Roller coaster personal day

Our sea wall has been compromised by weather and erosion and it is leaning.
And since my husband has a bad back we decided to try and get a free estimate by a professional for repair, but the repair cost was out of sight 5K to 15K for just half the distance that is leaning. We did contact two others, and we were told the same story, we always get three prices.
The original wall was installed by us for free using engineering cement test cylinders stacked and secured on a firm base, and it did last these 9 nearly 10 years.
The cylinders each weigh about 25 to 30 lbs., which in my husbands current physical condition would take years if not never to repair, but he has not given up. My self professed Rube Goldberg is thinking of a better way to accomplish the task.
And it's true, so far it is still standing but leaning. Who knows how much actual time we may have.

The next was a little more unnerving situation. I had written to my eldest niece, and the letter came back with two little red hand stamps stating return to sender with a hand written, DEC in between them. My husband being a retired police officer immediately came to the same conclusion I did that the DEC stood for deceased.
We called the post office that it was sent back from and the line was busy for over an hour until we finally got through to verify that that was exactly what it meant, not good.
It’s true that this niece is only five years younger than me, and we haven’t spoken in quite a few years, but I am sure I would know if she were dead. After all she was a bridesmaid in our wedding party the one that became the physicist, and was still quite attractive in spite of her brains. The good news is that I checked the obits and she wasn’t in any!
I do have and did all day have a call into her mom, my X sister-in-law, but so far nothing.

One cousin gave me a couple of sites to try and nothing there either. Another cousin suggested contacting her last employer, which I guess I will try tomorrow its too late now.

So I suppose I will close now since I really can’t think of anything else to say tonight.
