Up and down sort of day!

The day started out rather annoying since an old friend of mine from my writing group wrote on my Facebook account, actually probably hers and it was copied to mine, a quote from an author I found to be racist, and on all weekends this one, of Martin Luther King’s birthday!
So I basically tore into her thinking perhaps she wasn’t aware of the author’s horrible use of the ‘N’ word in her writings, which I found extremely offensive, and I am not even an African American, but as a human being on this planet!
It is true that the author was of another generation who wrote back in the 1920’s when people used horrendous terminologies when describing people of all different races.
And no one ever heard of the term politically correct then.
But I did try and read her stories since people had said how wonderful an author she was.
I even ordered her books from our local library, and they had trouble finding some titles that I was told I should read, but all in all after several weeks they had, and I did read some but found my self cringing at the use of such language, and so I returned the books and told them why.
So that’s why I could not believe that someone who was so smart, a previous member of Mensa, would not know that about this author.
But she insisted that the woman author was not a racist and she only found one instance for the ‘N’ word being used, well once is too much in my opinion, right?
Any-who we went back and forth in emails most of the morning and I think by now we are no longer friends, oh well, me and my big mouth and firm convictions!
Who wants to be friends with a person who doesn’t understand what racism is.

The day actually got better after that aggravating morning for we had been invited to our neighbors across the canal for dinner, delicious meal, great company, and we had a marvelous time!
And that is why I am so late writing tonight because we just got home.
So I will be cutting this short because I am blissfully tired.

Good night to all and to all count those blessings and we will too!

Tired but the good kind of tired

Tonight we had our more scaled down version of a dinner party only two guests, but this is one of those times that quality over quantity counted, and it was definitely the case for this evening.

Good food and pleasant conversation what more could any nearly seniors want or desire.
And tonight we enjoyed both.

The day started with my mad rush to try and clean our home within an inch of a nosey inspectors concern, but none were coming with any white gloves so I do wonder at times what possesses me to think that way.
I do hope I came close in passing that test metaphorically speaking that is; it does seem that the only motivation to try for that type of clean is when we know that we are having company.
It is a good reason to get things in ship shape anyway.

My hubby is still hard at work cleaning the grill from his slow cooking of those great babyback ribs that he made.
As you must have guessed our guests have gone.

And to tell the truth I am pooped too.

So tonight will be just this short little Blob of a Blog.

Good night to all and to all count your blessings and I will too.
