Most of us know that even the
best laid plans and all that…can at times go awry?
That is the way life is;
unpredictable, which makes it sometimes challenging, sometimes infuriating,
sometimes interesting and on that rare occasion, at times, funny.
Today was a bit of some of
those.
We met the notary at the bank
for that missing witness signature on our mortgage document and we got there
about ten minutes early, but the traveling notary, Julie Lease (Would you
believe that was her name? Although, ours was a bought for the third time, not
a rental.), from Arcadia
was even earlier than us and was promptly waiting there and even opened the
door for Hubby and I since the automatic one was not working. The witness was
one of the bank employees, a woman with the last name Lopez, Jeanette and so I
teased, asking if she was related to Mario. (Wink) She wished, but no.
Unfortunately, although the
bank is adjacent to the rehab, just across the parking lot, in fact; due to the
heavy rain we chose to park in front of the bank, our first stop and then Hubby
instead of whishing through the lot from the closer to the rehab spot, we
hopped from one handicapped spot to another.
I suppose due to the rain it
was quiet there, at the rehab and so my equipment were both free of others
using them and so I went back to my usual order, arm cycle first than the slant
board, with still no increases in reps.
Since the rain air cooled our
usual warmer temperatures down to the high sixties, low seventies I foolishly
left my cooling vest at home. My reasoning was my need for a sweater which I
was wearing in the bank and upon entering the rehab too.
But as I begun my program on
the cycle I began to perspire and feel quite uncomfortable and so the sweater
was removed.
Hubby suggested drinking some
of my beverage, which is club soda, in our refillable stainless thermoses,
since he has one too, but his contains tap water.
It seemed to help and I was
able to complete my reps for the ten minutes I am still allotting myself.
The slant board loomed large
and Hubby recommended forgetting it today, but I was determined to do it, I am
like that once I commit to something I want to follow through… and my fear is
once I stop I won’t come back.
Hubby placed me in my
wheelchair in front of the chair that helps with the transfer.
I hesitated and decided to
wait awhile.
It wasn’t very long, but
longer than my usual in between time for rest of use of each of the two
machines that I have been using.
I used the twenty-five and
twenty-five reps system and yet I was exhausted with cold sweat drizzling
through my head and back…It was very frightening to me since I became weak and
less capable.
It was even difficult getting
into the car, but I had wanted to go to the Cultural Center and so Hubby
followed through with my request and we ate lunch there and he even drove me
around via my wheelchair chariot and than we left to go home.
I had trouble getting out of
the car and so he rolled me from the car into the house, and into the bedroom
for a nap.
My eyes had been funky all
day long going in and out, blurry and pained and foggy and almost as if a
curtain was drawing close… and my dizziness has been coming and going too.
All I can say it was good to
be home, although, I do enjoy going out, as you all know.
But our homes are our
sanctuaries and we all have that or at least we should have that feeling with
where we hang our hats… and we are so happy that we feel that way.
Oddly enough, in all the
forty-two years Hubby and I have been married this home is the one that we have
lived in the longest and perhaps that is why it has become that for us…
On that note of much note,
allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and
ask you to kindly count all your blessings and to kindly share all your overages
with you know who and we will too!
And next time please be here
or be square, ya hear?!
PS I guess, no matter what I
will need to take that cooling vest along in the cooler if not on me…
