News can be unnerving and devastating... and yet don't we all crave to know?

The human animal is curious by nature; and so to want something as important as information is part of our genetic makeup, or our DNA.

With that said, our emotions seem to play, at times, unruly in the everlasting desire to know.
As with the horrendous outcome of the Powell case in Washington state.

The missing mother was unaccounted for since December of 2009 and her husband was saying that she was gone when he returned home with their two young sons after a mid-night camping trip in the snowy mountains with them, hmm, red flag in my book?
Sadly one of the young boys allegedly said that Mommy was in the trunk when they went there, when investigators talked to the young child, but he continued with saying that she did not come back with them… And all ended today, culminating in the horrible an explosion of the father’s home with them all in it this morning! He did take the time to email his attorney and a few other family members with, “I’m sorry, goodbye!” Not an exact quote but you get the gist, how truly so bad and sad, and sure we all were wondering about the family, but hoping for a happy ending, not this!

A wee bit less impact-full nationally but just as devastating to animal lovers here locally. Lee County, to our south, has had an outbreak of canine Parvo Virus an easily preventable but highly contagious deadly disease spread from dog to dog who is not protected. It appears that those dog parks that we were so thrilled to have, some of the visitors are not as careful about preventative care as they should be prior to attending such thrown together all types of loving pets. The problem has seemed to occur due to the downturn in the economy and many people think that they cannot afford the shots for care, but in reality any vet will tell them they are quite affordable at only ten to fifteen dollars a piece and last for a couple of years for the Parvo one that if not given can die unnecessarily and the loving canine pet should get it to save their life it could cost nearly one thousand dollars to treat it after and does not guarantee survival, and so it is a definite no brainer! Just do it!

This entire hullabaloo, made me take that extra step to check with our vet for Skipper’s shots’ record, he goes each July and gets whatever our vet knows he needs since he was a pup and the office said he had his last Parvo shot July of 2011 and he is good for three years! Whew, peace of mind, and it is priceless, ya know?

It apparently has killed many dogs in Lee County; so far here in Charlotte County we haven’t had any problems. This is more often a summer concern, but with the very warm temperatures, even higher here for us, about ten degrees higher than our usual they feel that is why we are experiencing it now.

Sometimes the news gives us all wake-up calls that are necessary to take inventory of our daily lifestyle behaviors, and for that I am grateful to our local news stations of NBC-2, WINK and our ABC affiliate, partnered with NBC, since both are owned by the same company: Waterman Broadcasting...

On that little bit of local trivia, newsworthy, I hope, allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you all kindly to count your blessings and share those overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
