We all know the story of the
spilt personalities of the aforementioned entitled characters. One being calm
and the other being nearly a monster, oh yes a monster!
And sadly, there are still so
many things we do not know of our little guy’s past our Gus, but that sedation
medication did not seem to have any affect on his behavior at the groomers, oh
no, not any affect at all.
The incident was described to me as if he had transformed
not unlike the characters mentioned in my title, where this calm waggly tailed
happy puppy went Cujo! His eyes went back into his head and he turned blue,
perhaps Hulk-like, but not green, I suppose that was his tongue that turned
blue as he tried hard to kill each and every tech in the room, all bite gloves
were bit through! And so in spite of this major transgression of aggression we
received a call for permission to put him full under with gas.
Fortunately, as
I said before the vet, our vet has this groomer as part of his full office
services. After examined by the vet and after we felt what other choice did we
have, since his eyes were in jeopardy, I said yes to this extremely expensive
necessity to make sure our little guy will be comfy and not have irritated
eyes, which can cause eye diseases and blindness…I did request that they make
it as short as they could so he would not have to endure this apparent trauma
for as long as we can keep the whole thing at bay…And the below pics are before
and after…. The whole process was completed.
As many might not understand who
do not have dogs with hair that doesn’t shed, making them basically hypo allergenic
and in need of haircuts accordingly, it is not just a fashion statement
grooming a dog it is a health reasoning too...
Anal glands are expelled,
toenails are cut, and ears are cleaned and checked for debris that besides the
eyes can cause serious health issues of infections. So all in all this is
important for all dogs who need this process. The $150 anesthesia plus the
haircut were discounted considerably due to them just being nice, for no other
reason. Normally both would have been nearly two hundred, with the haircut
being forty-five added to the sleeping gas, instead they charged us $140 for
both, shush, and that’s just between us. They recommended coming in every six
to eight weeks, but I told them his hair had not needed cutting since November
and that is when we think he was originally sheared, but when we got him by the
end of December it was still quite short, and this time they did shear him
again and I do think we might be able to wait a while longer, I hope, for all
our sakes… That call from them this morning had me shaking most of the morning
and calling the rescue organization again asking more questions about his past
that must have been horrid! My contact woman there called back and truly was
trying so hard to help us, but could only surmise that when the animal control
picked him up and sheared him it might have been cold and fast. I suggested not
unlike an inanimate object I feared...
.
On that note of so much hope
and praying that Gus will assimilate to all situations in time, soon, allow me
to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask all of
you to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages with you
know whom and we will too!
And next time please be here
or be square, ya hear!
