After Hurricane Charley destroyed the home that was there next door to ours for twenty-six years on August 13.2004. The lot was sold two years later for 112K as a cleared lot. It is waterfront, and oddly enough the home that was on it did not cost even that much, 180K we were told and that is what they received from their insurance at that time and then cleared the lot for 5K of the rubble that used to be their home and sold that cleared lot for that tidy profit of the 112K more! Good for them! They had sold it to a professor and his wife that lived and worked in Germany and they had purchased the lot to build their retirement home on someday, and hired grass cutters and basically kept it maintained for years.
Then fast forward to about two years ago, and they sold it for an enormous loss, for just a mere 30K, we never were told why.
I do know that they had wanted to build a two story home on it and we were not zoned at the time for that. Just speculation on my part, so we never did find out the real reason.
Any-who, apparently a developer from a place called Action Ontario Canada and the company called Ontario Inc. purchased the lot, and several more in the neighborhood, even a few with homes on them. I got my information from our county GIS.
The reason I know this is that the lot is no longer regularly being maintained. And it has been an issue with us. As you can see from the first picture the grass grows over the curb and clogs the drains causing the water to backup over the roadway with the possibility of being responsible for flooding!
The rest of the lot's lawn is overgrown causing all sorts of wildlife and vermin that reside there. I have tried to contact the owners even spent twenty bucks in phone calls, and when that got me nowhere, since the information proved to be a dead end; meaning never getting to the owners. Hubby and I both contacted the county, and they too said they can only cut the first several feet that is actually county property, and use street cleaning machines to trim the edge of the roots growing over the curbing.Fine but they still have not done it! With all this rain in our rainy season the problems loom large!
So we called again today, and still received another cool reception on the problem, attitude seems like too bad for you! Oh well.
Wish someone would buy it and build on it already! It has been homeless for nearly fourteen years! Perhaps then we might see some pride in ownership?
That pink house below had put in a beautiful saltwater pool not too long ago and the home is for sale, and they have dropped the price of their sale price by 10K, and I do believe that lot is responsible being an eyesore and all!

I'm just saying, we need good caring homeowners in our neighborhood.
And we do make an effort to maintain our home for ourselves and out of respect for our neighbors.
That pink house is on the other side of the empty lot and we are on this side of the lot, in other words the lot is in between our two houses, and yes, we are all on the waterfront, canal properties, just ten minutes to the harbor by boat and then from there out to the Gulf !
Happy good night all!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
