If nothing else since the incident...

...that is since the dog bite incident we have been going out periodically and leaving Gus home alone.
He had been the first dog that we hadn't left at home alone, always taking him everywhere with us, that is up until this last time of going to the hospital eight days ago.
Last year with my road rash lip bite we had crated him, but this time we left him all alone with the run of the house.
He has never been destructive when we are there, but I suppose due to his unknown origins we both had a slight fear we were creating a little guy who might have severe separation anxiety, but it never happened, he proved he was trustworthy.
While we have been home most afternoons he has been sleeping anyway.
Dogs do sleep about sixteen hours a day I read somewhere.

So this late morning at eleven a.m. I had a haircut appointment and Hubby and I decided to also go up to North Port for lunch at and inside(with Gus along it would be outside or in our car) the Old World Restaurant that we had not been to before.
I knew about it from our muralist Ginny Robbins who had done our seascape in our dinette back in 2004. She had said that she also had done the ones in that particular restaurant; Gosh it sure took us way too long to check it out, sadly Ginny passed away a few years ago.
Anyway, we went and had a lovely lunch with items chosen from their diverse menu from all cultures.
The prices were moderate, but in line with most all other places.
Foolishly after all that waiting I forgot to take pictures of the many walls decorated by this woman years before ours.
The restaurant has been there since 1988, a long time in this era for an eatery to survive.
The pictures were all tropical in nature, and yes it was all nature with herons of all types, flamingos included, toucans, parrots, macaws etc., floras all tropical, palms, grasses, elephant leaves etc.calming blue, blue waters actually very colorful due to the bevy of beautiful birds surrounding it all.
All in all it was very nice to see.
And to proudly tell the hostess who had been there since they had opened way back then seemed to recall Ginny and we told her about that Ginny Robbins who had also done our mural in our home.
Lunch portions were once again too big, we must learn to share in at home restaurants as we have done while on vacation, but we both can't believe we ate the whole thing, delish! A guilty Reuben for me, and combo pastrami and corned beef for Hubby, with sides of fries and onion rings and Cole slaw, and our iced water and lemons! I cannot truthfully recall the last time I had a Reuben (It was good); I did have skim milk and corn Chex with a banana for breakfast.
Any-who, Hubby was so full and he did not eat supper; I had the last of my homemade tomato soup, just a smidge was left enough for one truly.

On that note of yum, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night, and kindly ask you all to count all your blessings and share all those overages with you know whom and we will too!

And next time please or be here or be square, ya hear!
