Lionel Ritchie wasn't here, only wish he was... but my little guy was!

Chance our Bichon Frise is afraid of thunder and lightning, as Aussie once was, but with the last few years of reassurance, he has tamed that concern enormously! In fact, he appeared to be supporting his little brother, since Chance was up all night pacing and fidgeting, his anguish was palatable. And so mommy, me and Aussie, stayed up all night with him cuddling and reassuring him. Not unlike the two-legged type of children under the same circumstances!
I got a few hours sleep before the storm came in, and I tried again this morning, but when I went back to try again at 4:00 A.M. I kept looking at the clock, and at five A.M. I gave up!
The weather report was for rain on and off all day long too! During the night we had over two inches of accumulation!
But wouldn't you just know it, it seems to have stopped again after I had showered, so no pool again today!
Usually, the water temperature drops significantly when we get really good dosing of rain anyway! So too cold to go in!
The expression, "be careful with what you wish for", comes to mind...!
June 1st in Florida usually marks the beginning of the rainy season, but so far, halfway through the month, we are unusually down several inches from our usual rainfall!
Not unlike most of the rest of the country that is in a devasting drought at this juncture. Although, we are set to have a normal rainy season but an above-average hurricane season.
So the rain will be here and very likely too much! If only we could share.
Moving on...
Hubby did obtain the two clear hurricane panels for the front window yesterday at Lowe's in their North Port Florida store. About ten miles from here, while our store is only three and a half miles from our home, but theirs were all gone. So it was worth the trip without me.
I cannot go that far without pain for days.
Any-who, mission accomplished.
Hubby even picked up some wood putty for whenever I find the ability to paint all that furniture that needs it so very badly. The putty is great for all those old-fashioned designs etched into the wood. You fill them with the putty, let them dry, then sand over them, and then you are all set to paint. It also works great too for changing out handle hardware if you are switching where the holes will be! It works for stain too if you get the stainable putty!
Someday...!
Meanwhile, I think the medicine cabinet mirror is looking good now that the paint has been removed from it in Hubby's bathroom. It was a small group effort, of just Hubby and me!
And so we must go, for now ...
I am called Aussie because my Mom asked a sixteen-year-old girl, who had been looking at me, in the crate at the adoption site, that day, what she thought I should be named. And without hesitation, the teenager had said, Aussie! She was just looking, by the way,... so Mom did not steal me from her.
We never did find out the girl's name, and Mom liked the name Aussie too. We have since found out that it is a very common name, but it is still just right for me! My parents think that I am uncommon though,... some might say even unique! I do like that.
I am an Australian Shepherd. Here is an interesting factoid about me, I was supposed to be a miniature Australian Shepherd, but... as you might know, I AM NOT! Although I am now three years old, so I am the baby, though I tip the scales at around seventy pounds, HA! I must admit, a very big one!
I was three months old when Mommy and Daddy adopted me. I had been taken out of a hoarder's home in the Carolinas with my litter. Below is my new PIC that had been taken on the birthday that I share with my Dad, but Dad is much, much older than me!!! I was the first to be adopted, February 16, 2018, his brother's birthday.
Please don't forget me, I am Chance, pictured above, a Bichon Frise! I am six years old, so they think, and the eldest, and I like getting up early with Mom and Aussie. Bella sleeps in with Dad, till after seven most days, even later! I enjoy a good tug-of-war on the ropes that Dad had twisted for Aussie and me, and sometimes even Bella plays too! I was the last to be adopted, on January 23, 2020.
I was wandering the neighborhood for days and then saw Aussie and Bella in their living room window, so I hung out there... The Animal Welfare League checked me out and kept me for sixteen days until I was allowed to be adopted. Good evening?
The animal control lady was called and came out to see if I had a chip I.D. with her machine, and Dad told her that he wanted to name me Chance. His reason being, that if no one claimed me, I want to give him a second chance! So that is how I got the name Chance!
Easy as Aussie, Bella, Chance, now you got it!
