What is going on here!

What is going to be done? Still waiting... but concerns are true and very necessary!
The algae issue in Lee County Florida: Best breakdown below for the world to know, but nearly a week old already.

Moving on...

On our home front, we finally heard from our insurance company's agent about the monies sent to us for the "damage" after Hurricane Irma, over 13K.
If any of you recall this was quite amazing, since we even though we're under mandatory evacuation due to Emergency Management's rightfully so fear of storm surge and with us living on the water at only a nine foot elevation, and we did evacuate nearly two hundred miles north and east of here luckily when we arrived home the "damage" was minimal, gates pushed in and a few soffits hanging, all Hubby fixable items.
We were still out of power though and we had to buy fuel for our generators, $90 worth.
So I called FEMA to see if they were reimbursing people for that like they had after Hurricane Charley, and they said no, but they are for mandatory evacuation hotel/motel stays. The way to have it go through the proper channels was to contact your homeowner's insurance company and go from there. So I did what I was told explaining what FEMA had said and they said they had to send some one out to check on our home, and I said sure.
By the time they arrived the gates and the soffits were all repaired, and I told them that was all that had been damaged from what our personal inspection had been, and that we were seeking just the less than three hundred dollars, $251, for the three nights stay at the hotel, since we have a dog and I am handicapped we were no longer able to find shelters that would accommodate our particular situation, and we were only trying to access our own insurance or FEMAs for this particular need as per protocol.
To our surprise within days we received that lump sum check stating in a breakdown what the monies were to be used for, the roof was the most, and then the fence etc. I called them back and said our roof was not an issue and everything else had been fixed nominally. I even offered to return the monies, this was way back in November last year and they said no keep it.
Fortunately, I had the good sense not to spend it although other family members had many suggestions on what to do with it, we did nothing. But we did get a few estimates via phone on cost of replacing the roof, no one at that time could come out due to the state had been devastated and we felt foolish even calling with nothing we could see was wrong, and the prices ranges for repair and replacement were from 11K to 14K to get it done in six to eight months and that was via phone with no one actually coming out to see if the roof needed anything!
About a week ago in July we received a phone call from our insurance agent's office State Farm telling us if the roof was not fixed Tower Hill, our homeowner's insurance company will be cancelling us if the roof is not replaced!
WHOA!
I called back to repeat the actual situation and what had transpired, and so our insurance agent gave us the name of a legitimate licensed and insured, (with them) roofing company and even gave me the owners cell phone and I called.
The best they could do at this point since they were backed up with re-roofings is to put us under contract after they physically came out for the pricing and have the proper paperwork notarized and fax it over to the insurance company since they were still backed up thirty weeks, yes that is 30 weeks before they can do it!
I said as long as the insurance company doesn't cancel us, that will be fine!
The hurricane hit last September and to date we still have not had any leaking from our roof, and so in our minds we are baffled why this has to be done?
The roof was necessary to be replaced back in 2004 after Hurricane Charley ripped it off, but not this time, and that is when it had last been in 2004!
Oh well.
Tomorrow we will be signing the contract and having the parts necessary to be notarized for free at the roofers office, and all will be faxed over to Tower Hill and CC to our State Farm agent, all on the up and up. Of course we will be also giving them the 10% deposit for the job for a fifteen year roof for our little cottage replaced for $9,950 ( twice the price of fourteen years ago) completed job and warranty, less than the original quotes via phone calls last November, but also an elongated waiting period now during hurricane season! CRAZY!

Happy good night all!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
