Now, before I begin, I do like Nike, always have and always will. And when I was a race walker I went through many pairs of their shoes.
Their campaign to, "Just do it!" has always been more than just catchy words, but in many ways poignant in the respect it made all people believe they could do anything as long as they put their mind to it and just did it!
That said, I think that they once again have proven how brilliant with this latest campaign with Colin Kaepernick...now hold on, even Hubby has disagreed with me on this one.
Let me say that he is a fine decent young man with holding what he believes in very high regard in his heart and with all the controversial naysayers he has held his consistent beliefs unwavering.
So in Nike's mind he is a perfect example of what Just Do It represents in believing in something strongly enough and telling others why you do and therefore just doing it!.
Again, he is a young man with a strong belief in that and as an American he has the ability to express his feelings publicly anytime anywhere and that is his right so long as he doesn't cause harm to anyone in anyway.
Jumping on a bandwagon to push for an advertising campaign with always social expression of conflicting reasons or misunderstandings of why and what-for his ideas are discussed differently with many different groups of people is not only confusing to many of us in the public, but to the campaign itself.
Colin has the right to do the kneeling and he did jeopardize his career by that choice, and has been not playing for the last couple of years due to his personal decisions,
Although, now I understand some teams are considering him to play for them, but according to the new enacted due to him rules they have recently made Mr. Kaepernick has a lot of soul searching to do in the fact that in order to work in his chosen profession he must compromise his personal beliefs.
Nike has given this young fellow an option for income I am more than sure.
So the dilemma is are we as a nation willing to accept anyone who compromises their beliefs even when we don't agree with them to do what they really want to do, by lying to oneself to do it... OR SHOULD SOMEONE JUST DO IT?
And that is the real question, isn't it?
I guess I am a bit on the fence.
What would you do?
I do not know for sure what I would do in this particular case.
Fortunately, I am a retired bum that has very few enormous choices to decide on daily.
Career choices have not been on my radar for years and years.
Although, my feelings for believing in something anything is right up my alley!
I believe that we already have a great America and that 99% of the world's population has decent good people in it, and that we as most are a work in progress, and that someday soon our own nation will have a proper government to lead to the next way that we go in the eyes of the world stage.
For Karma is a funny thing, and we here in the home that I love are in for some MAJOR KARMA corrections in that arena!
We all have to believe that!
Happy good night all!
Count your blessings and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
