Hello? Can you hear me?

I had a little problem that was resolved today.
Somehow, my patient thought our appointment was for tomorrow at the same time.
And so I had to find a few more patients, which I did.
Now I have a couple of people that I set up for them to come in next week; the one that made the mistake plus another new person.
I learned to ask the patient to write down appointments and the list of our requirements of things they must bring with them to meet ours and the pharmaceutical companies criteria.

The computer access worked so well, and I was all set to enter the information, but after twenty minutes past the time of our appointment I called the person and that is when I found out that they wrote it down wrong. To say I was a bit disappointed would be a big understatement.

Fortunately, my trainer reassured me that this does happen more often than I might have realized.
Whew, that was awfully nice of her to say that.
I thought I did something wrong, but she was there when I called this person last week with the appointment time.
And I did say today as the appointed time that we had discussed…

Geez, I am trying to talk in code since this is all so private and personal to these clients/patients.
Hope that I can express the day’s journeys of working there with not divulging any personal info with still giving you an idea of what I am doing there.

It is really fun! It must sound weird saying that to some, I know; but helping people is so rewarding in whatever capacity that you can.

I also received, over the last two days, validation that I have reached the senators with the ADA bills in congress since they both responded to the form letter that I signed for the National MS Society sent to me as an online advocate!
Gosh, I am an in-person patient advocate and online one too!
Makes a gal proud to be anything in this odd condition that I am in!
A woman who thought she was all done, a little done, not really done at all, oh, maybe just a little, but not too much!
BUT I AM NOT DONE AT ALL!
I still have something to offer to others; now get your minds out of the gutter!
What I truly mean and feel good about is… helping people that need help and that I can relate to, too, since I have been there and sometimes I still am…got that?
You know, after a while of feeling so needy it is really good to turn that around, and I am very sure that you do know that too!

There are people of many disabilities helping others with many disabilities, and ya know something… we prove to them that they should of, could of; have some hope too and that perhaps they aren’t done either! Who knows they may help someone else…wouldn’t that be great, paying it forward.

On that concept of most all good ideas of allowing even us who think we aren’t so capable to become useful and purposeful by aiding the others of similar abilities is a wonderful thing, and so allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you kindly to count all your blessings and share those overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

AND GO GABBY DOUGLAS! Congratulations to that sweet sixteen year old that did what her heart’s desire was from a very, very young age with the support of her Mom! Super duper wunderkind and she is one of ours, go USA!
