Vampire man tells me his cousin has MS and she's doing great...

Well, I told him that is wonderful, or some other expletive. Meanwhile he is a blood sucker, and I mean that only in the nicest way…and it has been my assumption that many don’t know all that much about what Multiple Sclerosis is. Most people don’t until they get it or have a close relative with it and then they have an absolute need to try to understand. Here’s the medical definition I found: “Multiple sclerosis: A disease that is characterized by loss of myelin (demyelinization). Abbreviated MS. Myelin, the coating of nerve fibers, is composed of lipids (fats) and protein. It serves as insulation and permits efficient nerve fiber conduction. In MS, demyelinization usually affects white matter in the brain, but sometimes it extends into the gray matter. When myelin is damaged, nerve fiber conduction is faulty or absent, and nerve cell death may occur. Impaired bodily functions or altered sensations associated with those demyelinated nerve fibers give rise to the symptoms of MS, which range from numbness to paralysis and blindness. People with MS experience attacks of symptoms that may last days, months, or longer. For many patients, the disease is progressive and leads to disablement, although some cases enter long, perhaps even permanent, remission. The cause of MS is unknown, although viral activity is suspected. Most patients are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 40. Until recently, treatment had focused on preventing attacks. Steroids, interferon, and medications to treat specific symptoms (such as fatigue, depression, and vertigo) are standard, along with lifestyle changes to avoid stress and other triggers. New treatment options involve immune system modulation or support.” Thanks to: http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=4457 But what I tell most people is: if they can imagine an electrical wire being stripped and short circuiting the connections and those are the nerve/wires that are in our brains and also down our spinal cord that are affected, and many get that. It screws up everything if there are NO MORE REMISSIONS! After I told Vampire man that it was wonderful about his cousin, he handed me a small cup to fill. Boy, I suppose that it is great that I am having all my tests done now and so when I get to the doctor’s office for the outcome it all should be there…warts and all, and no, I don’t have any of those. From the testing site we moved on to having breakfast out, at the Olympia Restaurant, and yes they serve multiple choice breakfasts, and I was a bit hungry since the blood work was a fasting one. Hubby chose his out of the house usual eggs and sausage, toast and home fries… and I, trying hard to be good chose an egg white omelet with spinach and mushrooms, which also came with home fries and toast, but I ate only my egg entirely and less than half the fries and half the whole wheat toast. Hubby did a good job on all of his and we both had coffee it was ten A.M. and I hadn’t had a drop yet for the day! I had two and so did Hubby. While at breakfast I called over at Fantastic Sam’s to see if Sherry, my hair stylist, was available for a haircut and she was and so I am now sporting a new bob, one that I hadn’t had in some time and it makes me look and feel happy! It was nearly three months since my last visit. From there we went over to Cultural Center and looked thoroughly throughout, and in Trash or Treasure I found a ceramic pot and attached saucer in my blue tones of all my others for just $1.50 plus tax and so I bought it with cash! To me that was a busy day although we arrived home before one P.M. to find out that my wheelchair and my Copaxone are both arriving tomorrow! Silly, what makes some people happy, hmm? But of recent years I am rather easy… now allow me to be the first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share those overages and we will too! And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
