“The alternative
"Happy Christmas" gained wide usage in the late 19th century, and
is still common in the United Kingdom
and Ireland.
One reason may be the alternative meaning, still current there, of
"merry" as "tipsy" or "drunk". Queen Elizabeth
II is said to prefer "Happy Christmas" for this reason[3]. In
American poet Clement Moore's "A Visit from St. Nicholas" (1823),
the final line, originally written as "Happy Christmas to all, and to
all a good night", has been changed in many editions to "Merry Christmas to all", perhaps indicating the
relative popularity of the phrases in the United States.”

Is it only me or you too that
wondered why some say Happy Christmas or Merry Christmas? Now we all know, hmm?
Between opening presents and
eating all that food and watching all those football games I bet you are all
tuckered out?
No?
Well. I am just thinking
about what most have been through…
Ours was just Hubby and me,
since we have no grands and our sons had other plans and my rest of my immediate family is dead, and
Hubby’s is far, far away…so although quiet, not fraught without stress or the
loneliness. All our neighbors had family and or pets or both visiting today, and yes it is
hard and I do try to keep my green eyed monster at bay…but it’s difficult.
STOP IT!
We had no additional expense,
since our only son that speaks to us and is loving to us did not request
anything and was away on a cruise with his gal pal and they did not want
anything sent to the house…and we will not be seeing him until next year! Sounds silly when I say it that way, hmm?
My heart breaks though with sadly still missing the
old days with twenty-plus strong and all the alive and lively family and the
occasional friends…visiting on the holidays…People need people!
“People,
People who need people,
Are the luckiest people in the world
We're children, needing other children
And yet letting a grown-up pride
Hide all the need inside
Acting more like children than children
Lovers are very special people
They're the luckiest people in the world
With one person one very special person
A feeling deep in your soul
Says you were half now you're whole
No more hunger and thirst
But first be a person who needs people
People who need people
Are the luckiest people in the world
With one person one very special person
Says you were half now you're whole
No more hunger and thirst
But first be a person who needs people
People who need people
Are the luckiest people in the world
With one person one very special person
No more hunger and thirst
But first be a person who needs people
People who need people
Are the luckiest people in the world”
But first be a person who needs people
People who need people
Are the luckiest people in the world”

So count those blessings and never ever discount them for they are
so important to you and all the ones you love and care about…like that, (I
snapped my fingers again) they could be gone for so many different reasons one
never can name all…so realize those annoying family and even some friends of that way too who are
of your choosing, not family but friends, as we all know we cannot choose our
family, but they are ours just the same… so forgive them for their quirkiness
and odd behavior and they might forgive yours too…
Oh I don’t know, all I know is that I long for the old days when we
were one of those plentiful with extended family and friends all around for every occasion and
then none…and that quiet too is deafening…!
That song is so right…some do
not feel that need, but I do.
I suppose a lot of men don’t,
at least it seems that way to me at times.
Oh I don’t know what I have
learned at this point in my life except that life is too short so you should
think before you talk and love as many family and friends as your arms can hug
in a life time and die without any regrets, like my dad did, he said, and us too hopefully!
And happiness is where you
make it and so that is what I will be doing, make it wherever we can...
My two all time favorite songs above that make you feel totally different when you need to have that feeling realized.
That’s all.
Oh and I hope that all of you
had a very HAPPY CHRISTMAS! Or MERRY if you prefer, but go easy on that MERRY!
