Happy Valentine's Day to all who celebrate

For us it was a lunch of steak and lobster tails at Outback Steakhouse to celebrate our anniversary too.
Number forty-seven for us, how fast they go by.
Half of my steak, Caesar salad and most of my baked potato came home, as well as half a loaf of their bread, and a quarter of Hubby's steak.
We made cheesesteak sandwiches for supper, using the half of pumpernickel roll from them and one left of our sub rolls.

We got home just in time for General Hospital, at three it was over and I turned the TV off.

Then...

I read on my Yahoo welcome screen about another high school shooting though this one was right across our state from us in Broward County, Parkland Florida, seventeen are dead, and as many hospitalized!
The information is still coming in.
Will it ever stop????????????????????????????????

I had turned on the TV after four thinking that they would not be carrying the story till then, but to my surprise and concern all the channels were carrying it! Even Lester Holt from the Olympics in South Korea was running the story from there.
This was a horrific story!

Hours now have gone by, the killer/shooter has been identified and caught and is custody now, a nineteen year old former student.

One reporter from our coast with NBC news is there now, she is a graduate of that high school, Risa Morris.

Oddly/ironically enough I was looking up safest cities in Florida to live just yesterday, and Parkland was listed as number one! Where we live was number fourteen of the fifty listed.
How incredibly things change in just one day.

So very, very sad.

Bad afternoon.

Stomach, headache, shoulders and hands issues.
So I will be making this perhaps even shorter than last night's.
On the plus side the laundry is caught up!
Meals had been made, taking turns, dinner will be leftovers, so easy.
Just one of those days, I suppose.

Oh well, wasn't going to be too specific, but you know me so here it is anyway:

Stomach: painful and very gassy and noisy, even after OTC proper medications, even Gas-X, Pepcid and Nexium, taken prescribed by gastroenterologist and internist. Nothing is working!

Headache: sore as if bruised in two locations on back of head, caffeine did not take anymore, already had two and half cups of coffee, due to above I stopped.

Shoulders: hurt to raise and have used heat on them today, but still hurt.

Hands: hurt/painful to move them and feel numb as if swollen and they are very slightly.

Mess!
Not flu symptoms, no temperature.
Feels silly to call the doctor yet.

Those symptoms to me seem so unrelated.

So here I lie again in bed.
The angle for my tummy helps more so here.
Nothing helps my shoulders or hands, doing this... definitely not!

Head seems to hurt when I lean back.
Oh well...

My tummy concerto is distracting.

TTYT, okay?

Boating last night was just spectacular!

Allegiant Airlines Sunseeker Resort is planned to open December 2019 right here on Charlotte Harbor!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpLXG5yokL0 Youtube has a complete fly over rendition of the resort to be built if interested tap on the hot key I left for you! Below you can see the reddish crane and the turquoise port-o-pot showing the beginnings of the twenty-two acre resort right up to alongside of the forty-one Tamiami Trail bridge!
More of the coast line for the project. I was wrong that it was two miles from our home, it is actually nearly three miles away, ha! Close enough, could be good deal bad deal thingy, ya know?
If you click on the below pic to enlarge and you will see that our main canal had a pod of dolphin fishing in it and that we saw as we went out for our evening cruise thus the spectacular part of the voyage, and of course the pastel sky too! I love seeing all of it, it never gets old.
Short but sweet ride.
Happy good night all.

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

The local NBC affiliate had an item on why dogs bite the other night

And so I perked up my own ears, ha!
I sort of wondered, since I have been bitten many times since the age of five.
What I heard is that the dogs can tell that you are afraid of them or that they are afraid of you?
Either way my incidences of my trials and tribulations of being the bitten victim wise does not jive with their specialist in whatever field that might have determined their reasoning for such happenings with our pets.
At five, I had bent down to an adorable looking Chihuahua out on the lawn and said as I reached out to pet him what a cute little doggy! He growled and bit at the same time on my finger!
The second time I was twelve, and again it was not due to my fear, perhaps the dogs, since she was on my aunts bed and I said high Count, the Cocker Spaniel's name and again, bitten on my hand!

Third and most major biting was our own Andrew, a collie mix rescue as an eight week old pup from Hurricane Andrew, he was at the time a fully grown adult dog of about seven years old lying behind my rolling computer chair and I accidentally rolled over his tail, my bad, especially since after hearing his loud yelped I bent down to him and said something to the effect, "are you okay sorry", and forty-two stitches later I regret that all these years later still.
He stayed with us for his last couple of years after that until he passed away from of all things liver cancer.

Jump forward fifteen years to 2014, December 27, and the adoption of little Gus/Gaston, a rescue Havanese mix, the first time he bit me he was curled up sleeping at the end of our bed and I bent over to kiss him on the white star on his farhead, he had looked so adorable there, and he awoke to biting my lip, the same one that Andrew had decimated all those years before. This time I had Hubby get the crate out of the car and put him into it in the house, since we again were going to the hospital!

Although, Hubby was one hundred miles away, in Tampa, at a Hurricane Conference for work, when Andrew got me all those years ago and I needed all those stitches and a  plastic surgeon then, so I drove myself, and waited in emergency for five hours by myself, on a Sunday, while the doctor I was waiting for was finishing his barbecue party.
He is a local government official too these days.
And no I did not vote for him, my opposing party.
That doctor had the nerve to play politics with me when he arrived knowing that I was a smoker he told me he would not stitch me up unless I promised him then and there that I would quit smoking right then!
I did not take his threat, and did not lie either so I told him I could not promise that, and of course he did stitch me up with forty-two tiny stitches.
As I said I am nothing if not honest.
This was about seven years before I actually did quit for my other own reasons.
Too upset to quit then.

Gus bit me twice after that first time was once when I was tickling his belly he got my wrist, and another time I was petting him he got my hand!
Must have meant the dog was afraid?
We had him for a year by then though, and never ever did do anything to scare or harm him. Hubby had been bit too.

I wonder if that specialist in animal behavior ever had a dog?
We have had many more over the years that never ever did bite me, with nearly fifty years of marriage and all those years growing up before being married with having pets; you do the math. I am baffled at how they come to these ridiculous conclusions, really!

We must stop listening to all these specialists, some that have never been married or are divorced telling people how to have good relationships. Same with child rearing all the ones who never had any children. Watchers beware!

Or the news scares about medications that have most recently been found to do this or that, when you have been using them for years without any issues!
It is like the warnings on prescriptions for those one percent that have their hair fall out, or teeth or I have no idea what, but then you stop the stuff and die????????????????

The informative news, the real news, the political news, the fluff news and the human interest news and on and on and on can become white noise after a while, hmm?

Well, all I can suggest is that experience in life does seem to teach us somewhat that education is more than books and sometimes common sense should be the one to prevail in life, ya know what I mean?

So I guess I am just another annoyed consumer of TV news.
I suspect that having been jaded over the years with all the incorrect reporting or better said not quite accurate reporting, makes one turn them off, and that is our right. And someone please give a class on local geography when the newbies arrive from hither and yon, PLEASE!
Sadly, the loop of info continues, on too may slow news days, good though I suppose, but even when there are BIG news stories elsewhere we get minuscule blurbs, elaborate on those PLEASE!
You may be designated local, but we are a microcosm of international people in this state who really NEED TO KNOW!

We had been avid watchers/listeners for hours and hours a day, but I have now found myself cringing and speaking loudly at the TV screen with all the mistakes on air daily and switching the TV off!

I do understand that the business is based on the immediacy of getting the news out there to us, but GEEZ get some more fact checkers on staff PLEASE! Let's get real since we all know what happens when even the highest position held in the land speaks, TWEETS, before he knows what he is saying to be right or true or in his case logical, and decent...!
So many so-called know-it-alls on TV and other media venues have been proven to be WRONG!

Rant done...WHEW!
I feel better now.
That is all.
Most news is very interesting right or wrong, ha.
I suppose it is up to us consumers to check all the facts, exhausting work for free.

Happy good night to all!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

I am so sorry, but that thing that I was going to tell you about

I have to put on hold, forgive?

Any-way, today we did leave our mini manse for the outer world that is outside of our homestead and humble locale.
We oddly enough went north again to Englewood Florida on the Sarasota side once again for they had another smaller 16 th Annual Cracker Fair, meant for the cattle drivers cracking their whips in the air for gathering the cows, nothing nefarious there.

Although the thrill was gone when one stall, had too many Confederate flags, it made me wince, sorry to any who think that I am wrong. But to me it is a horrid example of hatred for black people and to me it seems that the ones who enjoy what those flags represent believe that slavery was right, so I cringe, shudder and moved on....and I am not even African American, imagine or we all do know how awful that makes anyone of the African American race feel, and we are in the month of Black History! Every day is Black History! Not very well thought out.

Think people if it were you; try to relate?
So I did not take any pictures, perhaps I should have?

We did eat lunch before seeing that atrocity at the fair; we ate at the Mango Bistro on Dearborn Street:http://mangobistro.com/site/
Our meal took a little longer getting to us, but they were just hit with an entire soccer team coming in for lunch at the same time, and the wait in the end was certainly was worth it!

We even sat outside, not because of any little four legged hairy ones with us, since we still are childless, and we no longer smoke for years, but it was just so darn beautiful outside today!

We both had iced water with lemons, and Hubby had a roast beef with portabella mushroom on marble rye sandwich, and I had half of a lobster wrap, instead of a roll, with red onion, tomato, and fresh spinach, and a half a cup of lobster bisque, mmmmmm! Half of mine came home and I just finished it for dinner.
Hubby is probably going to snack.

We rode around and noticed how nice everything there was kept in Englewood Florida the Sarasota side.
Our home is sixty years old this year, and some of those neighborhoods are too and similar in style as ours, but somehow they looked neater and more loved.

Hubby thinks they may have less of a transient neighborhood.
After all they escaped the last several hurricanes over the last couple of decades, while our area was either directly hit or harmed slightly in some unfortunate ways.

The only explanation we could come up with, and one does tend to wonder about such things.
You see, that after our home was destroyed by Hurricane Charley 8-13-04, a Friday, ten miles away in most any direction they were unscathed so until they actually got out and drove around they did not even know why so many of us were devastated. Most were in their own little world.

That is the truth about understanding others plights, opening up our eyes and putting ourselves in the other persons place!

Again just ramblings of a woman who has way too much time on her hands, ha!

Happy good night to all and to all share those blessings and we will too!

Next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

Holding our breaths

A project is possibly in the works.
That will either be a go or a no.
Anyone who has been in business understands that.
Still after all these years of making deals... not like our Twitter happy so-called Pres. but little ones that can change things now just for Hubby and I.
Sure I would love to say something, but as usual the jinx factor looms large in my soul, darn it!
Hush, and I will tell you all by tomorrow at the latest which way it went, okay?

Moving on...

Yep, those butterflies are playing havoc with my tummy.
I did ask our new doctor about my continuing stomach issues and he also feels that I should go back to the 20 mg. of Nexium twice a day, as my gastroenterologist told me to too. I blamed the news that said it was a killer medication, and I believed them.

Believe it or not his name is Luis Casanova, yes that same historic name.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giacomo_Casanova https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/Casanova
You would have thought that with the way women are telling the horrors of experiences with all those womanizers in all walks of life that his name would have concerned me when on my search for another internist.

But no, oddly enough he is both our doctors, and a geriatric internist and we double tag teamed him in the two times we have seen him, meaning with our one brain, we tease so we listen better, we are both there seeing him at the same time. Not worried at all! Our first time was getting to know each other and getting refills for certain meds, second was for the blood work results, so no hospital gowns or top to bottom exams, excuse the expression. We do have body part doctors for most everything else anyway.

Hubby and I so far feel he is a fine doctor who listens and informs very clearly.
He says he realizes that finding the right personalities that go well enough together is not that different with doctor and patient as with a marriage. Methinks he aced his bedside manner class!
And yet he is only about ten years younger than us, and shares the building that they own with his doctor wife, a pediatrician, see decent docs.
I hope so anyway.

That is all for tonight folks... but stay tuned!

Who knows what lurks in our thought to be ordinary lives, hmm?

Happy good night to all and to all share your blessings and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

Ya know how you do things emotionally...

without really putting much thought into them, and sometimes it works out and sometimes it turns out to be a big mistake...just food for thought, hmm?

Of course Hubby and I are on an emotional roller coaster ride too.

Between Gus's death and our mystical not quite clear cut lab work that has to be watched.
These things can make people do weird things without much thought.

Here's where I am going with this...
Puppy shopping all over the net, yup today, way too soon.

Fortunately, for the puppies sake and our own we had no luck due to the type of doggy (s), ages or prices.
I at one time during the day found out that I do qualify for a legitimate trained service dog. Only thing is that the one agency I contacted that even had hypoallergenic breeds, with my asthma and allergies that is what I would need, so they had standard poodles and Labradoodles, but their closest office is in Clearwater and they said they do not come to our area, over one hundred miles away.
See, not going to happen.
The shelters and rescues of course were high and first on my surveying lists, but this time I thought to look for puppies not older dogs with possible emotional issues.
Sounds cruel to some, but I do not think I want another biting, need to go under for grooming and shots pet again, sorry!

Never had one before this last four legged child, Gus.
Oh we did love him, but with me it was more when he loved me first, I was still wary of him, since he had bitten me three times!
Hubby overlooked that, since he was only bit twice.
No fun in any of that.

All our previous pets were very social and loved the world and what we did too, from swimming to boating, fishing etc. and going everywhere with us and licking people, not attacking them.
Yep, too raw.
Good and not so great memories.
Hubby is going to hate some of what I am writing here.
I did not cry profusely this time at Gus's death, but I did cry sporadically with memories of the not enough good times, yes we were making progress, but it was slow, three plus years had passed.

Confusion and a hole in both our hearts has caused us to collaborate on the concept of taking in more four legged babies, yep two tiny ones this time, Yorkies or Malteses or Morkies, we were searching for... who knows.
We loved and miss Benji and Brandi our Yorkies who lived fourteen and sixteen years and were wonderful and checked all the boxes of our wants and needs. Lovable, smart, hypoallergenic, loved enjoying whatever we did too. They were easily bathed weekly and hair was trimmed by me by using a mere pair of scissors, so no costly groomers!
Since we do know that there are no grandchildren in our near futures, so why not?

Waiting is the grown up thing to do, and smart and prudent and the proper thing.
And due to our circumstances and not exactly agreeing on things, crate, no crate training, free reign, loose in the van or restrained in the van etc. etc. etc., one or two babies, or Yorkie vs Maltese ect. etc. etc.
So until we have a meeting of the minds, oh and of course the prices are CRAZZEE... mostly too high, so don't worry... right now we seem to doomed to be childless.

Cats are wonderful, and we had three long term relationships with them over decades, but now with my asthma?
And Hubby will not touch a litter box, and outside cats are not our style.

So..... I have no idea.
And perhaps that is the best idea yet!
Open, but not rushing.

Happy good night to all and to all share your blessings and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

Speaking My Mind: Interesting familiar diagnosis for one and horrifi...

Speaking My Mind: Interesting familiar diagnosis for one and horrifi... :   But these are MINE! Not Hubby's! What he has is not contagio...
