After leaving good morning's via texts to Number One Son and old since an eighth-grade friend. That I do nearly daily. Old friend answers fairly quickly and Number One Son used to too, but lately, there is a glitch on his side we think so we talk via phones. How novel you might say? Or not. It has been very nice to do though.
Yesterday, I received the social security statement telling you will be getting our occasional yearly increase of a mere 1.6% COLA hubby's social security check went up while mine went the other direction!
The issue was my medication coverage went up nearly three times up from what it was last year!
So after reading that I did my list of to whom I should call, first my insurance agent and he said it was, social security and they said it was Humana who I have my medications with and apparently think they could handle my monies for medication, and so I objected!
The date to make changes has ended!
But I did not receive this new information until yesterday!
Humana insisted they sent me the info in Septemeber, and yet Hubby and I agreed we did not receive that information!
So what gives, not much only my unhappiness with this latest financial expense for something I do not need! Most meds are generic and cheap the only one with a high co-pay is my Breo Ellipta that can be from two hundred plus to 400 plus to over a thousand dollars for its co-pays and I have a nonprofit that I had qualified for assistance years ago PAN that catches my co-pays by grants from the companies and others to help with their high co-pays, so I asked why did they believe I needed that? Not counting my supplemental that also went up for next year! ( but to be fair the supplemental only went up five dollars, bringing that one to just under $200 a month! )
All I could do is file a complaint and get a reference number it should take thirty days for a decision. But not much they can do? They had three levels of additional payments, one higher than mine and one lower is how it was explained to me and so they gave me the one in the middle! I explained not much expensive medication is working for me because of my Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis.
Thus my need to decide which to increase my cannabis oil or Gabapentin and Baclofen, mind you, I had just decreased those two a couple of weeks ago down from 1500 mg. to 1200 mg. in the Gabapentin and down from 80 mg. to 60 mg. in the Baclofen!
And they are both covered by insurance with only an eight dollar co-pay for a 90 day supply while cannabis oil is not covered by anything and is costing $150 a month!
The medications have known side-effects while the cannabis oil is unclear on its side-effects, thus my dilemma? The pain is significant.and shows no relief only getting worse and more often.
If this were you what would you do?
Sorry for the Debbie Downer blog... I have been trying to stay away from too much me, forgive. All that we do are for helpful distractions.
