We have been experiencing extreme rain storms; better them than hurricanes I say! It all starts with the sky darkening and the wind blowing so hard you think a tornado will soon follow, but thankfully it does not.
The lightening brightens the way for the roaring thunder, and then the clamor creates electrical outages that blink our power out then back on two or three times a hit.
Ah weather….ah summer in Florida… I know it is soon over around the rest of the country with the numerical beginning of fall this coming Tuesday, but not here.
We live in a continuous summer with splatterings of occasional chills on a temporary basis that is. Some times as long as a week or two!
After all this is southwest Florida, whatever did you think we get leafless trees and need to rake those matted messes up?
I know… they are so pretty; you northerners always say look at all those colors!
Yep, red, yellow, orange, brown all have fallen to the ground! Just soooo beautiful!
Then comes winter with white cotton frozen marshmallows, Currier and Ives picturesque paintings, but soon yellowed by nature reliving itself, oh what a joy! Plow, plow, plow, shovel, shovel, shovel this is the way I get my winter workout, got to keep warm, have to get out of here!
Ah seasonal change; I ask you… is it really what it’s cracked up to be?
Give me a rain storm wild and true with warmth anew fresh and clean; it never yellows and we don’t need to plow or shovel at all in or around our hovel; that is FLORIDA!
A deciduous tree is a rarity here, most trees love to flaunt there leaves year round, protects them from the sun and soaks up the rain water.
Update on Casey, he has been sleeping and loving me as he nuzzles me with his chin as he lies on my belly. He must know that something is not right, but cannot express it…I tell him that I love him and he listens as if he understands; it is all so truly sad that there is nothing that can be done.
I will wish you all a good night and hold your dear ones close, take care, be safe, and count those blessings and I will try to find some of mine.
