Quiet is good, right?

Most all of us look forward to the hustle and bustle of the holiday season; sure we do? The ups and downs and turning us all around and at times we want to yell STOP! Of course seeing the people you care about and that care about you is the best part of what brings us all together, but… The fanfare and fussing to make all just right can make the sanest of any of us, get a wee bit loony? And so with the diminishing of our contacts through death or aggravation, estrangement, and cutting too many ties… we have been not having what I used to enjoy complaining about…JOYOUS CRAZINESS! Sure we have less than most do and sadly I have many regrets, but now I am in no condition to offer being the place to gather, and so with my heartfelt cares I do wish if it were possible to turn back the clock… to circa 1980 when my parents were still alive and all holiday dinners had 25 to 30 attendees… all our squabbles were on the only insistence on what they should or could bring. When our children were young and always there, and our families didn’t live more than an hour and a half from each other. And friends picked up the slack when relatives weren’t… the times, and all those many times that we had those at-home New Year’s parties, while little ones slept in the bedrooms down the hall or upstairs and we could walk back to our homes… ah memories… So when you are all about to pull your hair out this holiday season… think about how these times are truly the best and these memories cannot be taken away ever… and keep them all near and dear…and up here. (I’m pointing to my head) But let them dwell in… here. (I am pointing to my heart) And no one and nothing can ever steal those away. And even if someday I get diagnosed with a memory disorder, it is in the family, any-who it will be here forever. That I remembered a time when everything was how it should be now… if we had the next generation to carry-on, but sadly we don’t. Don’t feel disgusted or sorry for me or Hubby for we both have memories of those times… that may have been more difficult than we remember, but I prefer to think of them as I stated here…fondly. On that note of a warning for the holiday season, be aware of what it truly is about… making HAPPY memories to seal within your head and your heart, not your phones or cameras, but up there (your head) and down, not too far on the upper left side below the left shoulder (your heart), but you knew that… and so when those in-laws make you want to tell them what you really think of them, keep it to yourself! And when little Johnny and Mary or Abe and Deborah misbehave or whomever, don’t reprimand them; instead think of them as the free spirits that they will become…And then maybe you will have them encircling their wagons waiting to pounce to come in for a visit in your old age. NAH, things don’t always turn out that way no matter what you do! On that note of just trying to help, I suppose not very, but allow me to be the first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share all those overages and we will too! And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
