"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger," Nietzsche.

Way to go Hubby!
You know that mysterious ill he has been fighting with his tummy and fevers, and most recently a rash, on his front and back... well folks the mystery has been solved!
He is allergic to PENICILLIN!
And he is still feeling not so great nearly a week after being off of it, but the feelings are sporadic.
The eye doc diagnosed him yesterday.
He was lucky he did not go into anaphylactic shock!
It still might have an effect on his blood work causing him to become anemic, damn!

Here's the weird thing all these years he was told to say that he WAS ALLERGIC to Penicillin due to when he was a child it just did not work on him, but over the years he had had his share of penicillin based medications as an adult without any negative outcomes that is before... this!
He also argued just this last time with the pharmacy that he wasn't allergic to it, and they did not want to give it to him so they did not fill it, until he told them to!
Telling them that he was NOT allergic to it, the rub though was they just refused to fill it but did not try to find an alternative for the medication, and that annoyed both of us! Since his eye cyst infection was very severe!

He is somewhat out of the woods for now, I truly hope so anyway!
I called the pharmacy and told them what did happen and sheepishly, but firmly told them to add that he IS allergic to penicillin and that there are so many alternatives to use.
The tech I spoke with agreed that they should have called back the doctor or Hubby to get permission for another medication and they apologized for not doing that!

Any-who, at least now we have an answer.
He still gets chills but doesn't want Tylenol recommended as well as Benedryl for the rash related to the reaction, no to that as well.
He has lost ten pounds and was never ever heavy!
His appetite comes and goes too.
Right now he is making US dinner of French bread pizza from our own rolls sauce and cheese.
So that is something, and not too taxing on the body.

Happy good night all!

Count those blessings and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

PS Has anyone else had this happen to them with an allergic reaction that came so slow and not the usual text book way?
