Will somebody please tell me why when there is a mandatory evacuation to save your life, why don't you go? Emergency personnel have so much to do why make them have to work even harder, with saving you?
We had our first last year, i.e. mandatory evacuation, with Hurricane Irma in all the years, thirty-two that we have been living in Florida it was our first, and we always lived near or on the water!
And we left with me and my wheelchair and our Gus, our Havanese mix rescue dog that has since passed away, thus why we have Aussie and Bella, it had been way too quiet...but I/we are still in need of special accommodations and if we had another mandatory evacuation Hubby might not be as willing to go.
In reality last time he wasn't either, but I was scared, and practically had to beg him to go.
The problem, and I say it facetiously, is that our home did not succumb to the fifteen foot storm surge that was predicted/expected, and for that we are both very grateful! So consequently damage was slight, although replacing the roof I suppose is not that slight.
Any-who, and our brand new boat purchased in May that Hubby was turning the bunks for on the lift that weren't done on time, was also not damaged even when he ended up having to tie it up in the middle of our canal!
So in Hubby's mind we should not have left, since nothing BAD happened.
Which makes the next time iffy, but no two storms are the same and so I would rather err on the side of safety and caution and listening to the Emergency Management Personnel who had robo called us at 8 A.M. on September 9th a year ago, 2017, and also the weather people that we are not.
Although, Hubby has an extensive background in emergency management going back to the 198O's in NJ as a Fire Chief and as a Deputy here in Florida too.
But alas he has been retired for twelve years as of next month, and things change.
So in my mind we must heed the warnings.
In my tiny brain I think we should get the heck out of DODGE!
Just drive away with my wheelchair and our loving furry kids away far, far away from the natural disaster and just keep going till we are all safe!
These last several hurricanes Florida for a change got lucky, and so far we have not had any major storms hit us this year, but the "hurricane season", is not over until November thirtieth!
So I will be ready if we must go, and bid a fond smart goodbye to all "things" and just save our lives, without second thoughts/guessing that logic, and please folks all do the same!
Save yourselves and your living creatures!
Happy good night all!
Count those blessings and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
