Happy Fourth!

Fun, fun, fun!
Heat waves throughout the US of A!
In spite of the heat and stormy weather I do hope y'all had a super duper day that will be topped off with fireworks by your municipalities.
Please do not do them yourselves, as a wife of an ex- Fire Chief while in NJ that could prove to be hazardous!

Right now we are having a nasty lightning storm that is supposed to be over in time for local fireworks, one can only hope.

Take care, be safe and have a great fourth!

Where was I?

On this eve of our nation's two hundredth and thirty-ninth birthday that I was amongst the many who were told about how it all came about, as you were too.
Now I wasn't here or there when it actually did happen, but I was taught all about it as you were too.
The closest I got to part of its origins being in part of my immediate life was having our second son being born in its bi-centennial year and he receiving a birth certificate indicating that.
And knowing that its 200th birthday was quite a BIG deal then.
Though this part is quite embarrassing and I feel another true confession come on me... and for what and why many of you may think twice about reading my spews nightly ever again, although I have repeatedly lamented that I am not that smart and by now I do believe you all know that...well, this is too weird, because I did really, really like my social studies teacher who taught me with those many way back then, 1962, American history as a child to me and all my classmates, who must have retained more than me.
Fast forward fourteen years later...
Since we were going on vacation at that time of the 200th I felt even with our very young sons of four years old and not quite five months old that we would enjoy some historic location on our way to Disney World from our home in south Jersey an hour outside of Philadelphia Pennsylvania.
For some reason I wanted for Hubby to  get us to Williamsburg Virginia for the fourth.
We stopped along the way in Lake Fairfax VA., which we always enjoyed, but for no reason logical or otherwise I wanted and thought we should arrive in Williamsburg for the fourth.
My reasons were not spoken until we arrived and I asked and was surprised that it appeared to be the quietest location for a holiday of this magnitude why?
Why that they were not celebrating this very special occasion?
But no one could tell me and so we had a very tame 200th, without fanfare or excitement or anything and for years I was baffled by that, since no one ever said anything to me.
Most likely too polite, even my Hubby?
For in my enjoyment of my seventh grade history class I must have listened all wrong.
I truly wanted to be where the action was to be and the celebration and all of it, but was stupidly unaware that the majority of it was happening only a stone's throw away from our Jersey home, yes across the Delaware River in Philadelphia!
Thankfully our sons were too young to know of my enormous historic boo boo, and Hubby never said a word about it then or since, but of course he knew and was just being a supportive husband then as now.
And that is why to this day I feel I have so much to learn, since what I did not really learn that first time as well as what there is so much new to learn now!
This techno device still amazes me and I do hope it never becomes too common place I so enjoy figuring out new ways to use it daily along with my somewhat smarter phone.
And so your little ones are not as confused as I was I am enclosing a link to the history channels explanation of how we got to celebrate our independence day!http://www.history.com/topics/holidays/july-4th/videos?mkwid=bF92dkZa5|dc_pcrid_316323945_pkw_fourth%20of%20july%20origin_pmt_b&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=fourth%20of%20july%20origin&utm_campaign=M_Holidays&paidlink=1&cmpid=PaidSearch_bing_M_Holidays_fourth%20of%20july%20origin

On that note allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask all of you to kindly count all your blessings and share all those overages with you know whom and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

Oops I did it again!

I am currently lying in bed sipping club soda, no dinner for me!
Now I am on Imodium, for its usual reasoning of use, and have that low grade fever continuing as well as fatigue.
I have been trying hard to make sure all produce is well washed.
Hubby brought home strawberries again and this time I used white vinegar in my salad spinner to clean them, but the plum tomatoes had some gushy spots that I did cut off and washed them then appropriately. It is true the enormous peach I had late last night was washed quickly with cold water only.
Who knows why?
I have come to the conclusion it just is...
No dairy for me, I don't want any anyway, in other words no more ice cream birthday cake!

Good night, be blessed, take care.
Talk at you tomorrow.
Maybe some chicken broth later with crackers, perhaps.

Thank you Hubby!

In a few minutes, at six thirty P.M., I was told that I had been born sixty-five years ago, (during my later than usual start writing time) but on a Saturday not a Wednesday. Mom said I was polite waiting until after her's and dad's dinner.

As many can see I do NOT need this adorable ice cream cake my darling loving mean-well husband bought for me and as you can see sadly melted slightly due to yesterday's mishap. It is truly the smallest one Carvel makes and so less guilt comes along with it, slightly, and we both only took one slice, a generous one but only that one then it was whisked off back into the freezer until we feel the desire overtake us, like probably tomorrow after dinner once again...but once it is gone it truly IS gone! Or maybe later on tonight a smidge...KIDDING!

That lovely accoutrement on my left cheek is the Nexcare active band aid that fits my needs, yep great in the pool, keeps those stitches nice and dry.I did try counting them, those stitches that is, since the entire area encompasses a fraction of the space that the band aid is covering, just under its gauze area. I came up with about five or six tightly spaced knots, almost an oxymoron, hmm?
I do love Hubby sooo much and what do you get anyone who has everything she does need already? Not-a-thing! I am blessed with all and anything that I could possibly want or need, which is not too much really.

On that note of being one of the lucky ones, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask all of you to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages with you know whom and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

PS MY ultrasound was fine, peace of mind is priceless, true?

Hubby had a minor car accident!

Amazingly he was not injured and our seven and half month old car was not harmed badly either, but being a retired deputy he dialed 911 when the guy who rear ended him while stopped at a light tried to pay him off begging him not to call the cops, which is a proper procedure to do, report it to law enforcement that is, either way you do that, we are a no fault state.
And as we all know that when people act more guilty than they should there is usually a reason. There sure was; it turns out this guy was driving without a license although he did have insurance. His license was suspended nine years ago due too many DUIs and so today he was taken off to jail!
Why does this seem to happen with us, our new pickup truck was hit while parked at our local park by another guy without a license and that was two cars ago. We were with the Explorer Scouts at a picnic table when we all saw him back into it!All of us ran towards him before he got away! I suppose that scared him enough to stop.
That truck was also hit while parked at the grocery, but then the woman who hit it called the police and felt awful and it was taken care of so perfectly. I kept looking to see if I perhaps was parked badly, but it was well within the lines, even the deputy noted that. They were waiting for me when I came out of Winn Dixie that time, back in the last century.
Our other new mini van back in 1987 was dinged badly by a shopping cart let go of in a Walmart parking lot in Ormond Beach by an employee it was full of heavy soil and other garden supplies!
All of these incidents were taken care of by the people's insurances including Walmart's.
This one is so minor but Hubby was stopped at the red arrow on route #41/Tamiami Trail, (named for the first route from Tampa to Miami, runs parallel to I75), waiting for it to turn green to make the left to the street that eventually takes him to our street. He had groceries in the car he had made our bi-monthly run to Publix for out out of everything, there were two hundred dollars worth (plus a surprise mini ice cream birthday cake for my tomorrow's birthday, he was upset he couldn't hide it in the outside freezer since I was trying to help so he could get back to the scene), when he was hit and after he touched base with the deputy who he knew vaguely from years ago the deputy took his info and said that he could drop off the groceries and come back, and so he did. Hubby was only about two blocks from home.
The picture below has to be explained, it is our rear bumper, see not too bad, and that is Gus's Nyla bone showing that the clips were knocked out. He has already called the guys insurance but they are one of those 9-5 companies, unlike ours that is 24/7 in claims, hope they take care of it.

On that note of it could have been much worse, but thankfully wasn't so much relief, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you all to kindly count all your blessings with you know whom and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!PS this fellow had alcohol on his breath and so I do believe it was for his and the rest of the communities benefit that he will be safe from himself and others.

Had my mini skin cancer surgery today

Mohs is that layering surgery that shears the layers of skin and tests as it goes along to prevent severe scarring, but removing any cancer cells.
I do have stitches and they will be removed next week.
My cancer of the scary squamous cell carcinoma type but in situ, meaning the very earliest, in fact mine just needed a surface removal the doctor stated as he did it to my very numb face that did not feel a thing! (Needles to accomplish this effect did burn at first.)
All those worries of being told it is done while awake and no special precautions have to be taken baffled me, that is the me used to the kind of surgeries they hook you up to monitors and knock you out type, ya know?
This was amazing, no pain and done entirely within less than an hour, due to the cells being checked right there and apparently I had clear perimeters and shallow enough disease that mine was a breeze!
The doctor spoke to me about current events and as we can all well imagine was plenty to discuss, all this while CNN was even on the TV in the room, as he worked on my face!
I did admit to the receptionist I was nervous before, about the surgery, since it was, fortunately, one I had not had before.
Apparently, she passed it on to him and he was upbeat and the time went quickly.
At least from my experience.
There are no special after instructions except to keep the bandage on until tomorrow and that is when I can with only a band aid go back into the pool! I still must keep the stitches dry until they come out and only Vaseline on it to keep it clean and that is all she wrote. I do have Mederma in the house for after to lessen the scar, I hope.
I met an older woman, yes older than me, who had had a few similar to mine surgeries around her nose and her scars were barely noticeable. She was waiting for her husband who was having the same surgery on his nose.
When I go back to remove my stitches I asked if the PA could check my bumps over my right eye that also look ominous, sort of similar to the ones she froze on my nose and lip.
Might as well while there, those two frozen ones were precancerous basal cells. I have been zapped with lasers and frozen a few times, maybe a dozen by now, boy that sunshine is hot stuff!
I was wearing zinc oxide but now 50 SPF and of course a hat and sunglasses and you should too. I have not yet gotten into long sleeve blouses and slacks treated for SPF protection but who knows, I might someday. Right now they are not too prevalent or cost effective while slathering 50  SPF is.

On that note of hope all of you enjoy your summer safely with that quiet deadly beast at bay, just take the proper precautions and all will be well and if not there is always Mohs...
Doc and I discussed Melanoma the deadliest of the skin cancers and he said they ARE making progress with that too. I had compared it to pancreatic cancer that we had lost a friend from in less than two years.

On that note of caring to inform from personal experience ... allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask all of you to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages with you know whom and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

PS I had the surgery just after nine A.M. and I still have no pain, a little might be creeping in now, slightly though, it's six thirty.

Lightening or lightning?

I do know the difference, lightening is to make something lighter,  a load or color of fabric or hair or such, cheer up, refresh, alleviate etc.
While “lightning is a sudden electrostatic discharge during an electrical storm between electrically charged regions of a cloud (called intra-cloud or IC)”; thanks Wikipedia + my own brain, ha.

So what possesses me to be so grammatically incorrect on a too regular basis?
There is no grammatical word correct on my blogger page where I have been writing when on my notebook, only abc for spelling, which we all know that does not pick up on similar words used improperly, in other words just spelling counts.

And here’s the rub, as long as I spell words correctly it gives me a pass.
Sure at this point in my life and writings so voraciously I should know better than I do.
It does appear that I do, but at times way too late, months or weeks later, even one time years later I did go back and correct a BIG mistake!
Sadly, if I do not appear to know when I publish of course it is mine, and only my responsibility.
Let’s face the “hack” name for my type of writing is right on target!
Although, if I was a pro getting paid I might have an editor, so many writer’s, that are or were famous have been on occasion grammatically challenged so many you would be shocked there are some that are Dyslexic or have other learning difficulties, imagine how much fun his/her word program or editor had with his/her endeavors, and they were/are so successfully published!
Agatha Christie and Stephen J. Cannell just to name two; twenty-five are listed at the site/link above.

I’m not making excuses, and don’t think for one minute I believe that I am in either of those incredible people’s league, but since I am no where near them, cut me some slack please and I will try and be more careful, okay?

And no I have never been diagnosed with any learning disorders, except perhaps admitting I goofed sooner or maybe no one noticed I had one? I do know that MS has an affect on cognitive issues.

On that note of once again not happy with my own writing and thankful none of you outright say anything, how polite of all of you really, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you all to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages with you know whom and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

PS This was for all you grammar Nazis out there! Be kind to the lesser than you.

Speaking My Mind: Interesting familiar diagnosis for one and horrifi... :   But these are MINE! Not Hubby's! What he has is not contagio...
