Quinoa?

No, I did not cave to the idea of eating only healthy foods or anywhere close to becoming an Orthorexia, by the way, I have reprinted the refresher info below, in case any of you might have forgotten:
"Orthorexia nervosa (also known as orthorexia) is a proposed eating disorder or mental disorder characterized by an extreme or excessive preoccupation with avoiding foods perceived to be unhealthy. The term orthorexia derives from the Greek ορθο- (ortho, "right" or "correct"), and όρεξις (orexis, "appetite"), literally meaning 'correct appetite', but in practice meaning 'correct diet'. It was introduced in 1997 by Steven Bratman, M.D., to be used as a parallel with other eating disorders, such as anorexia nervosa. Orthorexia is not mentioned in the widely used DSM, but was coined by Bratman who claims that in rare cases, this focus may turn into a fixation so extreme that it can lead to severe malnutrition or even death. Even in less severe cases, the attempt to follow a diet that cannot provide adequate nourishment is said to lower self-esteem as the orthorexics blame themselves rather than their diets for their constant hunger and the resulting cravings for forbidden foods. "[
What did happen is what has been happening over the last ten days that I am, dare I say, full of it; MUCUS that is, appearing to cause me to cough!
And it did occur to me when our boys were young and had a cold or ear infection, the pediatrician used to say to keep them off of all dairy, since it makes more mucus. As we all know some of the things we were told years ago have been disproved over the years  and also since I found myself in that horrid production of that nasty stuff, in spite of the Mucinex,so I thought, perhaps I could figure this out all by myself;now don't laugh, why not? (I still can't hear you anyway!)
And so as all us modern gals do, I Googled it!
Yep, I put in "what foods cause too much mucus?"
I read through the ones that appeared and chose the one site that I have trusted previously from the lot:http://www.livestrong.com/article/339269-foods-that-create-mucus/
Basically the information was good enough to eat, ha.
Here it is in a nutshell:

"Foods that Create Mucus

Excess mucus production may be the result of various conditions, including colds, allergies and even food. Whatever the cause, phlegm is irritating, embarrassing and difficult to deal with. It is also a source of potentially harmful bacteria. A well-balanced, healthy diet can help fight off colds, eliminate allergies and enhance the immune system. Furthermore, specific foods can either reduce or augment mucus production.

Dairy

Dairy products are thought to be the primary source of mucus caused by food. Dairy products include milk, yogurt, cheese, sour cream, cottage cheese and ice cream. Each of these foods may produce a thick, irritating phlegm in your throat. Consuming dairy products may also make existing mucus thicker and harder to loosen or thin. This is especially true if you have a milk allergy, as milk is not easily digested.

Animal Products

You may also experience problems with mucus after eating meat, pork, fish, poultry, eggs or other foods derived from animals. These foods are high in protein and can cause a buildup of mucus in your throat. Consuming fish and poultry a few times a week should be all right, but you should avoid pork and red meat if possible. When selecting meats, it is a good idea to choose organic or products that have not been fed commercial food or inoculated with formaldehyde, as these products can increase mucus.

Fats and Oils

You should avoid products fats and oils derived from animals. This includes lard, butter and omega-6 fatty acids. Better choices include flax, corn, sunflower, safflower and olive oil. Vegetable-based oils do not cause the formation of phlegm or thick mucus.

Nuts and Grains

Nuts are typically only a problem if they are oily. Dry roasted nuts should not cause a problem with mucus formation. Foods containing processed wheat flour, however, are known to be mucus-causing. Breads, pastas and processed cereals all cause sinus congestion and mucus. Seeds, legumes, rice, oats and oatmeal also produce mucus. Avoid these products and increase your consumption of barley, corn, buckwheat, millet and quinoa, which are dryer and do not product a thick mucus.

Beverages

Beverages are not typically considered when you think of mucus-forming foods, but some common drinks do cause mucus to build up. While black tea is the worst offender due to its high caffeine content, others include coffee, chocolate drinks, milkshakes, alcohol and soft drinks with high sugar content."

And as you can see Quinoa was on the list and we had Tilapia, Quinoa with almonds and dried cranberries, and cinnamon, along with mixed frozen veggies for dinner tonight. I had it in the pantry. We had bought it a while back, when I was till going with Hubby to the grocery, since he would never have bought it himself, but now he might. We both found it a nice change from pasta, potatoes or rice, our usual choices. And I am happy to say it appears my taste-buds are starting to work a little bit again! But sadly still no relief from those bodily fluids consistently making too much liquid as of yet! I suppose you all know me well enough that with me, I want to feel better yesterday!
Quinoa : "One of the ancient food staples of the Incas,it was called "The Mother Grain." An ivory-colored, tiny, bead-shaped grain. Its flavor is delicate, almost bland, and has been compared to couscous or rice. Quinoa is lighter, but can be used in any way suitable for rice. Quinoa contains more protein than any other grain, and is higher in unsaturated fats and lower in carbohydrates than most grains and is a very good source of calcium, iron, phosphorous, B vitamins, and vitamin E. Quinoa's slow-releasing carbohydrates help to maintain blood sugar levels. "

It's funny about things...

Sometimes I feel not as bad and then the coughing begins again and yep, it's time for the yuck stoppage medication sure enough, every four hours like clockwork.

It is somewhat ironic that I am now taking two more medications, be it only temporary, I hope, when I have once again been through all of this making a concerted effort with weaning myself off of two other medications, my prescriptions of Baclofen and Gabapentin.
As of this past Sunday I am down to only two ten MG. dosing on the Baclofen and as far as the heavy duty Gabapentin goes, now I am proud to say as of that same day I am only on six hundred MG. in total, three hundred in the morning and the same dosing at bedtime, TA DA!

Yes, the weaning process especially for Gabapentin is a weekly event as originally prescribed by my last neuro. I also knew that from what I had read about the drug, it could be nasty situation otherwise. At this rate, I should be done with it in two weeks.

Baclofen over these last nearly eight years that I have been on and off of it is not as dangerous to play with dosage wise, at least not for me and what I would like for it to be around for is when I have any difficult spasms; as I did use it that purpose for a few years not that long ago.

In case some of you have forgotten what those two meds were for here is some information Gabapentin generic, Neurontin is used for epilepsy and for spasticity in Multiple Sclerosis and Baclofen is an anti-spasmodic. For a while there I must admit some of my spasms were pretty bad as if I were suffering from a Grand Mal seizure, but thankfully months ago that had subsided when I weaned myself off of it that last time. The only reason the doctor put me back on them was due to pain from that stupid herniated disc, would you believe?

I HATE DRUGS!
With those two gone I will have gotten rid of three prescription ones and one other was lessened in strength. My one blood pressure medication and the other were cut in half MG. wise!
My last several taken blood pressures have either been low normal or very low just like the old days!
I have eleven days left of my 20MG. of my Copaxone my MS injectable medication, which will make my last day a week from this Saturday, PERFECT!
Why, one might ask, well I'll tell you because I like the way you asked...KIDDING! I can't hear you, and you all know that, but it's because on that very next Monday after that last Saturday of the 20MG. I will be beginning my 40 MG.

What, that's more than what you were taking, I hear you asking, actually you know I can't, right?

NOPE! Since that Copaxone 40 MG. is only taken on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, yes, you heard me right, just three days a week, whoopee!

I do believe I will leave you all on that gleeful note and now allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share all those overages with you who and we will too!

Happy St. Paddy's Day! And some other tibits...

" St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated on March 17, the saint’s religious feast day and the anniversary of his death in the fifth century. The Irish have observed this day as a religious holiday for over 1,000 years. On St. Patrick’s Day, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon. Lenten prohibitions against the consumption of meat were waived and people would dance, drink and feast–on the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage."

My day...
Today I was still not feeling well, with my fever and current yuckiness and so I called up my doc's office early, before she or her nurse would be in.
I left a message on the nurse Cindy's voice mail telling her that the Coricidin after a week's time did not appear to be helping me; and that was around eight-ish in the A.M.

Shortly before noon when I hadn't heard from them, I decided to call that 800 number on the medicine box and ask how long this medicine usually takes to work.
Their customer service representative was surprisingly well informed.
And said the medication is only to be used a week and that it sounded like what I needed to do was to see my doctor and get another medication or even a prescription.

I agreed and told her that I had a call into my physician's office and was just waiting for their return call.
By the time I got in touch with Cindy she wanted me to come in tomorrow.
But I said what do I do in the meantime the medicine I am on can no longer be taken I have a slight fever I said and a cough, she asked me to hold on and got me an appointment for two thirty today.

Dr. Nord was very thorough I  had an uncomfortable nostril specimen taken to see if I had a different strain of flu than what I was inoculated for and a chest X-ray to make sure that even with my pneumonia shot I didn't have some other strain of pneumonia.

Fortunately, that narrowed the possibilities and since I did not have the flu or pneumonia but a bacterial respiratory infection. I am currently now on Cipro 500 MG. 2X a day for only a week and Mucinex every four hours.

Moving on...

What I  tried to tell all of you yesterday was that Hubby has begun a new project that sadly I am not being much help with due to how I have been feeling and because of me  is why it will be more than likely take longer than similar projects have taken in the past... but he has taken pictures and will continue as it progresses and when all is said and done I will post them all!

On that note of a different float, huh? Now allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages with you know who and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

Google is screwed up and so am I!

I wrote a long blog, but it was erased, and no one is telling me why.
And no I did not erase it I saved it.
More tomorrow, I hope.
Still not well, fever and medications seem like water.

People are fussy and so I am giving them what they want, I think...

You never really know what is going to attract their interest. Not that it means anything, nor should it mean anything, damn it; it sure does mean something!

As a being on this planet for many decades I have often voiced my concerns in pleasing my readership with my nightly fun-fare of offerings from and with that said it is difficult to find out what will become a crowd pleaser. That is in the sense what will be that, "torn from the headlines" catch phrase that grabs your designated audience and brings them directly into your undivided attention of what you are trying to say, hmm?
I do know one thing that I have more luck with framing out or outlining my ideas when I speak them out loud, so bear with me.
Oh wait that is when I write them down, or is it when I PINCREST them on a storyboard?
No, maybe it’s when I have a dream that wakes me and then I write them down?

Confusing, sure it’s difficult being me, but I bet some days it is that way for you to be you too, true?
Clogged brain, no excuses, I hear you saying… oh NO I DON’T, Why folks, because I CAN’T HEAR YOU!

Any-who, I do try so hard to write nightly, whether I feel well enough or not; and I must admit that my quality and originality of content does take a hit now and then which makes my topics, appear to stay in my own venue of icks, sickly icks.
But what is one to do?
Especially when this is MY BLOG and it is ABOUT ME!
Sure I do know I have said this many a time, but that is why I have this site.

But you all know that.

Sometimes, like tonight, I feel that I have stayed too long at the fair, ya know?

The world does need our attention, and I do have a better idea about my opinions about all the most recent happenings… you want to hear them?

I can’t hear you, but you all knew that!

The missing plane, Malaysian flight 370, seems to be the most disconcerting since no one has any definitive answers on where a 777 with 239 people on board would be hiding in our vast seas… My friends and I have thought of everything, and even tried going to that site that crashed to help look, but speculation is all anyone seems to have still…which is deadly sad.

Silly comments that I even made myself about perhaps it is the promo for a sequel to the TV series Lost, or they were hijacked by people looking for political asylum and safely landed in some foreign land. And that of all the scenarios would be the best.

But the pros keeping coming back to the airship having a malfunction of some sort and blowing apart, breaking up and being spread all over the ocean floor…

The landing one would be fine with me, in the mean time praying couldn't hurt.

The Ukraine is such a powder keg and I know so little about the horrid happenstance of why anyone would want to purposely, at this time, go to war for political reasons when they are relatives with all the nations involved, is beyond my ken;… it makes me just horrified and terribly saddened that these countries that had been one and divided and established democracy are now not happy? Putin, is a man that is not easily understood, but I do believe he is very dangerous.

The unbelievable gas explosion in Spanish Harlem in NYC the other day, eight dead and so many more injured, which is so very, very, very sad. Why, is all I can say? Gas has an odor, and CON-ED was called, I do believe, or I could be wrong. I do recall a spokesperson for Con-Ed denying it though, saying that they had phone records from the area stating that had only two and the last call was nearly three years ago? And the two that they had record of were dealt with and fixed?

None of that matters anymore. Just remember that lives are at stake when something doesn’t seem right, or smell right or look right, call the authorities and KEEP CALLING THEM!

On my notes of a few noteworthy notes, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you all to kindly count all your blessings and share those overages with you know who and we will too!

Halleluiah, Halleluiah, Halleluiah , Hal le lu ya!

Crazy! As I stare down at my new FLORIDA BLUE OPTIONS CARD in all its glory of multi-shaded blues with clouds to boot, that finally arrived today; two months after the process was initiated for the change from Select to Options it came in with a whimper and not, disappointingly, with a brass band preceding its fanfare championed for its arrival!
Gosh, what a let down, nah, I'm good.
But have any of you ever wondered when you fought both tooth and nail with stressful perseverance, out of the wazoo, figuratively of course, not literally, if the thing you fought so hard to attain actually knew it?
Nah, too much to ask for and to covet inanimate objects has to be against nature or G-d, or both, hmm?

The biggest thing I did once it was held firmly in my grasp, was to verify that the new neuro was STILL listed on this so magical card of unique distinction. And thankfully OMG he is! Yep, I made another appointment with the one that Hubby had heard a person say he wasn't that  good with MS patients, but oddly enough I am determined to make the old guy, and yep, he is a couple of years my senior to understand what we both have to do! This is the one that I had been sent to via a rheumatologist about my spondylosis Gosh probably fifteen years or so ago. They do not keep records that far back, but the nurse receptionist remembered my last phone call and eventual cancellation, but was extremely pleasant to say the least.
So my concerns for having a new doc for neurological reasoning’s of Multiple Sclerosis as well as back and neck issues, and if heaven forbid I get anymore mini strokes.
I forgot the initials/acronym just now for mini strokes…
Oh well, I am on more drugs that is LEGAL OVER THE COUNTER COLD MEDICATION, Coricidin, and it could be slightly interfering with my personal circuitry. Its not suppose to do that.
Still not up to par by any means, feel crappy, sorry a nasty description of how one feels with orifices in the head region spewing fluids… TMI? SORRY!
Just realized I got TMI, too much information and TIA, transient ischemic attack, mini stroke, mixed up, whoa, scary!
Well, on that note of who knows what, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages with you know who and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
