Ancient wisdom…

“Our brightest blazes of gladness are commonly kindled by unexpected sparks. Questions provide the key to unlocking our unlimited potential. Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off the goal.” The above words of wisdom are probably not at all ancient, since they are the product of fortune cookies received just last night. Now something has been bothering me, do Chinese restaurants who deliver their food go according to the size of the order to determine how many fortune cookies should be included in the dinner? And if they do, is giving us three, does that mean that we are ordering way too much food? I sure hope not, since what happens with what we order from them is quite cost-effective since we seem to get three meals each out of all our recent orders. And so, even if we do order about once a month from them to us it is a respite from having to prepare our own meals on occasion. That is been happening more often since many restaurants, as you all must know, have a habit of giving way too large portions, and I am sure that you must all agree. And under those circumstances we actually ask for a container to take it home, no more dishonesty with doggie bags; since we all know dogs should eat dog food, not people food. At least most of our dogs have lived long healthy lives as long as we stuck to a regimen of feeding them what our veterinarians have suggested to be better for their diet therefore their health. I got off track again; I was going to discuss what those messages in the cookies meant or at least my interpretation of them. Let's take the first one first: “Our brightest blazes of gladness are commonly kindled by unexpected sparks.” To me, this one means allow the unexpected joy to spice up your life and perhaps change your way of thinking, or not, huh? This second one: “Questions provide the key to unlocking our unlimited potential.” Means that you should always ask questions; how else can you learn? But be ready, for when you go up to people, complete strangers, they may not want to talk to you, or they could and not tell you the truth...or not...huh? This last one: “Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off the goal.” I think this one is my favorite, since so many people keep telling me to make goals and not let any obstacles get in my way; oh pooh, at this point I have reached more goals than many of the people who continually tell me this, and so although the concept is admirable and one that young healthy people should always think about in their lives… An oldie but a goodie, like myself having done so much… That's not to say that I have given up in any way, shape or form, but my goals are smaller now and more precise, and for the here and now, not for the distant future. To me that is also admirable, and I only wish that people would understand that as what it is. Ya know, at a certain point in a person's life others should know enough to let that person know enough about themselves to know enough of what is right for them, got that? I say this with no dementia, as of yet diagnosed, and I think my emotional stability although it does fluctuate from day to day even hour to hour; not unlike many younger women, so there! I am now sticking my adult tongue out at you! So what gives, why do people try so hard to make you think you're failing at what they consider your life should be? You guessed it, again another charlatan tried to tell me that I was living below her line of what positive thinking should be. How dare anyone tell you that, especially someone who doesn't even know you? She looked at my map on my Facebook page and thought that was where I had been and we all know that has nothing to do with where I have been. I kept urging her to read, ‘my about’, but apparently she never did, since I do believe it shows that I have lived many life spans and have done a bucket load of interesting things. Not to mention I have been on TV and have been on the radio and I have been involved in making a music video. I have met and worked with actors and actresses, met Richard Petty while working with NASCAR and have also worked with MTV during spring break, booked bands in hotels and for parties and colleges, I could go on and on… I was a fund raiser who put together, with others' help a golf tournament, and several fashion shows, a three hour entertainment show, which raised a lot of money, you get the idea. I find that people who assume, as we all know means: making an ass out of you and me, are more judgmental than I try to be. In my opinion, people surprise me when they don't do or know something more so than when they do. To me having access as we all do to information there isn't a reason for anyone to not be knowledgeable. Everywhere you go people have smart this or smart that, gosh I'm the only one who doesn't own a smart this or that it seems, ha! But sadly true. Finding things, i.e. information from my good old PC here is just a click away with my good old-fashioned mouse, besides I could never keep up with how fast technology changes from day to day. It appears to me that if I tried that competition I would always be one step behind, ha! Some games, to me, move way too fast like this technology toy thing, and the prices seem to come down just before the newest is about to come out. So, can one ever really win? Oh, it's not a game so you say? Than why does it have so many competitors? Who feel that it is very important to have the latest and greatest? I'm not putting these people down; it's just that I don't need to play the game in my lifestyle, which doesn't call for any of that. I'm content, as is; now what's wrong with that? And my priorities on spending money are different. I just want to be respected like everyone else does for their choices, instead of being thought of as old-fashioned or cheap or as it truly is in needing the money for other things that matter in our lives, okay? On that, something for all of us, including myself to think about, allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and ask you kindly to count all of your blessings and share all of your overages and we will too! And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
