Wild Alaskan sockeye salmon asparagus and sweet potato

A healthy meal homemade for two and our dinner for tonight. We had stocked up on the salmon due to a sale at Publix, our grocery store.

One of my favorites and when we used to entertain I had been known to serve it to guests too.

Recipes are numerous online and many are shared on social media sites. Some are obscene and like I have called for years before, "food porn", in the sense they are decadent, loaded with incredibly too much high fat or sweet or salty concoctions to create a glistening photo op and come hither interest for the viewer.

Tantalizing and literally mouth watering. Anyone trying to watch their weight can be infected with unholy desires to consume many of the portrayed recipes in their finished form that in the long-run would prove to be unhealthy.

Knowing when to say when is a skill that I have never acquired even in my so-called too thin years, yes at times I had been accused of being anorexic. In spite of those unfair claims I have always been a good eater and periodic connoisseur of all things foody-ish, not too much though, although we did own a casual dinning restaurant.

I do love certain styles of seafood, steak, burgers, hot dogs, Vegetarian etc or nationalities of food from many countries Chinese, Greek, Mexican, Indian, Thai, Italian,German, Jewish, French, Russian and American, you name it... etc.
Desserts are more complicated since I do love most all, from raw fruit that doesn't mean I don't enjoy ice cream cake, the more chocolatey the better in cakes and or ice cream, pies and cheese cakes, strawberry short cake too are great but flan, puddings and JELLO also are not bad either and just about anything poached in its own juices are delish too.

Tonight I am torchering you all with my ideas of what is out there to eat, or perhaps not, please forgive either way.

Most who post these things whether to show where they are eating, even I do that sometimes, we must realize that this behavior should be done responsibly for their are people out there/here that cannot control their lust for some promoted without ill will items there.
I do understand, truly.
Although I am one of those weak minded people without will power and the inability to work off those falling off those wagon consumptions of eating my hearts desire first and thinking later with too much after the deed guilt.
But mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, oh such a good feeling, endorphins kicking in in full force, active, filled within my metabolic joyous calming peaceful restorative, drunk with pleasure of course, short lived once the wave of reality comes back over me.
Someone slap me now!
NO!
We all must learn self control in all aspects of our lives with me on the top of that list of many others.
My Mom used to say, all Moms said this I am more than sure "if you can't say anything nice about a person/thing, better not to say anything at all." Or some form of that sage advice.

So I will try harder and perhaps the candidates running in our election too early will try harder too? HA!
Self control, what a concept, hmm?

On that note please allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and may I kindly ask you to count all your blessings and to share those overages with you know whom and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

You were waiting I presume?

A pictorial that shows what can be done by a great DIYer, HUBBY!The reason for the project!
Simple supplies, for around thirty-six bucks!

Treated wood being arranged and nailed together for a side of the trellis; don't ask me which side, KIDDING! The wood was routered/grooved to accept the plastic lattice inserts.
The top of the trellis before painting.
Outdoor workbench made from recycles rusted steel frames; from Number One's welding supplies.
Painting in the garage shop when the rain was not co-operating for outdoor finishing!
One side of the new trellis painted and ready for assembly.
Demolition, not very hard when the wood was rotted.
Location, location, location, yep where the grapevine is, of course, ha! Yellow, Alamandas in the background to the right on our fence, on the left is our Gardenia that had been split by lightning, but as you can see it is doing just fine, it borders our fish pond. The trellis is to the right of our garage and the entrance to our backyard from our cement courtyard through the front wooden gated fence, got that?

Wedges and brackets were installed for non-wiggling.

Hubby secured it to the house and leveled.
That pipe is from our rain gutter going into our rain-barrels.
Looking good on completion, actually that happened yesterday, but I got distracted with my other blog, please forgive. And for some reason the PICS were not uploading right.

Now the retraining of the grapevine begins! That is it on the right side of the trellis!

On this pleasant note, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you all to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages with you know whom and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS!!!!!

Alright, some are and some aren't; me included in that generalization; you figure out where I fall, but keep it to yourself...

Whenever we post anything online it is out there for the world to see, (no news there, hmm), and when on Facebook we have the ability to respond to opinionated comments, and so we do or we don't, it's just the way it is.
Ordinarily, I try to either "like" what was said or not, only nice to let them know you noticed their effort, ya know?
"Not" is the simplest way to respond, since you do nothing.

Comments are desired by the one doing the posting as long as they agree with the one who posted, in other words them. I like to call them the originator or instigator, whichever might be the case.
A game when you think about it and when you forget the rules, that primary and only true rule of agreeing and you chose unwisely to disagree, UH OH watch out! The tamest of people will turn on you like you're the monster, but they're the one going beast-like!

So, I suppose by now you all know what I did today...YEP!

Will I ever learn, nobody, myself included really wants to know what your/my opinion is when it is contrary to theirs.
Whew! Now that that it is out in the open...sure I am one of those types too...have been a card carrying critic of others all of my life, not just recently in these later crotchety older years, when most finally accept that outrageous behavior due to racking it up to senility or some other such thing and dismiss it, finally.(News folks I am there!)
And yeah, I do not like, want or need for my sanity to be told that someone highly disagrees with me either.
Why do people, some people believe that some criticism is beneficial? Calling it constructive? Will they be there when you need them to rebuild your confidence once they say what they said, making them feel better but you feel horrid, hmm?
Really never got that one.
Or telling someone they are fat or too thin, I have gotten both, to make them better, healthier they like to say, and mentioning that they really should think about dieting or eating more, ya know?
To me it seems like bullying.
Well, aren't I PC, (politically correct). In case you forgot that, since it probably is going the way of Windows 8 and the dinosaurs, I suspect.
No one should be blunt that is unless someone is a true idiot!
And that brings me back to my title...some are and some aren't and then some are occasionally, but some are all of the time, true?
The thing is one never knows who is or isn't, and then you got trouble, right here in River City, yes we have the Peace River, before you figure it out!

Any-who, in closing, I will try to mind my P's and Q's, but this is hard. Shutting this down or closing up all together is probably my only way to shut up..., nah it's not going to happen, allow me anyway to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you all to kindly count your blessings and share all those overages with you know whom and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

Give me a T-I-T-L-E, again, give me a T-I-T-L-E! One more time, give me a T-I-T-L-E!

I can't hear you!
Of course I can't; these are written words, not two-way audios, why that would be two tin cans on a string or a telephone or a cellular phone or a two-way radio, hmm... oh I suppose you all knew that, ha!

Moving on...

Did any of you ever think that when you scan the news online or even in the newspaper, even when watching the TV you would stay tuned with great expectations and youngins don't ask me what a newspaper is, okay you can ask another adult, but not me..., where was I, oh the title, and that eye catching or hearing a clip/item, TITLES, are what makes you want to know more and make you need to read or see them, wanting more?
Sure you did.
I know we have a slight, okay, a very big communication problem, since I still cannot hear any of you.

Oh well, I never let that stop me before, and I definitely will not allow that to happen now...
Eye/ear catching is the concept with a tantalizing grabbing gotcha you're mine presumption by the author/anchor, and occasionally, nightly here, that is me, ha!

So with a non-titled story is something that I could just be asking for trouble with, hmm? Don't bother answering that one either, I still can't hear you.
I am thinking many might not bite onto this thingy I am dangling with an enormous question in not a usual way of not tying it all up into a neat little package with a specific hint of too much info for your interest or pleasure to enjoy, or I could be wrong; I have been wrong before, ouch!

In conclusion, my point is usually made by now to not leave you hanging, but sadly I got nothing!
Oh here is something, but only you can decide...if it really is...
Hubby's project is taking a while longer, rain delays and all that, perhaps tomorrow for that pictorial you have all be waiting for?
Okay I am presuming, which in reality is more positive than assuming, hmm?
Don't bother, I know what you're thinking, I'm scary, true?
Don't answer that either, since it will land on deaf ears, well not completely deaf just a wee bit hard of hearing, just a smidge, oh who am I kidding I STILL CANNOT HEAR ANY OF YOU!!!!

On this note of what are you kidding, and the short answer is, YES, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask all of you to count all your blessings and kindly share all your overages with you know whom and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
(Nope, not a thing; you either? Oops not going to know yes or no, but that's okay I have faith in you; someone's gotta, kidding! REALLY!)

Happy evening, happy morning, or happy afternoon!

Writing this blog has given me a wonderful feeling knowing that all the world gets to read me, i.e. this blog of mine, at different times of their day.
Thus my odd title, it may be a bit strange to you, but not to me.
To me it is welcoming.
And since this has an automatic translator I don't have to look up any languages that I am lacking in, which are a few too many; please forgive.

"Happy", is my idea of wishing you to have that kind of day.
I began that when I first started on Facebook several years ago and it caught on.
Some might believe it was their idea, but I sincerely think I was the one. But I could be wrong; I have been wrong before.
At that time I used to also use alliteration in that morning to welcome everyone, boy was I a real user of my Thesaurus and quite proud of finding the words and more words, since somehow they all made sense, with their beginnings all starting with that same letter:

"al·lit·er·a·tion

/əˌlitəˈrāSHən/

noun
  • 1. the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words"
Powered by Oxford Dictionaries

Any-who, somehow my happy morning welcomes awakened my love for writing once again and even though I feel my cousin did suggested a blog, which he really did, that welcoming seemed to be noticed by some new Facebook people whom I found to respect their opinion due to their vocations and that made me want to try to reactivate my creative side, and so thank you!

Enough about me; so I will move on...

Hubby is in the throws of a new project.
He is rebuilding our vineyards' trellis, kidding our only one grapevine that is that was purchased eleven years ago when we visited a local vineyard. The trellis was store bought and I do not recall from whom. With our moist air and heat eleven years for anything made of wood is a pretty good length of time to be just falling apart.
The one Hubby is building is being made from pressure treated wood and white plastic lattice, the wood will be painted with exterior white paint to give the project uniformity and a nice aesthetic look, cottage style.
So far Hubby has been taking PICS as he goes along, but I decided it would be best to show them all from start to finish, more cohesive, and it will probably be all done either tomorrow or the next day. The cost is quite reasonable, less than forty bucks, but we both have been DIYers for years and years, first out of necessity to save money and second out of necessity to save money! LOL!
I will be posting them when complete, the PICS that is.

On that silly note allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night, afternoon, or morning and ask you also to kindly count all your blessings and to share all those overages with you know whom and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

"Rain, rain go away...

... Come again another day. Little Arthur wants to play." From the UK, mid-19th century James Orchard Halliwell.
Yes, that is the whole poem...or, "Come again on Saturday."
As an alternate last line and there a few more, goto to see them all: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rain_Rain_Go_Away

Most people appreciate a little bit of rain to help with floras, to color the landscape as well as green the grasses, as a for-front or the backdrop to the landscape, and of course to fulfill all the earths deep drinking habits for us, its inhabitants to fill our very necessary reservoirs to drink, launder, clean our possessions, swim and bathe ourselves.
So why complain?
Many areas of our fine land are thirsty and are in a devastating drought situation, even half of our own state, on our eastcoast.

The concern is that when we get too much rain flooding can happen, but you all know that.
Our weather man just stated our inches of rain here on the west coast could be anywhere from 3-6 inches, down from a previous prediction of eight or more.
The problem is the rain storms do this thing called "training, coming down one after another, I suppose simulating the same concept of a train pulling its cars behind it and just when you think its all done another one comes after.

I suppose like snow/ice storms, tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding, mudslides, fires caused by lightning, not much can be done.
All we can do is know what to do when they inevitably happen.
Fortunately, that too can be Googled or contact your local emergency management people. I am fortunate in the sense that my Hubby was a fire chief and a deputy and was first trained in emergency procedures in the 1980s in NJ and then was part of the sheriff's office "first in team", the ones to go into the disasters as well as he attending all those hurricane conferences as a community policing officer while here in Florida prior to going into their marine patrol.

On that note please be prepared for any and all possibilities; these things are no longer regional events, it can happen anywhere.

And I so wish that I could tell you something practical to do about these lone gunmen who shoot people while they are out to enjoy their lives, or feeling safe in places to learn or being in the armed forces so to protect all our freedoms while on home turf.
But sadly I am at a loss, and feel like crying for all those people and their families and friends... these last few mentally ill gunners had access to the weapons to carry out their hate, misguided thoughts or whatever is the "new" PC to call why anyone would take anothers life for no reason what-so-ever. Sure, we all think we know but if we actually did then and only then the problem would be solved.

So in spite of more harsh events clouding our picturesque landscape called life with sad and horrifying realities, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you to try and have a very happy good night without violence, and kindly ask you all to count your blessings and share all those overages with you know whom and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

Speaking My Mind: Interesting familiar diagnosis for one and horrifi... :   But these are MINE! Not Hubby's! What he has is not contagio...
