Unconditional love is sometimes very hard, but part of the love that a parent has for a child and vice versa or at the very least should be...
Whether it is unrequited from an estranged family member or when we know that we have done everything to make a loved one feel better in a very difficult situation, or even a dear friend as in a trial by their fires a blazing in their life, praying to extinguish its fallout…am I making any sense?
There is not one person on this planet of any years old who has not felt the tightness in their heart of fear for someone you care about. It’s as if your heart might stop at any minute and that you know that you have the need to try to say what needs to be heard, not necessarily what you think might happen, or your own fears spoken aloud.
Being a spouse or a parent or even a relative once removed or closer, or even just a friend with long gaps in that friendship, may be a test for someone like me… That is to learn cautiously how to handle the proper words to express how you care and therefore can be there in spirit even though not in person. Emotional support is all I got these days to give, but I know that it is in me to give heartily, unconditionally.
My old chum seems saddened, rightfully so about the only fact that many in her life have passed away so sadly, her husband, her only sister, and so many more and her Mom is her one and only person in her life that is left who has returned her unconditional love, which is what all decent Mom’s do.
But her genuine fear is if this surgery being performed now this week, probably on this coming Tuesday doesn’t do what it should that she will have no one!
I let her know that is not true, we are here for her.
But not in the way the younger healthier me could be; rushing fifteen hundred miles to join her in her quest to save her ninety-one year old mom, as any decent child would do. Why I too felt that power with my own Mom to wish her all well… and my Father too… but alas I failed and they died. Although, they are still here in my heart each and every day!
Interesting that I have used the word heart so much in this essay tonight of feelings for people, but not really since the heart represents internationally love and caring and positive feelings except when it is broken of course.
You see, as any who read me daily might know it is her Mother’s heart that is on trial here…arteries are blocked and bypasses will be performed and other procedures as well, on this otherwise healthy very thin ninety-one year old woman…
Do me a favor world if you are listening, now I know this may seem a bit bizarre but, that’s me, PRAY, in whatever language you write/read/think in for this lovely good hearted woman named, Clara Belle!
Yes, that is her name, and in the early years of our friendship circa 1963 even my ole chum would giggle, since we both grew up watching Howdy Doody, a marionette on a children’s show with a sidekick by the name of Clarabell who was a clown!
They say that laughter is the best medicine and so I hoped that her mom will be able to enjoy, during her recovery a new Betty White (also in her 90's) TV show called 'Off Their Rockers' premiering this week…
Her Mom was always good to me and always asked me what I thought as if she really wanted my input and was interested in my point of view, since we traveled together many places on vacations and locally while growing up, and my Mom didn’t drive…
Perhaps, dear sweet never get angry or ever raise your voice Mom Clara is one of the reasons that may be why I write this blog, and so thanks Ms. Clara Belle!
And all of us children/adults all over the world want you to get well real soon and we want you to know that our prayers and heartfelt thoughts are with you and will be your strength to carry you through this blip of a glitch in time, an anomaly in your life that will be fixed!
On that plea to support a person that will feel your positivity coming through, you betcha, allow me to be the first to wish you to kindly count all your blessings and share those overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
Speaking My Mind is about: Tobi, who is a middle aged, no, oh all right a slightly over the hill woman with all the imperfections that go with that, and this concerns her daily life's perceptions and experiences.
