What really is meant by the idea of mindless entertainment?

Is it getting joy from silliness?
Or could it be from the historic comics of TV that have provided laughter to masses since TV was in its infancy way back in the late 1940’s and early fifties, its heyday or is the humor on stage or in a movie theater?
Or perhaps the slapstick type of yore within those silent movies of the earlier part of a century ago, or the rejuvenation in the new realm of the Academy Award Winning movie, The Artist, or even in the early days in The Borscht Belt, the Catskill Mountains of New York State… or joy from those first few years of Las Vegas and free fun, and so many more? Comedy Clubs are a part of the 1980’s I hear tell…
If that’s mindless entertainment give me some more, more, more!

Fun and laughter is where we find it and now many find it online in the moments of their personal ideas of what makes them giggle and they post that inkling to share with all who also find it to tickle their funny-bone too…how kind or maybe not?

I suppose that to some their concept of what is humorous and yours may not always click, as with beauty, sometimes being droll is also in the eye or ear of the beholder too, hmm?

Many enjoy ethnic humor, which I find offensive, and some enjoy dumb humor jokes using animals or blondes as the objects of stupidity, and my reaction is mixed on both.
Cleverness can achieve a way of circumventing some slightly offensive blonde jokes, which at this age, I am still one, a blonde that is, and so I feel I can judge on those.
Not being an animal I still do take offense on behalf of those whom cannot speak up for themselves as a protector of their delicate feelings that I am sure would surface if they understood being called dumb and could respond appropriately, for that I am more than sure…BIG SMILE here.

And so in closing while I so do enjoy the postings of my Facebook friends mostly, and let them know when I do… sometimes I feel that if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all!
HA, I hear you all saying to the gal who nightly tells it as it is no matter whom she may skewer… well, my answer to that is when it comes to humor I know what I like and it is not my responsibility to monitor yours, huh?

On that idea that should grow into a big blooming truth, I am still working on it, another BIG SMILE here…Allow me to be the first to wish you a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share those overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Just for fun?

All seriousness aside what would you do if you were the only person in the entire world to remember sadness?

I know what a joy that would be for the world, but for you not so much, hmm?

You could go around smiling and blend in or insist on trying to explain what it was like being sad…Nope, nobody would want to hear it, betcha?

Twilight Zone like, for you kiddies who don’t have a clue what I am speaking about… here’s a site for you, although, I do believe it is still playing in this dimension on ME TV or TV land, SyFy or some such channel, yes, I do believe that you may have just missed a marathon of programming, or I bet you could get it in Blue-ray or something like that…if all else fails try this, just copy and paste: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Twilight_Zone_(1959_TV_series)
With the above link at least you will be informed if you allow it…insert theme music here…

But back to my way-out idea of you being the only person remembering what it is like to be sorrowful… how would that be for you and would you really think that telling others or trying to explain that sensation would be easy to do?

And you are not allowed to do anything to them, but explain verbally, no doing anything wicked or mean to them to make another human being have that same experience.

At a loss?
Go with that, in reality that emotion really stinks, or as one of my Facebook friends would say, sux.

GREAT!

Now go on from there and be happy all of the time and think Happy, Happy Thoughts!

Gosh, now we might want to discuss the meaning of the word ‘Boring’?

Nah, I will leave that concept for another time, perhaps another place, and maybe even another, dare I say…dimension? Insert theme music here again…!

Having a life filled with joy is the best way to go in life… so that is what I wish for everyone who reads this; is that.

No worries, no conflicts, no ills, no horrors and no fears of triskaidekaphobia; Friday the thirteenth, ha!
I knew I could fit that in somewhere, hmm?

On that short note of little note, allow me anyway to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Some companies are controversial just by the nature of where they do business, but...

That said, I felt the need to highlight one of those on the block companies that I found mixed emotions about, since their care and concern for a customer was done with class!
Here is my communication with this company that I felt was above and beyond what many others would do…admirable I do believe, but that’s just me, what do I know…don’t answer that!
As you can see their customer service is out of Illinois in these United States of America!
I know another outsourced product, but read this with an open mind, please…

From me:
To whom it may concern:

We, my husband and I, bought two of your wine glasses and were wondering; since they are from China do they contain lead? They were purchased at Publix in Port Charlotte Florida.

Concerned.

We are in our sixties and enjoy wine but with my Multiple Sclerosis, and that is also why this is printed so large I am blind in one eye. And so, I tend to drop things too and Lucite or plastic are lighter and less likely to break and so that is why we purchased your pretty glasses, but after noticing the embellished label, I asked at the grocery clerk, but she did not know and told us to contact you by your additional labeling which made it very easy!

Thanking you in advance for any information concerning this matter...

Sincerely,
Me
Port Charlotte Florida

Thank you for your lovely concise response in such a timely fashion!
We have been using your wine glasses and like them very much.

In closing posting/publishing this letter more than likely will or should spur some definite discussion on finding a happy medium with all that we have split with other countries. And I mean not the ones that left totally, the ones who still have people working here but produce products over seas.
And perhaps make us try to understand why we Americans have so much to lose with them taking our factory jobs from us in many states. I know that my next question may incense many, but do we ever think that the greed of being paid such high hourly wages could be part of our own manufacturing’s demise, really? And that need to have more, actually has caused us all to not think clearly on why companies took their segments of production elsewhere, not just because it was cheaper but because our neediness never ever seems to be fed or ends.
I am usually the first to buy made in America products and that is why I question others when on that rare occasion that I do buy from elsewhere.
But we as a nation got ourselves into big trouble with trying so hard to have it all, when we seemed to never ever know when enough is enough or just right.
Economically, we know that we are as responsible for what has occurred as the men or women that we voted on to put in office… I am just saying that if we want to blame anyone we should start by examining our own ways of doing things, starting with spending money that many do not have…using other peoples or credit…
On that self examination, which is why we live within our means or below, fear of what has happened has made us more than cautious as we all should be…
But still things can change for us in a split minute like most everyone else!
Scary!
On that knowing I probably said too much as usual, nothing new here, allow me to get back to what is important in life and free, that is being the first to wish you all a very happy good night and ask you kindly to count all your blessings and share those overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Some short lived excitement today!

My long suffering time today lasted less than two hours!
Yes, we were denied that clear liquid that we all seem to take for granted…WATER!

No, of course we paid our bill and I am more than sure everyone else in our neighborhood did too, but the problems was… that someone hit the fire hydrant, and I am pretty sure they did not do it on purpose, who would, really? I sure hope that they are alright!

It appeared to us in sections of degrees, first the water pressure went down quite a bit, and instinctively one looks around the house for a leak, and none were found, since you are on city water it couldn’t be them…I had showered late with fear that it may go completely out and I used my usual shampoo in my hair, but even with less pressure, I cheated a bit instead of two applications of shampoo and then a rinsing with each I only did one shampooing, now don’t think badly of me… oh I can hear you saying, “dirty girl!”
Quickly I applied the conditioner with the same fear of it not all coming out… while all the while soaping my voluptuous body and praying that I will not be left a soapy icky mess!
Fortunately, I made it out in time, just in time for Hubby to personally investigate further since the utilities person gave him the exact location on the corner of Easy and Orange streets just a few blocks from here… when he arrived they seemed to be shutting down the hydrant that resembled the ones we see in those wild car chase scenes that one of the vehicles goes over it and it makes like an enormous fountain spewing its stream, wastefully high into the air…!
Two men were on one of those metal rods shutting the whole thing off, successfully… and sure enough that meant that we were waterless with no time frame given to Hubby when we would have that common wet stuff back coming out of our faucet’s, when he inquired.
And so, once the details were available I felt the necessity to tell the media, since all the other cities surrounding us get that kind of coverage for that sort of thing, I thought it only right for us to get that too, hmm?
But in less than two hours the water was back on even without notification of a boil notice, wow! I contacted the newsies via emails to update the original story with its outcome.
Rain was happening while we had no water and I was concerned, not unnecessarily that our electrical power could be lost too!
Dinner plans were discussed for ordering a pizza, and Hubby even found our paper plates since without water…
Any-who, nothing ever became as bad or as exciting as it might have been, thankfully!

We bit another bullet, horrid expression that just means that we were indeed very lucky and dealt with what we were given so far!
A lot more of summer to come our way and since it is the season for these things to happen…who knows what may be in our futures… I like to think of it as, preparing for the worst and hoping for the best; for that is our common lament here!

In closing, we take what we get to do with what we can and being informed makes it all the more easier…
That is another reason for telling the media what had happen to get the word out.

On that idea of letting the powers that be spread the word, allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and kindly ask you to count your blessings and share those overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

PS congratulate me today it makes six years that I quit smoking! They say four more and it will be as if I never ever did...smoke, that is. Oh and congrats to 7-11 on their eighty-fifth birthday!

Red or Blue which are you, really?

Nah, that’s too personal I am told…that is discussing politics; although, you would never know it during an election year, hmm? For the next nearly four months we will be continued to be bombarded with those horrendous commercials defaming each candidate by whatever means one has to do the other injustice…

But it all makes me giggle a little that I can remember, when I was small that being red meant you were a communist, not a Republican, but being one of those means that you are usually conservative, but also means stop, and that being blue either meant you were sad or that if you were true blue you were honest, or moody blue, and a blueblood many might know now that it still means someone coming from wealth! While being blue in politics means you are in the common man or woman’s party, a Democrat and with that usually liberal in thoughts and deed.
How odd that color has represented so many different things over the years…

And if we go on to more of our primary colors, yellow means someone who is a coward, and as on a traffic sign or light it means caution, interesting…

Now green means GO, Go, Go and a newbie or recycler.
Not that exciting, hmm?

Pondering ideas is very nice and trying hard to make them relevant at times can be rather challenging…true?

But being that gal with too much time on my hands makes me do whatever I fancy to think about at any given time at this point in my life. And you have to admit something to think about?

I do so love my socially conscience friends on Facebook who have so many worthy causes proving they all have such good hearts.

Tonight, I put up one that Hubby noticed while we were eating our homemade delish burgers with corn topped with basil and extra virgin olive oil, as well as grilled zucchini and yellow squash. I switched to Hunts ketchup a while ago due to them not using any high fructose corn syrup in their product and now here’s another reason to use their product with their ‘Child Hunger Ends Here’ campaign, at childhungerendshere.com, just copy and paste to learn more.

All you have to do is buy any ConAgra Foods and then go to their site with the number on the container and they donate to the campaign from a portion of your purchase!

It is very stormy here as I write tonight, our usual.
Not timed exact yet, but pretty regular.

And so in closing I hope that I did somewhat entertain you with a bit of nonsense but also with some information to share with others and so now allow me to be the first to wish you a very happy good night and ask you kindly to count all your blessings and share your overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Speaking my mind occasionally has caused me to rethink how or what I say...

Tempering your words with, oh let’s just say thinking before blurting, puts the kibosh on my flow.
Yes, I flow and spew with little thought, but you all knew that.
And at least I am honest enough to admit this thing of mine, which most would consider an undeniable flaw…Interesting how ‘flow’ and ‘flaw’ have only one letter to make them entirely different meaning words, hmm?

Not that it should mean anything, but you have to admit it, it is interesting in the context of what I have been professing to, right?
Who cares, really?

You know, that as we all get older we try hard not to care what others think about us. We tell ourselves that we know who we are and are quite secure with all that does mean.

But is it?
Don’t most of us need others to validate some of the things we know and feel and do?
Hogwash, I hear you all say!
Well, aren’t you just the epitome of the well balanced perfect human being!
I on the other hand am not perfect at all, oh just wait, you all knew that, hmm?

Okay, I hear you saying move on…
Today, I was determined to find a bathing suit since my lovely long stretched out wearing thin in the fabric department one has its days numbered.
So on Mondays Beall’s Outlet has 15% off for everyone over fifty who has their card, and so we went and looked, but no luck… Had to go up to Wally World for a hose nozzle and a few other items like potting soil etc… and so I thought that I would give them a browse too and no luck there either! Just as well… imagine how most of us gals hate to bathing suit shop, then think trying to get into a dressing room with your scooter or leaving it out of it and toddling in and then just, maybe too much to ask… but just try to understand that the body you remember of seven years ago has blown up to twice its size!
And think that oh my goodness I have to look in the mirror if I get it on? Get your minds out of the gutter! I meant the bathing suit!
Not a pretty sight at all lumps where cute bumps used to be, dents where hills and valleys and tightness used to be, now where flabby is, too scary, to go on… just as well… I didn’t see one that I liked enough to try on, thank goodness for that!

Not a woman alive even when slim and trim has found her body to be perfect, yes, I do know since that when my little package was small for teeny tiny bikinis, size 2, I still did not believe that I was just right!
Honestly, it is so sad how many of us women, young and old have horrendous body image issues…and it is nothing new. It has been going on for years.
Only if we could all support one another on all things the more important ones more regularly then speaking my mind would have the effect I was hoping for… allowing for all of us to be who we are without being thought of negatively!
We as human beings are so complex, yes, more than these machines that can cause us grief on occasion …
And yes, that is males and females equally.
Why can’t we try to express our thoughts without harm to one’s self or another’s while in a safe heaven; then why not?

Am I thought of badly?
Or am I just another voice in the dark not really being heard by those I wish to hear me?
If a tree falls in a forest and no one is there, does it make a sound?
Is that a too farfetched analogy?
Nah, sure if no one is listening to this jibber jabber then it is not doing anything for anyone, but is it really anyway if they are there and listening/reading?
WHOA, I am getting way too esoteric for even me… but my brain is damaged, so I have been told due to having a neurological illness… and so that is my excuse and I am sticking to it!

On that ridiculous note of trying to end on a high, note that is, allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and ask you all to kindly count your blessings and share your overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Hot, Hot, Hot, we got, got ,got!

Oh so we joined the rest of the heated states, but so far no storms to create havoc with our electricity causing our air-conditioning to go out! So I am good, since heat is a big no, no for MS. And I had to wear my cooling vest to go out today! Sure it was very hot here too, feel better America, we have joined the club?

Gosh, we know personally how awful that is!
Here in Florida in our neighborhood after Hurricane Charley, August 13.2004, a Friday; when our electric went out it was for a whole two weeks! Mind you this was August in FLORIDA! And our home was destroyed while we were in it! Over eighty thousand dollars worth of damage to a home that was purchased for only 55k in 1998 and we had been renovating since then…
when it did rain it rained inside…with tarps on the roof…
And no insurance money until October or FEMA trailer either...Not good at all, temperatures in the nineties indoors and heat indices in the well over one hundreds for two whole weeks!

To top off that disaster, living on a saltwater canal is normally a beautiful nice thing, but during this period of having to keep windows open due to no central air-working with our generators and using fans instead, the sewerage plant up river was hit by a tornado and all that yuck including its aromatic smell made its way toward all of our noses, down our canals, towards our homes!
We had no options, closing the windows would have meant certain death from the heat; our only hope was a wind shift!

And although it seemed to take hours it was much less and it did happen, the wind shifted taking that balmy putrid odor away with it, hip, hip, hooray! It was a very short lived living hell!

We are all tested in life and the expression goes that the almighty never gives anyone more than they can handle… and yep, I think that could be what it might have been, maybe? But for me it was proof of the exact opposite.

Who knows… all I know is that it was pivotal in my handling of things in life…I found out that I was only good with disasters when they weren’t mine and when I could leave to go home from them after helping, a truly sad revelation…This last one broke me as a human being… since I could not go home from it, since I was already home… oh so very different. Brave for others but a whimp for me.
I have been testy every since with people and of course my own worst enemy with cutting off my nose to spite my face and most all relationships…it all was a shock and my nasty part of me didn’t really surface until watching the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina about a year after ours… I found out it triggered a lesser form of PTSD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which I am finally coping with a bit better these days… with trying again to find a purpose in life… and that is a good start!
My ills and my younger son’s estrangement still wear me down when I let them get the best of me…
But I try hard to not allow them too.
Thus my ups and downs…in how I write and how my days go like that roller coaster I refer to frequently.
We all need to try as hard as we can to be happy no matter how difficult our circumstances are… sure I have Multiple Sclerosis and seven types of arthritis, high blood pressure, and cholesterol without medication, but that medication is working just fine these days! And yes, I have GERD and hypothyroidism, also doing fine with medication!
I take my Copaxone daily and my Baclofen too and my MRI’s were stable and so who can complain?
I’m good, or I should be… I AM ALIVE!
Nothing is perfect, least of all ourselves, really!

So in closing tonight… Hubby and I had a lovely day in spite of the heat we went to the Cultural Center and had their feast of prime rib for a mere $6.95 with sides at a dollar and half each, or we could have had the buffet there for $11.25, which included salad and dessert, but chose not to.
We also went to their Trash or Treasure shop and got two more picture frames on sale for half price from their already bargain of $1.50 a piece so it was only $1.50 for two, and I bought two more blouses for a total for them for their sale price a dollar fifty each, also half price from their usual $3 a piece price! Some deal, hmm?

After that we moved on to the grocery store, Publix where I was hugged by our grocery clerk what a nice thing.
We had picked up odds and ends…and that total was the usual unexpected for so few items…such is life, hmm?

Oh, I almost forgot, this morning when I checked our account again, all those charges were removed and so that is also something good!

Yes, we all must count those blessings that I mention here nightly, actually it is a reminder for me…but I do so love to share and those overages are just that and that is why we will too! Allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night…

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Speaking My Mind: Interesting familiar diagnosis for one and horrifi... :   But these are MINE! Not Hubby's! What he has is not contagio...
