Semantics is the study of how meaning in language is created by the use and interrelationships of words, phrases, and sentences and also the study of the relationship between symbols and what they represent and lest us not forget the study of ways of interpreting and analyzing theories of logic.
And so tonight here we go…
As I have journeyed into this realm before discussing how sometimes misunderstandings occur due to not explicitly getting your meaning of what you want to be known, i.e. expressed properly; got that?
I am guilty here at my own self-imposed blogging venue, and perhaps more than I should be with this daily exercise in trying hard to determine my ability to have my ideas known for everyone to get, hopefully so understand as well.
By now, it should be as easy as pie, hmm?
But as we all know that is not so.
Finding the proper way to deal with misinterpretation is an everlasting and tedious task.
Some times, the way my mind works or doesn’t, it makes it most difficult.
It’s not that I don’t get what I must say, in my head I do know exactly, but how does one express those thoughts where others get them too?
Sounds in theory so simple, but unfortunately not so!
Even in emails I screw up and my mind seems to twist the actual meaning of things I get sent. And so, I find myself misinterpreting or explaining what I think needs to be cleared up, and very often it is me not getting them and their meaning, huh?
Yep, I speak English, but do I really?
My brain is too confused to make anything simple these days, and I even have proof that I do have a brain; aha I saw the pictures of my MRI!
What I would like to know is could all the medication that I need to live, but no pain medication what-so-ever, could blood pressure, thyroid, cholesterol, heart, MS injections, and anti-spasmodic, GERD, and ant-acid medications, oops forgot those pesky vitamins, multiple senior and calcium with D! OY VEY! I am such an addict!
Some days I would love to chuck them all… but I digress…
So in conclusion that can’t be it, could it?
These are habit forming, with the consideration if I don’t take them I could die, and that is why I will keep taking them!
Moving on…With two important updates!
More great news; early this morning I heard from my friend’s brother via email, the friend living near Nashville, she and her family survived a very close call and hunkered down in their closet with pillows, her, her twin daughters two puppies and her husband!
And later on this afternoon my cousin in the Kentucky/Ohio area called me to let me know she too was okay! Truly, TA DA worthy!
See, now that was plain English and I bet you all understood that I can only hope…? Sadly, the count of dead continues to go up…in this our heartland…
Hubby and I went out again today for a mini food run for this and that’s, and it was wonderful again to escape our lovely abode, that I have to admit even as cheerful as it is, can close in on you at times…ya know?
On that last note of my confused reasoning, allow me to wish all of you a very happy good night and to ask you all to count your blessings and to kindly share your overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
PS Happy 100th Birthday OREO, how we all love them!
Speaking My Mind is about: Tobi, who is a middle aged, no, oh all right a slightly over the hill woman with all the imperfections that go with that, and this concerns her daily life's perceptions and experiences.

The wind has been blowing on and off...
And we have been told that all the horrors of the last few days to our north will not be coming here, no tornadoes here as they were in our tornado alley, heartland of America.
Horribly the death toll rises daily from the ones that did hit those regions and now at this writing was over thirty and presumed to be rising with so much rubble…
The weather had its time spent in our panhandle today with a tornado there and in South Georgia too; so the news/weather reports stated this morning.
Two people that I care about live in the areas that were hard hit, northern Kentucky southern Ohio and also in the Nashville area as well. I had tried calling my cousin in the first locale, and my friend in the other but neither could be reached…worrisome, oh very, very worrisome.
Next step tomorrow would be to try to contact the Red Cross, but at this point I would just be interfering in what they are trying to accomplish and so I will wait to hear from my cousin and friend or even my friend’s brother, who I emailed. You know having cells or unlisted numbers are great except when something like this comes up making it difficult to get in touch.
Today, Hubby and I did go out to finally get a new house phone; ours was probably older than twenty years old and the battery had been replaced a while back and was expensive just for that, so we opted to get one of those new fangled jobbies at Best Buy. We got lucky the model we liked was on sale for $39.99 plus tax, with two handsets, caller I.D., answering machine, intercom and speaker which will enable Hubby to be able to go outside and not worry and if I need him I will be able to get him in as fast as he can arrive and it is a Panasonic to boot, but usually priced at over sixty bucks!
We also went crazy on our journey with our first stop going to Bed, Bath and beyond to buy my wish list, wild crazy idea of an oil mister that is used instead of buying those bottle sprays, and the one we used to use rhymes with cam… Any-who, with this one you can put your own olive oil in without who knows what in it, the pure stuff, and even switch it out to install any vinegars or lemon juice what-have-you and use less! The Misto in a stainless steal pump can and was just $9.99, but refillable with your own stuff and with their coupon of 20% off, only $7.99 plus tax, but of course, what a deal? If it works out and we find that we like it; maybe next time we will get a spare, hmm?
We wound ourselves through the parking lot there and found our eating hole to be this time TGIF, and we had a large lunch reasonably priced and a lighter dinner, the way us older folks are supposed to do it, I think?
And from there we checked out the Beach Complex but although it was busy with people swimming in the pool and sunning on the beach and utilizing the tennis, volley ball, basketball courts and the bocce field, nothing for me was there to see.
They used to have a farmer’s market and antiques displayed indoors in the building there, many vendors some new and some with not so new merchandise but interesting and out in the parking lot on occasion too.
I suppose there is a schedule for that somewhere and I will have to do more research on that…Anyway, it was on our way home and that was our last stop!
Lunacy erupted soon after our arrival, it was a sunny warm beautiful day, yet above our home it was thundering or at least it sounded that way!
But alas, no it wasn’t that at all, what it was was our solar panels. Our neighbor across the canal even called to tell us, he didn't realize the racket that we were hearing inside the house. They had been installed back in 2005 with the pool at that time and they had been showing their wear for the last few years with leaks that Hubby repaired and all was good for a while and today they had their last hoorah!
The wind as I stated earlier was blowing and those were what they were blowing and Hubby in all his difficult ability due to a compromised back injury rose to the occasion and realized that they were goners and needed to be removed and so he did…and cut them up for the garbage pick up this coming Wednesday to be easier to remove.
I can’t go into a hot pool anyway and so maybe, who knows if I might be able to go into it now?
We will see…
Tomorrow the storm could be nasty anyway and now we have one less thing to be concerned with blowing away!
See, we can find the silver lining in anything if we look hard enough!
Moving on... a bit...
Rush Limbaugh apologized to the young woman he berated the other day, making himself feel better, I am sure. But he lied saying that it was not meant to be a personal attack? He used her name in his venomous statements, and if that’s not personal I’m a conservative right winger, ha!
Ah realization too late, but I would also be a liar if I did not also in my recent past not admit that I too have been guilty of saying things without thinking it through all the way, hmm? He too must have a broken filter; there you go that explains it!
Brings to mind some biblical concepts of the one about those who haven't sinned being able to throw the first stone or some such thing, hmm?
And so, that is where I will leave it, he does not deserve my venue to be discussed… Allow me then to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you too kindly to count all your blessings and share those overages with all you know that need them and we will too!
And next time be here or be square, ya hear?

So much going on; where shall I begin?
Hubby stated a sad realization that the weather news was like watching that movie Groundhog Day again, since miserably the storms that hit elsewhere the other day again hit directly on tornado alley once again!
More deaths and more devastation and more horrible visually horrendous pictures of it all; if only something could be done…
But no, again way too fast, like a freight train and no safe place to hide…
It’s as if nature has declared the area a war zone and that is what it looks like after, as if being attacked with casualties as well; heartbreaking and so darn frustrating.
Again our prayers go out to all involved.
Daily I request for you to count your blessings and to share your overages and now I insist that you do and direct them, you know where… and we will too!
Moving on to something more insidious in my opinion…
Rush Limbaugh does he know what he spews from his mouth and how he provokes hatred from like minded beings? He has the freedom of speech that is not censored and yet he is more lethal than a weapon with how he uses it, at times, I think. Perhaps he was mistreated by someone he respected one time and he feels he must take those emotions out on an innocent college woman, who wants to be sexually responsible if she falls in love. Is it better to make children that are not loved?
Sadly, he acts as if he may have been one of those…makes one think, him? Sorry, Mr. Limbaugh, but you bring out the nasty in the best of us, have you ever thought of that? And is it not a crime to insight some to riot with your over the top condemnation of another human being with the same rights as ours? I’m not a lawyer, Geez, but that young woman is studying to become one, perhaps we should ask her? Slim chance of that, hmm?
What could you be thinking of to be so very, very cruel?
Oh, don’t get me wrong you and I both have our right to express our opinion on air or in written word, but to be so strong in your negative convictions; to cause a young person so much possible emotional stress and hurt to me seems way over the top? A crude tirade! Pick on someone your own size!
Any-who… What all this stuff above teaches us that life is to be lived to the fullest and enjoy every minute of it…AND always “Dance till you drop”, is what I would like to think is an evening of joy for most youngins and once upon a time myself, and so to express happiness or joy say that!
My wish for the world and everyone it is to know that nothing is ever to be taken for granted, hug the one you love tighter and let them know that you love them and always, DANCE TILL YOU DROP, if only in your mind…sleep well friends, be well friends and always try to make the most of each and every day!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
I start roll call tomorrow! Just want to know that you’re all, all right.

Clarity is definition of an explanatory premise
And the fear of any writer is turning off a potential reader, i.e. customer with not consuming their product, therefore their words with intent to draw them in to read on...
Last night I am afraid my title of the blog turned some possible converters to becoming followers with a metaphoric slight of hand, off.
Let me try to explain, trying to entice your attention to my blog I utilized a title that if not understood may have been considered rather provocative in its word usage, you decide, “Intercalary or bissextile year”?
Now if you did not get passed that title perhaps you would have been confused bewildered or even insulted with not knowing the true meanings of those words…
‘Intercalary’: simply means a year with an addition, a Leap Year is an intercalary year, that’s all!
Now the more perfunctory word bissextile: meaning: having the extra day in the year that makes it a leap year!
And so with not as big of a bunch of responses as many others’ of my blogs… I think those who know me as a rated G or at times a PG hacker with wholesome fun and occasional information might have been confused by the title? I hope they will go back and re-read the whole blog;
that’s all I ask for is a second chance, okay?
The death toll rises from those horrid tornadoes that went through our heartland’s tornado alley yesterday and we all send our prayers with our heartfelt concerns to all of you who may have lost loved ones or even homes and businesses.
Devastation is something that takes time to come through and hopefully with the support of others somehow it does help make it not too difficult to recover; as best anyone can in these situations.
It brings back chills just hearing it on the news since our own experience back in 2004 with Hurricane Charley and its direct hit on us in our home…so we get it!
Wish no one had to get it.
Makes us all wonder why we have so much control in our lives, but still not the weather, hmm?
Frustrating and extremely upsetting.
Being of the type A persuasion and I am not talking blood type although, now that I think of that, that too, but I digress…
Type A people need to be in-charge, therefore always in control of a situation and some may even call us control freaks!
And when we find something that we cannot control like the weather, we feel as if we have failed… well, not really failed more like we get angry at the fact that it is something we have no power over.
But I must admit over the last several years I have not had control over very much, and by that I mean my health issues. Even the most ornery of us who used to feel that power when we would deal with any ill when we first find out, we check all the newest and the latest to know how to help ourselves and to try and make it better and then we may even go through denial that we have anything wrong and lastly we resign ourselves that it could be out of our hands to control and that we may have to depend on people more educated in the fields of expertise than our selves…Gosh, what a let down; knowing that you cannot do something the best by yourself for yourself!
Tormented and frustrated is how many feel, me included at times and so… We try to put on a brave front or complain in secret like I do here, oops, you mean to tell me this isn’t private, ha, I know that!
Sadly many women to me are not dissimilar to men in the fact that they close up when something bothers them and let it fester to grow bigger and who knows then could BURST!
Those gals feel it is better not to share any of these most personal ramblings and that any who do tell all, like their age and even their weight, gosh is nothing sacred? HA to you dear Joy Behar and I truly do love you as a View person and an entertainer with your insults equally to everyone.
And yes, I do share and have found some/many can relate and it builds online families with commonalties…
PS Dear sweet Joy, I still don’t tell my current weight anymore, since I refuse to get on a scale and I really don’t know because of that. I do have an inkling, but not a good one and you would be shocked and so would I; and so really, what or who would that help, ya know? I only tell the weight I was when I was thin about seven years ago, by the way, so there!
Jargon is terminology, slang, lingo, argot, language or gobbledygook, and being not a school teacher by profession or an English major either in college, or even a secretary, my grammar may make some cringe at times, especially all you Grammar Nazis, and for that I do apologize. Just thought I would throw that one in since I recall about a week ago when they, Barbara Walters (who I have an equal fondness for, or is that whom?) and Joy Behar were picking on Lisa Kudrow on the title of the show that she produces, “ Who Do You Think You Are?”
telling her that it should be, “WHOM DO YOU THINK
YOU ARE?” to be grammatically correct!
Any-who, I was surprised that Barbara confessed at that time that they; meaning herself and Joy were grammar Nazis! And I do know that Barbara is a Jew, like me and that Joy is on her second husband whom is Jewish too!
Kidding, or am I?
Who knows, who cares, but poor Lisa, who I also believe belongs to the tribe…that’s all.
On that bit of oddity and exploiting the Joy of Joy and Babs too, allow me to be one of the first to wish you all a very good night and to ask you all to count those blessings and to ask you to kindly to share those overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
PS You do know that it all boils down to lousy or excellent editing anyway, right?

Intercalary or bissextile year
Sounds intriguing and a bit, dare I say, sexy?
Actually, it’s none of that at all.
It is referencing the Leap Year.
We utilize the Gregorian calendar and most years that are easily divisible by four are leap years.
And the Gregorian calendar is a modification of the Julian calendar by the Romans and it has been this way since 46 B.C., how do you like them apples?
If you too wish to be more informed may I suggest copy and pasting this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leap_year
Moving on…
Mitt Romney squeaked by in Michigan last night’s race for the Republican nomination with 41% of the Republican vote winning and took Arizona by a large margin of 47%. Am I crazy, don’t answer that, but when did less than fifty percent become a large margin? Oh, that’s right, its Republican-speak for glass half-full, gotcha, wink, wink. Next Tuesday is Super Tuesday where ten of our states all get to vote for their selection of the nominee for the Republican candidate, and then Mr. Romney, we will see what we can see, hmm? No guts, no glory!
Either way, he still shows in the poles that he cannot beat Obama, our main man who already resides in the Whitehouse, and we all know that in the finale vote on November 6, 2012 that will be the final decision!
As I always feel in my heart and soul that time will tell.
Blogger’s note:
*All I have to say it is nice to see that solid husbands are in the running, not philanderers; although, some have been great presidents in spite of their wandering eyes or other body parts (Oops did I say that, cringe factor), hmm?
Lousy husbands but great leaders, how odd that we the Sodom and Gomorra of the world; without moralities until it comes down to choosing who watches our store/government, we hypocritically become so prudish, how odd, really; wouldn’t you say?
Hubby did his little nicety for the day by putting our neighbor’s garbage can away; the neighbor is a fireman/EMS person and is on duty overnight.
Doing any little thing is good, right, and also considered being neighborly, true?
Creating small acts of kindness are welcomed; you would be so surprised with the reactions from most people, really?
Try it and you may be very overwhelmed with any reaction you get.
Just kinda make sure that they know that you are putting it back in their yard or designated space and not stealing it…that’s why you can do it when no one is home, ha!
Those things are expensive to replace…ya know?
Any-who, be kind and all will be fine and take the time to use your own rhyme…
Now to get back to reality, sadly, again, it is a horrible nasty weather time throughout Tornado Alley of our heartland of America and many states have felt that devastation, to all of us it has caused a mutual sorrow but our hearts and support goes to them all. Please remember that.
Allow me on that bit or sorrow to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages with people that need them and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Hypocritical and criminal...!
I feel just awful, and maybe you can relate…
This evening is the night before our garbage pickup in the wee hours of tomorrow morning and we like, many others, I am sure, go through their refrigerators looking for food that may be accused of being a student’s science project!
Now of course with us home more it doesn’t happen as much as it used to when we were an active family and would make mega meals or have incoming ones that would be forgotten about, and sadly meet their makers when they would either smell ungodly or turn pretty shades of non-food colors…YUCK!
Yes, this is a failing of most human beings no matter how much we all try NOT to forget those leftovers, who in their right mind wants to eat them more than one more time, really?
Sure all those food channels give you leftover recipes to make chicken thirty different ways, or chop meat or fish what-have-you, and I suppose some of us are more apt to experiment with those creative concepts, but really?
Not very conservationist of us, hmm?
We do save on most all purchases in all areas of our life, but unforgivably we cannot seem to stop this bad behavior, of tossing things that have died in the dear old fridge…
Yes, some weeks it is only one thing and others it could be as many as three items, but in my heart of hearts I feel so very bad when even one leaves… ya know it; somehow it seems so wrong!
Confessions are good for the soul, so they (Hmm, ‘they, again, I promise I won’t go there again, at least not now.) say, and nightly I disgrace myself and some of my family and friends too with these so-called redemption admissions, but I do know not everyone appreciates me being so candid…
Well, I have two words for you, TOO BAD!
And don’t tell me that most of what I write about, that you haven’t done at least once or twice yourself, hmm friends?
Chucking that chuck roast or had played chicken keep away with your chicken or tossed that tossed salad, hmm?
Don’t make me go on, fess up; we all have, dare I say wasted FOOD!
Gosh, just seeing the words trickle from the keyboard causes me to hear my Mom saying the Chinese are starving, finish this or that!
Boy, have times changed, sure people are starving but I do believe we here in the United States also have starving or underfed children too.
And just the thought makes me take pause and also wonder if I ate those leftovers would they have been fed?
Now that is completely ridiculous!
But perhaps with our over abundances of our fortunate ability to make too much, maybe just maybe before it goes the way of scientific research in our own Petri-dishes in our fridges we could take those hot well cooked meals of way too much and share?
But with who and how?
Well, that will be my assignment and once I figure those two little issues out I will get back to you, okay?
I feel so much better getting that off my chest, not literarily, figuratively, but if I did, that too would be very weird?
Any-who, allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share those overages and we will too!

Storm coming...
And so I will try hard to beat any possible outages! Since the thunder is roaring.
Yes, here in Florida they do happen.
Why don’t you have any outages when your storms come to your part of the world?
I do believe that transformers and I don’t mean the convertible vehicles from the movies or toys, ha; these transformers appear to be the power source for our utility companies all over our fine United States.I think they are the target for lightening, really? Who knows...it seems that way to me though.
A quiet has taken over and now it seems there is a lull in its taunting of its playful rumblings.
We have been going through our normal dry period here, but this past summer was too, and so any moisture would be a welcome relief.
Since moving to this coast in 1995 from the other coast, where we had lived from 1986, amazingly we have been on watering restrictions due to a low aquifer. Meaning that the reservoirs are low too as well as personal well systems and that we at one point tried to have installed, but they were no longer doing them where we live. Thus our rain barrels that do hold 110 gallons between the two and that is for mostly our vegetable garden and other plants that need refreshment and are weeping sadly; it goes quite far when you conserve like that.
The lawn is our first in all the forty-one years without a sprinkler system due to that; Hubby was in the business in NJ for many years. City water which we have going into our home, for the first time this month’s bill was higher than our electric bill!
So you can well understand why we feel the way we do about water being a very precious commodity, and we do not take it for granted. Most don’t get that, unless they have experienced water conservations bestowed upon them by their community, and yes for the seventeen years we have only two days a week that we can water, before ten A.M. and after four P.M., due to it not evaporating. The heat of the day will do that and then you would have watered for nothing!
It’s difficult for Hubby to see the new people who bought homes across our canal watering when they shouldn’t be during the hottest part of the day and not on their designated ones…yes you can water new lawn and plantings for the first thirty day period, but neither were doing that.
They are new here they just moved in this summer and Hubby was tempted to call code enforcement but he thought that he could not, and then he even considered telling them himself but thought again about it… new people and all, dilemma!
They have introduced themselves to him, a while back and chat across the canal occasionally, but he is not longer in law enforcement and the rule of thumb was not to police your own neighborhood. Although, the patrol car was always a deterrent it seemed for most to be law abiding.
I was a devilish gal when I was able to walk and would do my constitutional around the block daily. If I saw anything off kilter I would call code while on my trek, and they appreciated and things got better around here. You see the area was in a pretty bad way between the hurricane’s devastation and the downturn causing all those horrendous foreclosures our neighborhood was pretty raggedy!
But enough of us curmudgeons complained, since that’s what we get joy from, kidding! Killjoy or not we took action and got it in return, unfortunately some squatters threatened me by saying I hope you get hit by a car, but they didn’t own one that is only the one up on blocks…
Scary, I did stop walking not much after that, but not because of that, because I couldn’t do it physically; hips and legs gave out.
And so dear friends of this world if I could ask one thing of you all, that would be think before you turn that faucet on, that’s all.
Allow me now to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share your overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
PS Update: More good news, my yearly cranial MRI showed that my MS is stable, and you were all worried, Geez, I wasn’t, not for a minute…Oh Okay maybe just a little. See I am no good at lying… Actually, I read just the other day that my Copaxone actually can cause the demyelination to remyelination that means regenerate, miraculous, hmm? Hope so!
Meanwhile, my sinuses and thyroid and cervical stenosis all keep me on my toes and in pain… and darn those little floaters and flashers flicker from my righty eye still…!
The word for the day is ‘LE’, which in Swedish means smile!
