Lowe's, Cubby's, veterinarian and Publix...what do they all have in common?

A wrought iron and wood chair, a front door, and a fish pond all benefited from our Lowe’s visit today.
The front door and chair were in need of painting and so paint was purchased and as soon as it is completed I think you may be pleasantly surprised or concerned with, what was she thinking! I’m not telling what’s up, you will have to wait!
The fish pond has been in need of flora to protect its fish occupants for quite sometime, since the local herons think it is in their personal feeding turf. We used to have more than a dozen large fish and many small ones; those being mosquito eaters and we now have six very large ones. (PS all the large ones are goldfish, @ about two dollars a dozen, that grew to about two feet long, yep, they do that!) And so for the last several months we have had to keep a netting over the pond which although solved the heron problem it was not at all attractive. Today we were able to attain the water lilies that we used to have, but the new ones are nearly twice the price, but online they were twice what we paid for the ones that we purchased today!

Any-who, once they grow into the beautiful pink, yellow and white varieties we chose they will give some protection to our fishy friends and perhaps allow the netting to be removed once again. It serves its purpose, but is not pretty at all.

For the last few months the state of Florida has been having beautiful weather and therefore more insects thinking it was their time to come out.
And that includes all the ones that annoy dogs, like fleas.
Skipper has been fortunate since we always have given him his monthly heartworm medication and also his topical flea protection which we would apply monthly too.
But the box of this particular brand, Advantage 11 had not been working and we by this past week had already used three doses with no help for dear sweet Skipper and he has had to have more baths and even we had to spray him with Adams another flea medication.
Today I called the vet and told her about what has been happening and we never had this problem here before or with Skipper. And to be honest we have used Advantage for the last few years and it worked just fine.
I told her that I would be calling the company to let them know what had happened and see if perhaps it was a bad lot or something.
The man I spoke with kept asking how we used the product and where our dog had been, blah, blah, blah… he was annoying me and Hubby for it appeared that he was not willing to see that we knew how to use the product but that in his mind we did not.
At first all I wanted for him to tell us if any other people had a problem with this lot number and I gave it to him, but he refused to check.
He said that he had been there for three years and that they never had any problems before and again he intimated that we must have used the product wrong, huh?
In the end he gave me a reference number to get a full refund and I said great I will take it.
And so I called back my vet and their office said that the doctor would give us another brand that was brand new and for just fleas and is consumed in a chewable tablet, Comfortis, and a six month supply and so we would only have to pay the difference and that is why we had the vet visit, way down in the other direction.

On our way to the vet’s was a deli that we had not been to before. But we passed it often when we went that way and its sign for Cuban sandwiches caught Hubby’s eye.
And we felt that someday we would stop there and try it and today was the day! Cubby’s, it appears that they have been in this location on the corner of route 41 south and W. Marion Avenue in Punta Gorda for nearly eight years, since Hurricane Charley apparently destroyed their Bayshore location. And in actuality they are known for their homemade ice cream which we both vowed to try next time we were in their neck of the woods. The steady flow of customers indicated to us that they have a nice client base and reputation. The Cuban sandwiches we had were tasty too, pricing is typical and the variety of offerings appears comfortable, and you can eat in or take out.

Our last stop was to Publix, again!
We should have stock in that place heaven knows we are there enough.
But we needed more fat free milk that we both drink and the sugar free Carnation instant breakfast that I do share on occasion with Hubby, who appears to be hooked on.
And last but not least more Clorox 2, I prefer without scent, due to allergies but they didn’t have it and we settled on Lavender that I know is supposed to have a calming effect.
Who doesn’t need that?
And then we came home, sweet home…!
We had my homemade soup and a salad with our own vine ripened tomatoes for our dinner tonight.
With those major lunches out we have been doing that or breakfasts for dinner many nights.
It is good to change things up sometimes, hmm?

To many this was just another mundane sort of day, but to me it was fruitful with accomplishments, and that ain’t bad in any culture, eh?

On that notice of knowing that we all have our idea of what is what in importance and excitement, well not those but you get my drift… right? Allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
