All we Americans can hope is for this to be just the beginning of the light at the end of the tunnel, and all those other positive clichés.
Hope is still something we want to be tangible to all who are suffering, financially, loss of jobs, and even homes still in the foreclosure process, now perhaps those things will change for the better.
The world will respond as they have been daily, and then we will see how they are doing too. We are truly a world economy, and what affects us has an enormous power on the rest of Global Market.
Saying that we are all in the same boat is an understatement, but a family just trying to make ends meet to afford groceries or gas or to try and look for a job to be able to find a place to live other than a shelter or their vehicle; it is hard to imagine anyone else having any difficulties when yours seem so insurmountable.
Unfortunately, these snapshots of circumstances are way too common all over the country, and all over the world. The Grapes of Wrath comes to mind; that is not too far fetched. We have people actually living under bridges right here in our county. And I am sure that is not that too uncommon where you may be living. My heart goes out to these people that aren’t necessarily at fault for their circumstances in these hard times.
As a community we have been stretched to our extremes for volunteers, and monies, as well as food available in kitchens that usually provide meals for the needy. The numbers are just so overwhelming, and the people who used to help are now either needing help now themselves or struggling to keep their heads above water too.
While watching TV I did hear of some sites to help us all for good deals while helping others or the earth: redo.org, which is for recycled materials for building and earth911.org, for paint electronics etc. The reason they help others is the monies from the sales goes to organizations like Habit for Humanity, Salvation Army Thrift stores, and the Red Cross of course.
Things are tight but we can pitch in even just a little, and when we do help it makes us feel better too.
Good night to all and to all feel better.
Speaking My Mind is about: Tobi, who is a middle aged, no, oh all right a slightly over the hill woman with all the imperfections that go with that, and this concerns her daily life's perceptions and experiences.
