Homework

We are done with school; but not with learning.
I believe a few years ago I was told in this state of these United States, in our home state of Florida that when you turn sixty-five, if you so desire, you may take classes for free at any place here of higher learning, such as a college or university.Perhaps in a few more years if able maybe I will consider taking a class or two...hmm?
And that you are entitled to fish or hunt without a license but around the same time they worry about you driving a vehicle, ironic, hmm?
Not really a very bad idea actually, but it is also said that some senior organizations have defensive driving courses to take for anyone who needs or wants them, but oddly enough THEY CHARGE!

Today, Hubby went out to the garage and found our food processor which he had cleaned thoroughly and bagged each piece and boxed it years ago. You see this is one of the smallest places we have ever lived. And so, I felt that we had no room for something so large in any of our kitchen space and it has too many functioning pieces to sit on our counter. But today after many years we decided to bring it in again and after I was sure it was very clean by soaking it for quite some time in hot bleach water and after we dried it off and put the old workhorse to do a once familiar task… slicing apples and making dough for an ‘Apple Pie’! We made a space for it, the food processor, when we are all done on our above the door shelf in our laundry/mud room inside, and now more accessible for Hubby that is; too high up for me to reach.
I used to make them all of the time when the boys were still home, pies that is, and many different kinds. It amazes me how thin I always was then and did that at a drop of a hat, especially while still living in good ole NJ.

We had wild blueberry bushes growing all over the place and I would send the boys out to gather them and we used them in pies and waffles and pancakes and just plain ate them!
In those days, we had no idea how healthful they were; we just liked them for being blueberries, boy how I miss them and have considered getting some for here! They do sell the bushes online, but I’m not sure that our climate is right for them.

Ah memories… on the other coast we had had a restaurant but we made food for sale and sold Mom’s Cheesecake and that was a brand name not our Mom’s.
Making pies are lotsa fun when you have no time constraints or consistency being an absolute necessity, when made for just family or friends; thus my reasoning for not making them then for our restaurant.

With our food processor it also made it easier to make our own pizza dough, and even here when I have grown our tomatoes I have turned them into freezed dried and used them on our own pizzas, too bad we still don’t make our own cheese, but there is nothing more rewarding than putting your own pizza together and knowing that it is more healthy than ordered out or store bought!
Creativity always comes into play somehow when you make your own anything, have you noticed that?
That’s why being DIYers has become so smart in so many ways in these hard times; since its cost effective and an uplifting experience seeing tangible evidence of your true abilities, which can surprise or confound you!
But the name of the game is to have fun, why you so boldly ask?
Because it’s for you and your loved ones or at least the ones who you care about and care about you, and so mistakes are OK, since forgiving is what those people are known for… hmm?

On that note of don’t worry, be happy, allow me to be the first to wish you a very happy good night and to ask you to kindly count all your blessings and to share all your overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Speaking My Mind: How are we doing? :   Life is hard. How redundant can one be?  And we all have our reasons for that statement, but we tend...
