Isolationism for one local news station to keep our news only local

Fear has made me want to know why a local TV station would take such a hardcore decision on giving its viewer’s only information about local news stories.
To me it does not seem beneficial, but even their ad blurbs are professing that is all any of us locals need or really want, how presumptuous of them; what are you thinking and why would you assume that, I would like to ask them?
Are we being told that the rest of the world and country in our little southwest Florida area that they have no influence on what happens here?
Or is it that they truly believe this is what their audience prefers?
I am baffled by this major decision that reeks of a larger issue possibly:

"Milestones: 1937–1945

American Isolationism in the 1930s

During the 1930s, the combination of the Great Depression and the memory of tragic losses in World War I contributed to pushing American public opinion and policy toward isolationism. Isolationists advocated non-involvement in European and Asian conflicts and non-entanglement in international politics. Although the United States took measures to avoid political and military conflicts across the oceans, it continued to expand economically and protect its interests in Latin America. The leaders of the isolationist movement drew upon history to bolster their position. In his Farewell Address, President George Washington had advocated non-involvement in European wars and politics. For much of the nineteenth century, the expanse of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans had made it possible for the United States to enjoy a kind of “free security” and remain largely detached from Old World conflicts. During World War I, however, President Woodrow Wilson  made a case for U.S. intervention in the conflict and a U.S. interest in maintaining a peaceful world order. Nevertheless, the American experience in that war served to bolster the arguments of isolationists; they argued that marginal U.S. interests in that conflict did not justify the number of U.S. casualties."

Let me clarify, I do not wish or intend to become involved in the world’s political issues, but need to know what they are, got that?

Sure the word isolationism has a broader meaning than what I am trying to express here, but to be isolated from the world or controlled on a local level on what we watch, is a form of  socialism, it would seem to me in some aspects:Socialism and communism are ideological doctrines that have many similarities as well as many differences. One point that is frequently raised to distinguish socialism from communism is that socialism generally refers to an economic system, and communism generally refers to both an economic system and a political system. The means of production are publicly owned in both systems, but the ways that money and resources are distributed are different. In socialism, each person is allotted resources according to his or her input, or amount of work, and in communism, each person is allotted resources according to his or her needs. Many people consider communism to be a "higher" or more extreme form of socialism.” Thanks to: http://www.wisegeek.org/what-is-the-difference-between-socialism-and-communism.htm#didyouknowout

I am just so happy that not all the available news stations for us non-cable users are not so narrow minded and have the good sense to report on all aspects of the news including necessary informative stories with national and worldwide ramifications. Consequently, I had made, along with Hubby the decision to no longer watch this particular station or its sister station under their same umbrella of ownership.

We have another local wonderful station named WINK, which is a CBS affiliate that does not subscribe to that way of thinking, as well as many on the Internet/cable ones to chose from that take the fact that the world gets smaller everyday and it is absolutely necessary with our abilities to communicate with that world or even other places in our own country and that is why it is of the utmost importance that we as individuals living here in America must have the ability to be informed. Not only for our children's sake to learn, but to be able in many cases to conduct business or even communicate with friends and family.

The saddest thing is that the commercial they have made makes it sound that they truly believe that is what their viewers want.

Gosh what an insult, considering that whomever watches them is that dumb and not interested in the whole country or the world. Of course national news is on for a half an hour after they go, but then at night and in the morning we have not-a-thing, but local from them. Even the shows after them on their station from NYC are more fluff than substance lately it seems, and so we have been very happy with our choice of saying good-bye to their form of what they think us as consumers want.

One other station over the years has gotten the reputation of telling lies, and I am more than sure most will know the one I mean.

Sadly, this local stations national affiliate has had most recently had many upheavals of their news-anchors, by them being replaced with more trustworthy, non embellishing, non biased speakers of the facts, which is why a few of their people have been let go and we no longer hear about or from them; again I am more than sure you all know of whom I am speaking.

In closing, I am very worried if that is all my neighbors here really want from a station. To me it would mean so many negative things to think that they too would be so non-caring of what is around us in this world and not to look at the bigger picture, is scary!

They would have erased all major stories from the beginning of our visual/audio news history, what if we knew nothing of 9/11 or the mass murders currently happening all over the country,  in these past few years, or the weather, fires, floods, and tornadoes, and hurricanes and such…how could we help anyone, if no one knows…?

I’m just saying… sure life is hard and at times horrible, but we as human beings are all in this together and that is why we must KNOW in order to do something!

That is all.

On that note please be sure to know that I do care, and staying well informed should be accessible for everyone, now allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask all of you to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages with you know whom and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
