Hot, Hot, Hot, we got, got ,got!

Oh so we joined the rest of the heated states, but so far no storms to create havoc with our electricity causing our air-conditioning to go out! So I am good, since heat is a big no, no for MS. And I had to wear my cooling vest to go out today! Sure it was very hot here too, feel better America, we have joined the club?

Gosh, we know personally how awful that is!
Here in Florida in our neighborhood after Hurricane Charley, August 13.2004, a Friday; when our electric went out it was for a whole two weeks! Mind you this was August in FLORIDA! And our home was destroyed while we were in it! Over eighty thousand dollars worth of damage to a home that was purchased for only 55k in 1998 and we had been renovating since then…
when it did rain it rained inside…with tarps on the roof…
And no insurance money until October or FEMA trailer either...Not good at all, temperatures in the nineties indoors and heat indices in the well over one hundreds for two whole weeks!

To top off that disaster, living on a saltwater canal is normally a beautiful nice thing, but during this period of having to keep windows open due to no central air-working with our generators and using fans instead, the sewerage plant up river was hit by a tornado and all that yuck including its aromatic smell made its way toward all of our noses, down our canals, towards our homes!
We had no options, closing the windows would have meant certain death from the heat; our only hope was a wind shift!

And although it seemed to take hours it was much less and it did happen, the wind shifted taking that balmy putrid odor away with it, hip, hip, hooray! It was a very short lived living hell!

We are all tested in life and the expression goes that the almighty never gives anyone more than they can handle… and yep, I think that could be what it might have been, maybe? But for me it was proof of the exact opposite.

Who knows… all I know is that it was pivotal in my handling of things in life…I found out that I was only good with disasters when they weren’t mine and when I could leave to go home from them after helping, a truly sad revelation…This last one broke me as a human being… since I could not go home from it, since I was already home… oh so very different. Brave for others but a whimp for me.
I have been testy every since with people and of course my own worst enemy with cutting off my nose to spite my face and most all relationships…it all was a shock and my nasty part of me didn’t really surface until watching the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina about a year after ours… I found out it triggered a lesser form of PTSD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which I am finally coping with a bit better these days… with trying again to find a purpose in life… and that is a good start!
My ills and my younger son’s estrangement still wear me down when I let them get the best of me…
But I try hard to not allow them too.
Thus my ups and downs…in how I write and how my days go like that roller coaster I refer to frequently.
We all need to try as hard as we can to be happy no matter how difficult our circumstances are… sure I have Multiple Sclerosis and seven types of arthritis, high blood pressure, and cholesterol without medication, but that medication is working just fine these days! And yes, I have GERD and hypothyroidism, also doing fine with medication!
I take my Copaxone daily and my Baclofen too and my MRI’s were stable and so who can complain?
I’m good, or I should be… I AM ALIVE!
Nothing is perfect, least of all ourselves, really!

So in closing tonight… Hubby and I had a lovely day in spite of the heat we went to the Cultural Center and had their feast of prime rib for a mere $6.95 with sides at a dollar and half each, or we could have had the buffet there for $11.25, which included salad and dessert, but chose not to.
We also went to their Trash or Treasure shop and got two more picture frames on sale for half price from their already bargain of $1.50 a piece so it was only $1.50 for two, and I bought two more blouses for a total for them for their sale price a dollar fifty each, also half price from their usual $3 a piece price! Some deal, hmm?

After that we moved on to the grocery store, Publix where I was hugged by our grocery clerk what a nice thing.
We had picked up odds and ends…and that total was the usual unexpected for so few items…such is life, hmm?

Oh, I almost forgot, this morning when I checked our account again, all those charges were removed and so that is also something good!

Yes, we all must count those blessings that I mention here nightly, actually it is a reminder for me…but I do so love to share and those overages are just that and that is why we will too! Allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night…

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
