Market goes up again

And so this is a good thing that the Market closed up over 400+.

Early voting started here in Florida, and it was very busy with waits for a few hours on lines going around blocks; a good sign.

In our county we have six locations to vote before the 4th of November, and I’m sure we will probably try to do that.

But already, as much as I hate to admit it a woman on the news stated this evening that her first vote was not taken by the machine and was marked invalid so she had to vote again...déjà vu?
Our ballots are the type we had for IOWA testing in school as children, the ones where you fill in the oval for the answer you want, but now once they are done they go through a mechanical reader, and yes you know if you mess up the coloring in one of the ovals or cross out your answer, mental images of the 2000 election are dancing in my head, it could mean another assault on our state’s intelligence or abilities to cause problems, especially with people who don’t quite understand the concept or why you can’t just cross it out or not fill it in completely or dark enough.
Sure hope not, but even I can see the horrid possibilities written on the wall, and I’m not a professional just an innocent by-stander from the last disaster.

And yes even our West Coast County was included in that nightmare, of hanging and dimpled chads. But if I recall…personally I did it according to the directions.
All we can do is be patient with the system and realize that we must take a concerted effort to do our best to get it right the first time.

Our neighbor on the other side of the empty lot between us was robbed some time in the last few weeks. The reason he doesn’t know when it was is because he has fallen into the foreclosure situation of so many and he basically left his home to the bank and moved away.
He also has a six foot fence around the property, which doesn’t allow for us to see his property from ours.
The fact that his lawn was let go is more than likely why the incident occurred you can definitely tell no one is living there, but he left many items within the home, which was a lure to the burglars that apparently entered the property from the water.
We and he as well live on a saltwater canal that does dead end into a cove, but no new motor boats were noticed but any row or canoe types could have easily snuck in after dark without our knowledge. It is such a shame adding insult to injury and our hearts go out to this young man who is younger than our sons. Hopefully now that he had family members help him move the remainder of his possessions out and mowed the lawn the home may very well not be a target again.

My husband went over to talk with him, and ask him to at least leave the shades open on our side, which happens to be the side our bedroom is on, so if we see flash lights enter we can do something this time. With our windows closed and the air conditioning on we hear nothing. We feel awful that we didn't know.

Good night to all and to all be careful.
