Each day a little bit better... for me

Relief knowing that!
Life is too short to wallow in ills...

When something slaps you in the face reminding you how life is so precious...
Sadly our local meteorologist who was injured falling off his bicycle on Sunday passed away from his traumatic brain injury last night.
Jim Reif, who was originally from Cherry Hill New Jersey and born in 1952.
His job here was to keep us posted on inclement weather and in his thirty-five years here in southwest Florida, with the first twenty with CBS and the last fifteen with ABC and NBC; sister companies of Waterman Broadcasting. Many of us can remember all those horrendous storms that he was on the forefront of warning us to take shelter from or that we should be ready to evacuate etc.

His colleagues remember his love for Philadelphia cheese steak sandwiches and was fortunate to locate a place here in Port Charlotte that he would buy two and eat one and take the other home.

He recently came back from a trip to Europe where he proposed to the love of his life Jane Hess in a castle in Germany, and she said yes, just a week ago... how things can change in the blink of an eye...

He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and respected him, as his much loved friends and family I am more than sure...So longe, bis dann Jim!
I met him briefly with Hubby, at a Hurricane Seminar at the Port Charlotte Town Center Mall back in June 2. 2012. He seemed quite personable and willing to talk to all his avid fans who respected his expertise and knowledge to quell any weather concerns, a gentleman, a gentle giant; of six foot five stature.
