Calm relaxing day of staying home.

Except from our very high energy pup, our mini Australian Shepard Aussie.
Interesting factoid his locale of birth is a misnomer, actually the larger of his breed are from Australia, but his miniature sized breed was created in California from smaller/runts from the standard sized breed way back in the 1960s.
The largest of the Australian Shepard are around sixty pounds, while the miniatures are half that or less, twenty-five or thirty pounds that is what Aussie should be, right now at about four and a half months old he is sixteen pounds. I understand that toy and teacups have also been bred, too many specialty pups.
Aussie is a rescue from a hoarder we were told, not too much else, except he was part of a litter and his brother was also at the adoption days, a three day event, at the tent in the Pet Smart parking lot on 2/16/18 when we adopted him. His brother was adopted already when we got there, apparently the people saw his brother online and chose him then. Their crates were next to one another, his brother's was marked adopted. Most people there left immediately with dogs of all ages, not too many pups. It was gratifying to see so many find homes so fast. The non-profit is called http://www.forever-pets.org/

Moving on... somewhat...

Since I am not as mobile as I once was and when Hubby goes out for some reason or another without us, Aussie and me I entertain him by closing the doors down our hallway and throw the tennis ball and he loves that game and retrieves it several times and then gets tired and falls asleep to my delight!
He has so many toys from his predecessors two monkeys one large one small, a bunny, a frog, a raccoon, Nyla bones small hard white ones, softer ones can break off pieces and can be just as dangerous as those rawhide bones that our Yorkie Benji almost died from choking on a very large piece we ended up in emergency years ago, he did survive after I did the Heimlich on him, Benji lived from 1984-1998, he was a seven pound Yorkie, his female counterpart Brandi, lived from 1988-2004 was only three pounds, and he had the personality and intelligence of the Benji of movie fame, a great dog!

Any-who, like all baby toys, even human ones some get recalled and passing them on sometime is not such a great idea. Aussie in his teething seems to have a thing for fabric tags on the soft toys and has chewed off a few and even unfortunately swallowed some that he wouldn't give to me. Things that we never thought of with our other four legged children. Also one of the largest Nyla bones he was chewing apart pieces so that is now gone too!
He is like most babies and has to be watched all of the time, same with out in public. At the nice pavilion at the Beach Complex there was a fish oil pill on the ground, not to mention so many cigarette butts that are toxic to all children, and adults too! Thankfully neither of us smoke anymore, me twelve years, Hubby about eighteen months!
At Fishville we also found a pill lying on the ground on the walkway, in one of those hard to get out of hard plastic and aluminum packages, but milk teeth pups and toddlers somehow are able to, dangerous stuff! We brought the package to the dock-master, and he shook his head and tossed it, I guess what else can you do?
Always keeping you on your toes!

Whew! I wonder ... having a puppy after fourteen years is like going through labor again, how soon we forget! But don't get me wrong absolutely worth the end result!
Happy healthy babies!

And happy good nights to all!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
