I have lived in many different places over the years.
Being born in a city in New Jersey in Hudson County where the hospital was in Jersey City, Margaret Hague, but not actually living there at the time.
We did live adjacent to there in North Bergen in an apartment, but I do not remember, since I was an infant/newborn and then only a year and half old when we moved on to Bergen County ahhhhhhhhhh suburbia and that was/is Paramus New Jersey into our brand new all brick raised ranch home, a three/ one with a garage, full basement and nice backyard with a septic tank, as all homes had there in the winter of 1952. I went to elementary school, jr. high and my first years of high school all there and walked the distance to them, that was until the end of tenth grade, my sophomore year, since jr. high was 7-9th.
By 1966 we had moved to the next town over, Emerson with a city sewer, also suburbia this time into a yellow split level home with 3/3/1 and basement and on a corner lot with beautiful hedges and adjacent to an elementary school that I no longer needed being that by then I was in high school, it was the summer just after my sweet sixteen that we had moved, and so I graduated high school there two years later for my junior and senior years of school.
I commuted to college from there as well into NYC via bus and subways, and so I lived there till I was married, and then to Oradell, next door to Emerson, to our first married home in a basement apartment that we made in my mother-in-law's basement that had a full eat-in kitchen and bath and two bedrooms as well as a fireplace, and back door entrance, not bad, since Hubby was still going to college and I was working then, in Ridgewood for Lord and Taylor's as a credit manager at the Fashion Center there.
Are you keeping up?
That is four places before we had our first child and that was fifteen months after we had married that we had him, and we continued to live in the basement for nearly two years in total!
Then in 1972 we moved one hundred miles south of there to Ocean County, Lakewood New Jersey with Number One Son who had been born in Hackensack Hospital, he was an infant when we moved into our brand new townhouse condo, a 2/1.5 with a clubhouse and pool and bike path etc. and we lived there for six years having our younger son who was born in Point Pleasant Hospital there, four years after we bought our building lot also in Ocean County, Lacey Township, Bamber Lake/ Forked River New Jersey, yes that is all of its names and locations! We built our brand new Bi-level in 1978-79 and lived in Lanoka Harbor for five months in a rental home 2/1/1 during building so the boys could start school in Forked River, while building continued on our five bedrooms/ two and half baths and a two car garage home on just under an acre of land, four blocks from the lake and ten miles from the Barnegat Bay/Atlantic Ocean, an hour from Philadelphia and about the same distance from NYC, but across the street from horse farms in the infamous Pine Barrens!
From there in 1986 we moved from cold snowy up north with a driveway that was 125 feet long and had to have snow removed to sunny FLORIDA! Great decision, actually by then both my parents had passed away and that is why I agreed to that big life changing move!
August of 1986 and yes, this month on the 19th we have been living in Florida 32 years!
We actually lived in two different homes, one a 3/2/2 and the other a 4/3/2, one house from the ocean, on the east coast of Florida in Volusia County in Ormond Beach Florida for nearly nine years then. Charlotte County since 1995, first four years in Punta Gorda in a rental RV mobile park, but in our owned fifth wheel on the Peace River, and then over here in this home in Port Charlotte with many renovations on our tiny, 2/2/1 that we had added nearly 400 square feet to, since moving here.
A total of ten different homes, I counted, did you?
This home we have lived in this one, as you can see the longest ever for me or Hubby!
And that is why we make a bit of a fuss about things that may seem silly to others.
I know nothing should be that important.
Oh I suppose again suburbia is where we did reside most all of those places!
Although, Bamber was more of a country setting with farms, and many lots five acres, and being far from the schools that bused our children from in front of our home, the grocery as well as the school was ten miles away!
I prefer being so much closer like we are here to everything!
Thus why we have stayed.
Happy good night all!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
