Welcome to square root day, 3-3-09

Today is a unique day, which until this particular day I had no idea it had a specific name, "Square Root Day" and it is very slightly similar to, “Leap Year”, but does not come as frequently, and named for a totally different reason Math wizards are the main geeks involved in this idiosyncratic blip in time. The last one we had was on 2-2-04, and you got it, today is 3-3-09! I know you got it by now the third number of the day is also the square root of the first two identical ones, multiplies evenly!
Not that hard to figure out how it got its name and PS our next one won’t be until 4-4-16!
Actually, it does occur nine times each century.
Since this is my second century that I have had the pleasure of being a part of so I thought others might find this distinctive day interesting too.
That didn’t come out right I am not going on my second hundred years what I meant is that I was born in the middle of the last and have continued into this newest one; got it?
I’m sure you do and you did, but one cannot be too clear I have found out.

Our economy is down by half in car sales, but we all knew that; slowest pace since 1981.
Our president’s popularity stays at 60%, Michele’s popularity is 63%; how about that?
The recession’s fears came to a boil on capital hill today.
Chairmen Bernanke is also furious about having to bail out banks and big business, but we haven’t much choice, an example: such as AIG 180B in help as of Monday.

Has anyone besides me noticed how regal Hilary Clinton looks these days? I do believe she is enjoying her new job, anyway she seems to have been born to it.

Day two of my husband’s dismantling of the neighbor’s gifted fence; slow but steady and he is continuing to get more done each day, and yes that would be silly for otherwise!
Boy, I am explaining everything I say tonight, and I truly hope it is understandable that is my interpretations of what I mean.

Here I go again; language is often misunderstood even when we try to plain-speak it.

So these are the days of all our lives.
I have been told that I have a tendency to speak too fast, but that’s just the northeasterner still left in me.
My years there and my years here are still not equal.
I lived there slightly longer, by 13 years at this point.
Those years will even out eventually, and some day even pass my old roots if I am lucky and live long enough; one can only hope.

On that positive note I will bid you good night to all and to all count those blessings…look hard they are there.
Did you wake up alive this morning? That’s a blessing.
Did you breathe on your own? That’s a blessing.
Did you see the sunshine or clouds cover the sky? Well, either way that’s a blessing.
Have you eaten at least three meals today on your own? That’s a Blessing!
Were you warm enough today? If yes, that’s a blessing.
The above are just some examples of things so many of us take for granted, but you and I both know that there are so many more, and all I ask is for you to count as many of them or your own ones each and everyday and realize they are some people in some places who cannot count even one of them. And then you should realize what is truly important…yes, you got it…that you know how to count, there you go another blessing!
Gotcha!

Impatience is rampant

These days we have been hearing from all types of people from every walk of life when it comes to an opinion on how to run the country and how they think what would work best to change things for the better, and prevent the government from intervening.

Well, hello Americans and others we all had this little thing called an election that tallied our vote’s way back in November and the man we chose for the job is doing it!

I know, I know no one thinks it is working yet, hello America; it’s only been 41
days and so give the guy a break!
This mess didn’t happen overnight and it definitely won’t get better that fast either.

We all realize how frightening this financial markets thing is as well as housing foreclosures and loss of jobs. If we haven’t been personally touched by these horrid situations then we do know people who have been and our hearts go out to them all.
Unfortunately, I have no ability to change things.
It hurts hearing every night how it all seems to get worse day by day.
These are the times that I wish I had a magic wand that worked to change it all now!

Just a couple of days ago an old neighbor, but a fairly young man, younger than our sons, who basically left his home to the bank because he couldn’t afford to sell it at a fifty percent loss of what he owed from his re-financing when the market was good, although he still owns it until the 13 th of this month he came back to pack up the last of his personal items still left inside. He had given so many things away including his wood fence to my husband who started working on the disassembling of it today. The home is only on the other side of the cleared lot that used to have a home on it before Hurricane Charley in 2004; perhaps a hundred and twenty-five feet from us, our lots are all three the same, 125’X75’ footage on the water. He had installed the fence to hide his view of the sadness of seeing the empty lot.

My hubby is taking his time, and other than some wasps in the wood and a few spiders the weather here has been co-operating by staying in the low to mid 70’s and sunny with a slight gusty wind. Fortunately, we have our boat trailer that he is using to move everything on and brought it over there by car to fill and brought it all back to work on here taking out nails. It will take many trips back and forth for days, but he is determined with purpose.

Being cautious, he also verified that it still belongs to the young man and also asked for him to sign an agreement to the gift just in case someone in authority questions his removing it.

Right now the Coast Guard is still looking for 3 of the four missing boaters off the coast of St. Pete here on our West coast of Florida, one young man, Nick Skyler, has been found with his life jacket on clinging to the 21’ boat thirty-five miles off the coast the others no where in sight, but presumably also with lifejackets. Two of the others are NFL players.
Our prayers go out to all of them and their families.

The market was the lowest it has been since 1997 down to 6763.29, -299.64.
AIG Insurance lost more than 61B in the last six months.
AIG needs the bailout or other banks worldwide will fail.

No wonder Rush Limbaugh is worried about us bailing them out and telling us to keep the government out of everything or we will become a socialistic country instead of remaining capitalistic. His personal income has been raised to 100M recently and he has seemed to forgotten that the majority of the world’s people are not millionaires like him and do need the banks NOT to Fail. Actually, all extremely wealthy people seem more concerned with their, rightfully so that their taxes will be escalating.
Too bad I say!
All during the last administration they had been getting away with murder, financially speaking that is; it is about time for them to pay their fair share.

Paul Harvey died this weekend at the age of ninety. I liked Paul Harvey and when I was a district manager I particularly enjoyed listening to him on the car radio when I drove 3K a month in this state to each of the five stores that I had to train sales people for back in the early 1990’s.
His voice was so soothing; some even felt that he sounded like God.
Whatever he had he got your attention immediately when he signed onto the airways.
He was a bit of warmth of home no matter where my job took me he was the consistency that we all look for on the road.

On that pleasant memory of a one of a kind guy’s voice I will bid you good night to all and to all count those blessings and I will too.

How are we doing?

You do know that is a loaded question when asked by anyone that is: how we actually are.
I always wonder if they mean now at this minute or for the year or last ten, or health wise, or could it be as personal as financially?
In this day and age nothing is sacred.
People are concerned and feel that you should want to talk.
Well, whenever I am asked that question I will answer with way TMI, too much information, you see in my mind they aren’t being just polite, they really want to know about it all.
I know what does that say about me?
Possibly that I might be considered lonely, bored or just not concerned with any privacy at all?
Too be honest it is the two latter statements I would have to say; it’s not like I have state’s secret in my portfolio or anything close to that at all, and that shouldn’t be a secret anyway; remember the Freedom of Information Act and all that.

Any who can anyone tell me in what class on behavioral correctness people were taught to ask that specific non specific question?
I do know that children are taught from a very young age to say please and thank you and any scout troop will reinforce that behavior.
But to train anyone to ask a question that they really honestly don’t need to know the answer or want to know it, to me seems just wrong, you know what I am saying.
So from now on I am declaring for all thinking human beings not to ask a question that they do not care about the answer or outcome of, OK?
To me that would seem so much more honest.
Politeness, be damned!
Honesty is the best policy.
Now that is settled.

All is well again with my dear cousins we all had a pleasant day at the Art Festival then on to a late lunch, and topped the evening off with a few hands of cards.
The day was just right.

And I am very happily pooped.

So I will bid you all a good night and to all count those blessings and I will too.

3.5 trillion budget...sounds so unreal...

That's what our new guy wants to do; put us on a 3.5 trillion budget I personally think I could handle that!
Do you want to know what I would do to stay on it?
Here I go… shop at all the warehouse stores for non perishables and bulk meats and fish, go to thrift shops, discount and outlet stores for our clothes, keep our paid for car and not drive unnecessarily; causing better gas mileage usage wise.
Turn off the lights, electric appliances, or fans when I leave a room.
Put a rain barrel in to prevent high water bills and add a drip system to water a vegetable garden to save money on vegetables.
Get rid of cable and buy a converter, ooops did that nearly fifteen years ago; cable not the converter but have that since June.
Go to the library for free entertainment for reading, music and movies.
Mmm if I can think of other saving tricks I will.
That should help I am very sure I can stay in that thirty-five thousand dollar budget!
What you say? Haven’t you been already doing all of that?
Yes we have and we can!

Oh silly me he said 3.5 trillion I thought he said 35 thousand, well that’s different!
Fly in those lobsters from Maine, call Saks and Tiffany’s I will be taking those baubles and trinkets I had on lay-away!
Gas up the Rolls and the Learjet; we are going on a junket for the celebration of ding, ding, ding spending!

Of course I am kidding but it is mind boggling the talking about the dollar amounts being bandied about, and to think that our actual ‘Sugar Daddy’ is in China or maybe it is just China the country? That country on the other side of the world is backing up these crazy monetary deals coming down our pike since before the election. We are eventually all going to be speaking Chinese, mark my words! Then we can look forward to being asked on computer bank lines and elsewhere if you would like them to speak to you in English, Spanish or Chinese? I studied Spanish in high school, but not Chinese; didn’t know I would need it. And no I do not consider myself a bigot, but think about it. They basically own us now. As we all know our dollar has nothing backing it anymore or I could be wrong, but probably not keep it hush, hush.
I am unsure of what to think since I am not that smart enough to know if all this is good or downright bad only time will tell.

The new Pres is trying to keep his promises, really I do believe him; the fact that he is going to go for an August 31st 2010 removal of the majority of the troops in Iraq I think is a good thing, but you know, yep, I'm not too smart, sounds good though that much less soldiers being killed. That date is important in a small way to me, it just so happens that, that date would have been my brother’s 79th birthday being born on 8-31-31, but as you may know he has been gone for a few years now. RE: this Blog (10-23-24-08)

I will now bid you good night to all and to all count those blessings and I will too.

Choices and why decisions can be fun if not interesting

Being a fairly decisive person, but honestly not always, but I do admire others with that consistent ability.
So it does my heart good to know that one of the major concerns of our countrymen and woman has seemed to be decided.
The first dog’s breed, a Portuguese water dog seems to have become the popular favorite chosen one at this writing, although as we all know these things can change and often do.
Now the name seems for this famous critter appears to be in somewhat of a tie, either Moose or Frank, apparently it will be a male or not.
Now if I was asked which I would prefer, which more than likely I would not be, but let’s just say for arguments sake that if I were, my choice would be definitely an unqualified without hesitation that it would have to be Frank, since our President Obama has always been honest with us therefore, “frank” would be the unquestionable right choice in my opinion.
And Moose is a creature more at home in, dare I say Alaska, and we all know who we associate with that state, enough unsaid.
And these are my unabashed unrequested opinions and reasons for them, TA DA, so there!

Portuguese water dogs are of medium size about 45-50 lbs. and do not shed, which is good for children with allergies.
They are great swimmers, thus the name and are friendly and loving with everyone in the family, but they are also good watchdogs.
Young, puppies’ need many chew toys because as most pups they enjoy chewing on just about anything they can get in their mouths and so many chew toys are very necessary.
They are high energy and do well with large properties, but can be trained for an apartment dweller too.
All and all they do sound just like what our new guy asked for a non girlie type pet, you can’t really blame him with him being so out numbered with all those women in his living quarters?
Malia’s allergies should be in check with Frank’s coat not shedding.
It appears to be the perfect match for a young family with high energy and an allergic child, a win, win like all else for our new first family!
Happy families make good decisions, and so we will all win too.

I know no one asked me to weigh in on this major decision for our first family, but being an animal lover myself knowing how you will be spending the next 14 to 16 years with that type of commitment is so important to anyone who truly cares.
After all it is the only family member you can choose!

So on that note... let me just say again good night to all and to all count your blessings and I will too.

How was your day?

My day today was blah, blah, blah and I suppose that should be considered boring.
Oh wait a minute the word blah is used when describing talking and no, not too much of that was done today.
Yep, I checked that’s when it’s used for non important words or talking.
Boy isn’t language great; we even have a word for not talking?
But sometimes even when we speak the same language we still get misunderstood, odd how that is?
Interpretation is how the mind accepts the information going in and then turns it back into an acknowledgement of whatever has been said. We react to most verbiage with a response to verify or with some other form of body language perhaps a smile or nod if in agreement or a shake of the head or a frown if not.
Words are remarkable and so are we as humans, does anyone but me think it is extremely interesting how on earth we all learned to communicate and then screw it up in our modern civilization so badly that we go to war because of it?

Day after day we open our mouths to utter a daily sound of a compilations of whatever our brain figures we are trying to noise into our environment to be noticed as thinking relevant beings, amazing, I say!
The process is something most of us take for granted it is done not always with much thought and that is usually what I do…speak without thinking so that is why I do say I have foot in mouth disease.
But to be fair many of us do have this problem.
Consequences of these unabashed uncensored commentaries are on occasion entertaining but can be treacherous and inflammatory to whomever you may be speaking within any given moment.
So mouthers beware.
We are a breed amongst not too many others in this day and age of conformity.
Some people actual do come with built in censoring machines, and at times that makes me jealous, but wary.
How can one trust someone who is too careful with the words that the Merriam Webster gave us to use?

Life is dangerous and one must take chances to make it interesting I say!
So fling those nouns, adjectives adverbs etc. all over the air fronts since they are not tangible polluters although they can pollute if a little dirty, be respectful of those surrounding us is all I will say.

I do believe I heard somewhere that sleep deprivation could be compared to cocaine use, and with my many sleepless nights maybe I will gain the ability to become a great writer like Poe or King?
Nah, I would really prefer sleep and write like me however that is.
Onward I say!
Try to be great in my own teeny non-penmanship world.
So without a pen is it still mightier than the sword?
Sort of like the tree falling in the forest with no one there does it still make a sound?

That’s all gibberish; I told you all that I was sleep deprived.
So sorry that tonight’s Blogging was more like clogging, hah, I made a funny, but that’s the way I feel confused and exhausted.
So I will bid you good night to all and to all count those blessings and I will too.

Very high blood pressure and more medication

Through the roof is what the medical professional said to me about my blood pressure, and yes I had taken my blood pressure medicine over an hour before going to my appointment. She also took it to check to see if it had gone down, since a different nurse, a male one had taken it the first time, and it had slightly gone down, but still, 145 over 94, before it had been 154 over 100, not good.
And so now I am also on an ACE inhibitor added to my regular blood pressure medication as well as my cholesterol medicine.

I want off of this nasty unhealthy ride!
This nurse-practitioner is the one who saw me that decided that I needed the additional meds and that more than likely my frequent headaches, daily they are, could be caused by my ridiculous hypertension.
All the pain in my different locations shoulders and hips she concluded what I too thought my MS as well as the osteoarthritis, and she did say with my GI history, stomach problems of ulcers IBS etc. med wise there were not too many choices, but she did give me the phone number for someone that could recommend a pain management person that might work on a sliding scale for payment, but just from our brief info, income how many people in the family etc., over the phone the best they could do for me would be $200 an office visit, not disallowing my husband’s SSI disability like the health department does, if we didn’t have that we too would be up a creek without a paddle it allows us to pay our bills on time. (PS for you out of country people that is something that while you work they take out of your paycheck all those years for just this purpose it is not charity or government funding it is your money, insurance, you put in all the years you worked! And they take it out of everyone’s paychecks in the US. And they make it awfully hard to get back too they investigate like you are stealing from the government, hah! They should have been so careful with those banks, big business and Wall Street and then maybe things would have been different now.)
So again I am up a creek without a paddle, since that would be a weekly or bi-monthly expense just too far out of reach for us commoners without insurance.

I am screwed. The pain seems to come much more frequently, and I am medicated with all those three prescriptions, which are not for pain by the way, and fortunately are all generic so only $36 dollars a month.

Silly note: Charlotte County Florida: Our Town Center Mall right here in River City better known as Port Charlotte Florida had a streaker Saturday night at our one and only enclosed mall, yippee some excitement! And it even made it to the net; great for tourism just what this little berg needed to create a frenzy, good for you Brandon!
It is only a misdemeanor crime anyway.
And a good laugh in these unflappable not so funny times!

We also had our spring training Tampa Rays play their first game today, wow we got a lot of good stuff going on, and yes they did win.

On that somewhat happy note I bid you good night to all and to all count those blessings and I will too.

Speaking My Mind: Interesting familiar diagnosis for one and horrifi...

Speaking My Mind: Interesting familiar diagnosis for one and horrifi... :   But these are MINE! Not Hubby's! What he has is not contagio...
