Positive, negative... drum roll please NEGATIVE!!! for COVID!!!
Dear friends and relatives, I had all three tests in the hospital due to being there for emergency surgery for my baclofen pump having an internal kink in the catheter, they had put me in the COVID ICU since their first test was positive before my surgery! After they did that second too and it was negative and since it was a tie I asked fortunately for the third not rapid to have control. And it was a good thing since the doctors for all my follow-ups required two negatives after a positive to be able to even make my told by the hospital follow-up appointments... Please understand I did not initiate any of the two rapids the hospital did, I did ask for the third and now I can see my pulmonologist, and nephrologist if necessary, pulmonologist was on my list of four to call and make those appointments! I had had an allergic reaction to a medication and that is why they kept me overnight in the COVID ICU, first negative they sent me home and I received the second today online at their site!!!
The crazy thing is I never left the house since March, Hubby did all the outside of the house stuff. And he would practically strip down in the garage and clean up and came into the laundry room to dump his stuff in the machine.
He right away was sure it was wrong, but I was a scaredy-cat! But he was not in the hospital he was NOT allowed in, or in the COVID ICU and my phone was locked away from me. Pretty horrible when you're sick but not sick enough to not care and know what's going on... I found out later. Although, I did talk them into getting to talk to Hubby in the middle of the night and he said he spoke with the CDC hotline and that the rapid tests were only 35%-80%accurate.
Also to add into the mix I had an allergic reaction to another medication and was hallucinating badly! I hope they tell me which med did that so I can put it on my too-long list of allergic reactions and yes hallucinations are that! And they also by mistake gave me steroids that the last time I had them I nearly ended up on dialysis in the 30 GFE range, above 60 GFE is more normal and with positive diabetes, glucose at home 400... that was the last time I would ever be on 1000 mg. of Solu-Medrol, and it was. I had come to the same hospital to be put on IV insulin, fortunately my glucose by then dropped to less than 300. Without steroids, my kidneys are normal and my glucose is like in the 80s normal too. I guess not too much because my blood work said my non-diabetic me had 141 glucose! I do believe the IV saline they gave me flushed it all out eventually. They gave me a lot! I would have thought they had that in my records???
Much later...
Thank goodness the other tests proved Hubby was RIGHT!
Had to be a false positive and apparently, it was.
I had made two follow-up doctors' appointments yesterday as my discharge papers from Thursday told me to do before I knew the requirements.
Both on my list the neurosurgeon who knew what was going on since he was there basically as it all unfolded, and my internist who initiated the third test for me, thanks doc through an emissary!
Next was my asthma CPAP doc and he is the one who said his requirements were once a positive you had to have two negatives and he would wait to hear my results.
Same with the kidney doctor two negatives after a positive, so now I suppose I have to get some sort of documentation??? I will call the hospital Monday and find out.
I copied and pasted what I had written on my Facebook page on the top of this one... tired, in bed again.
Oh, there's a minute positive to all this and I mean really tiny, yeah positive is a horrible word these days but... besides the BIG one of being NEGATIVE result wise for COVID is I lost two whole pounds!!! Gals now that makes it worthwhile, hmmm??? KIDDING of course!
You know in life it gets harder daily to find any humor, but I swear, uh oh not nice, I will try harder to find it somewhere, anywhere???
Here's a secret, do not tell anyone but when I was a young teen I had aspirations to be a comedy writer for of all people, gosh, I forget her name she made fun of herself like many self-deprecating women comics did/do oh yeah Phyllis Diller! I would write I really did!!! For her, but she never saw it ever... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phyllis_Diller for all your kids to learn.
I will try harder to find the funny, otherwise, we will all go on that short trip to CRAZY together, because we all know that we are alone way too much!!!
Moving on again to...
