Today I went on my six month check up of my eye freckle, possible eye melanoma, and so far nothing has significantly changed in my left eye, which is my cataract lens, eye freckled and vitreous humor detachment healthier one. Meanwhile my righty is the one with the optic neuritis and un-removed cataracts and now vitreous humor detachment too. And what was determined is that although legally blind in my right eye the eye doc feels that cataract surgery with a corrective lens could give me some better vision in it. And yes, he did say legally blind, and darn I thought he said ‘LEGALLY BLOND!’ Which I am since I am over the age of consent… LOL!
I mentioned what my Neuro doc said about my MRI showing that the optic nerve was no good and not going to come back and he said that there is no question about the Optic Neuritis causing the blindness but he also feels that if the cataract was operated on and a lens put in it would take some of the pressure off of lefty to do all the work and yes that is why he/she has been misbehaving, not unlike anyone with overworked over tired eyes, but just imagine one eye doing all the seeing for you?
That said I mentioned the financial strapping on us but on the good side my left eye’s cataract surgery will be paid off by this coming June, and he said to take the info to my Neuro who I mentioned I will be seeing next month, and then to see him again in six months and then decide; he assured me it is safe to wait. It’s just that he said my sight keeps changing so frequently and that he doesn’t feel that changing the prescription so often is the best answer and that the surgery could be, but not for sure either. So I have a lot to think about, don’t eye, oh wait that should be I, LOL! He did give me a free dry eye drops box, worth about eleven bucks.
After the doc’s we had lunch at Crispers for a healthy selection and my dollar off coupon was used on my lunch! It's the place where you don’t have to tip or if you do it goes right to United Way and that is owned by Publix groceries.
Next on to Wal-Mart for a few items of this and that, but first I used their handicapped bathroom in the front of store, and to my chagrin a nasty young healthy woman was in the only stall that was for people in wheel chairs or scooters like myself, and to not be too crude or rude, but I had to go and bad. And when she came out I must have spoken louder than I realized under my breath about her not being disabled or challenged and she with her filthy mouth said graphically explaining what she had been doing in the stall, and asked me what she should have done. And so I said that was inappropriate and wrong, but she remained clueless and she came back with some other expletive, which annoyed me so much… I asked her didn’t she realize that the large one with the sink in it was for wheel chairs and scooters or something like that, and then she said well there was no sign on that door! And so when I completed my own mission I approached the first employee I saw in the store itself to mention what had transpired in the bathroom and all about the young woman’s reasoning, knowing full well no one has control of their guests/customers in their place of business but out of frustration that was my only logical way to let them know what had happened and perhaps that a sign could be helpful on that last at the end of the facility door, and I got very lucky with a very nice compassionate soul who not only commiserated with me but said that she would speak to the management about that possibility, and so thank you Christina!
I was quite exhausted after dinner tonight and so I napped for a while.
As I may have mentioned when I get those dilation drops in my eyes and that other yellow stuff, I am very slow in coming back from them and so I suppose it adds to my difficulty in seeing and tiredness?
Any-who, I really thought that tonight I was not going to write as much as I did, but guess what…I DID!
Oddly enough when I arrived home I had twenty-five emails just from that time I was out, and frighteningly I received one from my across the canal neighbors saying there were photos of a young couples wedding, but the reason I was taken aback was the first names were the same as my estranged son’s and his wife and they divorced two years after they married in 2004! And so right now I am in no mood or capable of looking at them and giving them the attention they so rightfully deserve, since my sight is even more compromised, oddly enough the newlyweds are the children of my other neighbor across the canal, wow weird, but I did remember that her middle son had the same name as our youngest son, but it was so odd that he married a gal with the same name as my ex-daughter-in-law too of that son!
On that oddity of the evening let me be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you all to please count those blessings and share those overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
Speaking My Mind is about: Tobi, who is a middle aged, no, oh all right a slightly over the hill woman with all the imperfections that go with that, and this concerns her daily life's perceptions and experiences.
