Oppossums, social security, inexpensive lunch, oh my!

Our day was filled with diversity!
Today was the day that I went to the Social Security office to admit to my upcoming, coming of age, of sixty-two.
But it was for a good thing to acquire some monies that were paid in while I was a working gal, get your minds out of the gutter…!
Yep, I did work legally for a salary on and off for thirty-two years, i.e. on and off while raising our wonderful brilliant handsome two sons. Yep, even number two who I still love dearly…
And so, I who have not worked for pay for quite some time, although I had volunteered, which most realize there is no pay for volunteering… I still have some monthly moola coming my way, before the summer’s end.
Hubby stated an odd fact that although my birthday is at the beginning of the month I will be receiving my taken out of my pervious paycheck savings half way through the month. The reason it appears odd is because his birthday is in the middle of the month and he receives his at the beginning, just very weird in my book.
But I am sure there is a logical reason for that, a federal government thingy, hmm?
Any-who, I will be in the money about a month and half after my birthday earlier than many since it is three years before most take their cut.
You see, many of my contemporaries have the ability or need or the desire to work and so they do until they collect a larger amount by waiting…but mine has stayed the same for years and so why not receive it at the earliest that I am legally able to?
I will be receiving a bit of Hubby’s too, and it will not take away from his current or future amounts, we were assured.

Hopefully, I will feel less like a burden since I have no other source of income other then my forty-one year marriage with Hubby and his incomes of his.
And soon I will be able to not worry when my medical issues come up to set up how to pay for them in my negotiating ways that have worked over these last nearly six years for me!
A relief, I so do hope so.

After, that was way up the other end of the trail drive, which is called the Tamiami, due to it at one time being the only main thoroughfare through route from Tampa to Miami, oh I hear you all saying!
That always happens when I tell people that… now it makes sense, not some weirdo Florida thingy again, oh poo on you if you thought that; after all a truly logical reasoning, hmm?

From there we went to the Sam’s Club for gas and ground coffee for our coffee maker, those two items that are priced the best there. Their gasoline is still at only 3.88.9 dollars a gallon while other local stations were well into the three dollar and ninety cents and above per gallon!
The large coffee we bought was twice as much as the local grocery was selling on sale for $7.99 for $10.98 there!
And so while in the area we took care of that too.

Not wanting to count our chickens before they hatch, and having been eating out quite a bit lately… we chose the special lunch menu at Wally’s again for just $4.99 each, beef tips that came with fries and cole slaw with our usual beverage choices of iced tea unsweet extra lemons for me and black coffee with sugar for Hubby and we enjoyed our meals again.

When we got home Hubby let Skipper out into the yard, but our noble canine was fascinated with one area in the cemented area off to the side of our garage courtyard. Where we have a long narrow stucco shed system that matches our home in style, and has space on either end for garbage cans and recycling bins.
Hubby sent Skipper inside, and came with him and announced that we had a mother opossum and her babies in the one recycling bin.
I suggested calling animal control, at the time, before I knew I thought foolishly that they could carry rabies, but they rarely do I found out by simply Googling them.

Sadly, it wasn’t until dinner time and after they had been picked up that I said we should have taken a picture of them.

The man, Kurt, from the animal control division who Hubby just so happened to know from the old days of being a deputy in county; Kurt without using any protective anything, gloves or any implements what-so-ever took the mom possum by the tail and her four babies clung to her and this was done in one swoop and without any harm to any of them and placed in the back of the air-conditioned caged in the rear of the vehicle, hooray!
I asked Hubby where he said that he would take them and he said that they relocate them into the woods…okay, and YEA!

Days come and go and ours at times seem uneventful and then we have something a wee bit eventful and it makes it a better day!

Update: I also called my ole friend and her mom is still in the wait mode on her surgery with being put through many tests. I suppose her age makes them all the more careful, which is a good thing! Please continue with your prayers though, and thank you!

Now allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share those overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Take cover TEXAS! And we all wish you well from those devastating tornadoes.
