Interesting stats...

Spoiling your child with things, may cause them to covet them.

Having them earn what they desire makes them appreciate them more.

Which is true? Both or one more than the other? Raising two sons who had been given much but also worked hard to attain things I never thought about it much, until now…

Than how does one explain this little model darling of ours?

Wearing three of his scarves from his collection?

Yes, three. And how do we handle this issue that is laughable, but sneaky!

Mommy, me, felt it was a teaching moment when dear sweet canine companion Skipper kept sneaking them out of the bag that holds all of his many years of collecting his wardrobe’s worth? You see, my sharps container for my Copaxone is in the bottom of our closet and when I go in there to take it out and turn my back on him while in my chair prepping that is when he does it, half the time I don’t know until he escapes into the living room. He has been doing this for quite some time and I always used to just put them back, but recently I decided to try this experiment that doesn’t seem to have the same affect as if a person were doing it, I know they wouldn’t… and I wouldn’t…And so these last two times, since one was put on just because he always has to have one on, yes, his idea… when he stole the last two I decided to see how he would react to putting them on him too? So far he appears to feel the need to wear them all without any negative response what-so-ever.

He is never outside longer than it takes to do his business and so they are not too hot, although, some say they, people, wear them to absorb sweat, but dogs, and dare I say that about our son, calling him a dog feels wrong, sweats through his mouth, I think?

Here are the remainder of his wardrobe to date:

This is me displaying all his clean scarves on the guest-room bed, it being white and all that to be honest came with his many grooming experiences over these nine plus years! Except for the one that was a publicity one with the bag from a K-nine product.

Here’s the question, what would you do?

I know laugh, which we do regularly, since he is so adorable and causes us to laugh at his intelligent ways. And I do close the door as quickly as possible that’s what is so baffling; he is so very fast, and sneaky, for lack of a better description.

I suppose he and I can go on this way for years with him taking his own scarves and me thinking I can teach this older fellow newer tricks by putting them on him one at a time as he goes until the two dozen are all neatly attached to him?

Nah, he won, although, he let’s you know when you remove any that he wants it back, no winning now that he has seriously gotten figuratively and literally attached to all three that may be how he will have to be dressed after his baths, and grooming experiences!

He reminds me of that little girl in that laundry detergent commercial about her wanting to always wear her princess dress except for a few hours when daddy gets her to wear her cowgirl/sheriff’s one so he can wash it…

Well, you got to be here!

On that odd note of when your kids grow up and move away and you have no grands… your pets become more important than ever! Although, ours were even when the boys were still at home... Who knows if we did have grands when they would go home it would more than likely be the same thing… please allow me now to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share those overages with you know who and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

Our crops are coming in...

And no, we are not farmers, we are Floridians!
Although, not true to born here ones, who would never ever tell you that, we are; even though we have been here since 1986!
 Avocados
 Honey Tangerines

 Pineapples
 Ponderosa Lemons

We are organic gardeners and use our compost from our kitchen waste after it ferments in our side yard enclosed composter we attained from the city years ago, looks a little like a great big black barrel stove, mostly fruit and vegetable peels, coffee grounds, egg shells etc. to bolster the soil and insecticidal soap for dealing with insects; it’s by the Safer brand, but with all the recent rain it looks as if those avocado leaves could use a bit more… tree is so tall too, about twenty feet now.
Soon we will have another crop of tomatoes too… and some years we have had in the past an abundance of Romaine lettuce as well.
It has been our experience that whenever we have more than just the two of us can use, we share.
Over the years we have shared with my seniors when I was a volunteer, people at work, neighbors, and even with one of Hubby’s co-workers from the sheriff’s office who had cows, our grapefruits!
But that tree was lost due to the hurricane of 2004, just as well with our cholesterol medication we cannot eat grapefruits anymore, and how I loved them… that tree had white and pink on it, must have been grafted, it was here before we came to this home.
The twenty-foot avocado tree was started by me from the pit from one bought at the grocery. The pineapples were started by their toppers, first one than two and on and on it would seem. I see more babes sprouting out, pineapple babies, and do you see them too?

Moving on…
The rain has gone to a twice a day romp in this area, but thankfully not stormy, just a gentle rain, the kind that does a gardener’s crops good.
No lightening or thunder and so this is definitely the best kind!

This weather causes me to get a bit more tired and so I will close this up for tonight and so allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share all those overages with you know who and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

Like me, like my page, follow me, follow my page?

Why is it on social media that we have this incessant need to be liked?
Does it mean that all these business networking types are actually insecure?
It reminds me of junior high with friends’ cliques.

I know I know it is a contest to get the most people to your site that you are selling, what?
For whenever I arrive at their site, determined to fill their need, there is nothing telling me why I am there. If they do say what they do for their living and it is not illegal, depraved or disruptive to society I will usually like it/them.

Although, on a few occasions I have dishonestly said, sure, when asked and not even gone there; oops did I just say that out loud?

We all know that in our heart of hearts it is times like these that we don’t want, need or care to make waves in the world, right?
The world has enough problems to deal with without me adding to them, don’t ya think?

And it appears that this last generation is not so sure on how to proceed with whatever they are trying to provide for the rest of us…simple, has always proven to be the best way when needing to describe what it is that you want from the rest of us patrons/consumers and I only wish they were more specific. I suppose that some may find that too demanding.

To tell you the truth I am at a loss with so many of the menu specific concepts now on our joint social site, like the ‘follow’ gadget on the timeline. In truth, I had no idea what it was when I initiated it a few weeks ago and then all of a sudden people started to go on it and I found out that many were just there waiting to become my friend and as soon as I friended them they no longer were following me, odd, and confusing. And than they’re some that if you try to let them friend you they don’t and continue to just follow you! I still don’t get it?

You see, with my blog it makes sense to me if they follow you there… Although, I do know that once you post that you follow someone it can’t be undone, since many are no longer really there, or are they? WOO WHO.... We have parted ways, unfriended them by me or themselves unfriended me and one forgot that she had been there already and she dittoed herself! Quite perplexing if you think too hard on it, so I won’t! LOL!

In reality, that just sort of let the cat out of the bag about me too, who doesn’t want to be accepted?
Any who said that they don’t, goodbye, you lie! Sorry, but true.
I know as we get older we say we don’t care, because with all our wisdom we are supposed to have all this confidence from our life experience and being independent, but ya know it ain’t true!
All of our days are a bit sweeter with knowing that others care that we are here on this planet and that we will be here for many, many, years from now on…you know that is true, that’s what puts the human in human nature, hmm?

Contradictions too, I have said some things one day and switched my brainwaves in almost the next tact or tract, opposite direction, without skipping a beat… more than likely taking more time to reconsider. And taking the time to do something, oh so simple… TO THINK!
Sure, I know looking back at my own writings here I can see that has happened several times, stuff happens is my only excuse!
But the complexity of us all is what makes us interesting, right?
Not dishonest.

Changing our mind is a normal growth pattern for many.
As long as it is all encompassing, and I have been known to waffle on some of those issues, but that is my problem, not yours, since I rarely if ever have that much power!
We are told we do though, aren't we and we told our kids too, didn't we...
One person could change the world, and so we should all check our words more carefully, starting with my own…you check yours, okay? Whew, share the wisdom.

On that note of a bit of my own writings causing some, okay, a lot of confusion, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share all those overages with you know who and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

Our morning rain on our backyard pool, looks a little like a bubbling caldron, hmm? And no, I am NOT A WITCH or any rhyming of that either! HA!

You know summer is here when...

You have rain daily!
And that rain has come in a little later than usual for us; it is mostly an afternoon event in our summers due to the clash of heavy humidity with hot, hot, hot, temperatures and boom, you get stormy weather!

After I wrote just one sentence a little while ago we had a flicker of power going off and thankfully this old fashioned PC that started out as a Gateway brand one, but has since been fractured into newer parts when the older ones died of natural deaths, and it is plugged into a surge protector, just like our 160 Lb. large screen 32” Sony TV in the breakfront in the living-room!

If all gets fried, these two electronics will live on…to our detriment sadly, both are nine years old this year. Our deductible on our homeowners’ insurance is more than they are worth now anyway. Oh well…

Life goes on… with us in Sun Country, our nickname for our coast here is the ‘Sun-Coast’ in southwest Florida, which is redundantly called the ‘Sunshine State’! For we know that it shall return, sun that is! More than likely in the morning, ha! Although, our meteorologist on our NBC-2 station out of Fort Myers Florida, Robert Van Winkle is saying it is in the morning for the next several days that us here on the south-west coast, coast will be having rain ala in the morning? Not our usual way to conduct beach time here, although, now many can sleep in who were planning on an early get to the sun and fun type of day! Touristas now you know what to expect here for tomorrow and the next few days, okay? Rest assure that the day will get better early on and as of yet a return trip of afternoon showers has not been predicted, swim/surf/sunbathe on… dudes and dudettes!
The rain always has a way of making me nervous, not the rain itself it’s just innocent water and we can always use some of that, not too much, just enough, but it’s with that lightning being embedded in it; and that thunder can be scary too, but a nifty warning!
But that lightning is deadly and this, our lovely state of Florida, also has the notorious distinction of being the ‘Lightning Capital’ of the entire country that is of USA!
Safety is of the utmost importance when you hear those thunder boomers; don’t count how faraway it is, TAKE COVER INDOORS AND AWAY FROM WINDOWS!  The idea of out running lightning could prove fatal and has too many times to too many, sadly, two just this week!

Moving on…

Rewind: Yesterday, when we went out to lunch at the Goal Post, sports grill and bar we had a funny experience. My right ornamental lens from my eyeglasses fell out and I was neatly tucked into my table and I had to roll out and pray that I did not roll over it… although it is plastic like all are today…any-who, Hubby found it on the carpeted floor and it was fine and the tiny screw in the bridge of the frames was oddly enough still there!
And so when the waitress came upon the odd scene of me rolled out and us both staring at the floor she wondered what was up and we told her. We ordered our lunches and Hubby kiddingly said that if you have a screwdriver too.
Actually, Hubby had his miniature multi-tools set in our car and so he took my glasses outside with him and in a jiffy he was back with them all fixed!

When our order arrived not only did the server deliver our fish plates and Hubby’s coffee and my iced tea but a screwdriver too! The funny part was it was the type that you drink! The server must have written it down and forgot about the eyeglass incident! She laughed as she took the beverage away, but said we could have it; Hubby said he doesn’t drink and drive and I said that I am on too many meds, but in the day, I kinda liked screwdrivers, the drinking kind that is…ha!

On that silly note of what fun life can be when you let it, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you kindly to count all your blessings and share all those overages with you know who and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

Just short of an hour and half...

Storm came in and shut down our power, only for an hour and twenty-five minutes, from 3:50 P.M. to 5:15 P.M.
I am usually the first in the area to call it in on our land-line with the old fashioned hook-up, not the newer kind, without the wire attachment.

Perhaps, the reason that I am the first is probably because many have the other type, wireless and in a power failure they don’t work. Of course your cell does, that is if it wasn’t that bad a storm, the type that takes those towers down, but this wasn’t.

Being the first I think confuses the computer system, since when no other calls have come in yet many a time they tell us to check our electric panel to see if it snapped off, due to no other complaints of no power. Then they go on to say, in that computer voice, if that is the case we have to reset it and if it doesn’t reset to call a licensed electrical contractor, since it is NOT their problem most likely yours! Huh? Well, Hubby went into the garage where our panel is and immediately said that no, ours did not snap shut-off, and the meter which is on the same wall was not working at all either!
I went back to the phone, but it seems the computer who said they would hold on to wait till we checked, hung up; if they can do such things, I suppose this proves that they can, hmm?

And so I called back, and this time they told me that it was a main power line down due to the storm and two hundred and thirty-five homes were also out of power…It’s nice to be exonerated and not made to feel at fault… whew!
The approximate repair time would take until 5:45 P.M.; this was still only around four, okay I thought, not too bad.
As most all of you know I get antsy and so around five-ish I gave them another call…since they did promise updates by phone on our land-line and not one had come in! So I called and this time the compu-voice said they were working on the problem and now only one hundred and thirty–one homes were still without power, which at that point we were included…and the automated tone gave me a new time when the repair would be accomplished of 7:30 P.M., what??????

Fortunately, Hubby and I had another big lunch out…we had a bit of a bunch of stops today, starting with my gym/rehab time and from there to the bank drive thru, across the parking lot from the gym/rehab, to cash a check we received for an overpayment at closing, $17, we are slowly building up our cash in case of having to evacuate due to a hurricane and this went into that pot… after there my new medical insurance card had to be copied at my doctor’s office right on the next block and then Hubby went in for that, and from there to Meals on Wheels, a few more blocks away, where Hubby got the brilliant idea to donate quite a few, six, of my Styrofoam coolers that my Copaxone is delivered in to them so that they can deliver their meals to the elderly and even eighteen of our cold packs, we had accumulated so many cold packs, in just the three years that I have been on the Copaxone. I had tried to originally give them, coolers and cold packs, to the Red Cross, but there were too many glitches with getting the local number for contacting them. Hubby’s idea was absolutely wonderful and they were very happy to receive them. Then a stop at Walgreen’s for our fancy wine, and lastly to the Goal Post Restaurant, for a lunch fish special at $4.99!
Just around the time of 5:15 P.M. when the power was restored, Hubby and I had chosen our light dinners, his would you believe was a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, comfort at its finest and mine a salad, those were going to be pretty much what we were going to have anyway, except for some homemade soup, next time. Hard to make soup without power, unless it’s a Gazpacho; but you still have to use a blender or food processor or of course cold Borscht could have worked, which I do have beets in the pantry and of course living in hurricane country we do have a hand held can opener. Oh well, more ideas just flow in after the fact… Hubby wouldn’t eat Borscht though anyway… just as well, not big on Gazpacho for his likes either, those are more to my liking.

On those high and low notes of a more than a boring day, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages with you know who and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

An Anniversary!

Day One

Hello world!

I'm Tobi, a woman who will be 58, next Tuesday, July first.
And I must add that I am lucky enough to have a husband, of 37 years; to enjoy this second half of life's journey, although many will say we are way past halfway!
Anyone have any ideas how to enjoy this time in our lives?

Life to this point has been a roller coaster ride, and I have never ever put on the brakes.

We are retired on a limited set income with health issues, but do enjoy family, reading, fishing, gardening, and trying to stay fit. I have volunteered for many organizations over the years, and enjoy writing, and have been published sparingly here and there.

Fortunately, we do live in Florida where the sun does shine most of the time barring any sudden showers, or heaven forbid, hurricanes.

We have two adult, single sons. Who live two hours away in either direction, and are independent capable men. A Bichon Frise four years old named Skipper, a domestic long haired cat of 12, named Casey, and a 29 year-old Cockatiel named Charley.

I have MS and arthritis, and today, I have hip pain from bursitis. Other than that I am just peachy keen!

This week I have discovered an author that I had not yet read, Nancy Pickard...how I do love female mystery writers from Florida. And male authors too that write using our state as a backdrop, Randy Wayne White, James Hall; are two that come to mind. Not to say that I don't read male authors that are not from here, Robin Cook, James Patterson, and Michael Crichton to name a few... actually all of them do live here part of the time.

First day!
Went well I think.
Hope to hear from you with positive intelligent feedback.”

I bet you thought you were in a time warp or something, hmm?
The above was my very first entry that began all this and yes, those dates and ages are all correct! And being proud to get as old as we can stems from… Since we all know that the only alternative to not getting older is…must I interject here, well, that is sadly, DEAD! So let’s all get as old as we can and tell others how old we are with pride! Okay, just me, but if you feel the urge to follow suit don’t be shy, since it really doesn’t hurt!

Unfortunately, Casey the cat, died that fall at just about thirteen, not shameful for any feline, but Charlie the Cockatiel hung in there until thirty-one, unusual for one of his species, most live to around sixteen, a few till twenty, he was definitely amazing! As we all should be, that is by trying hard to defy our normal life spans! Never give up!

I thought it would be fun to dig this up, out of the archives, here at Google’s well maintained keeping of EVERYTHING! Could you imagine if it was all stored in an old fashioned filing cabinet or even a room for such things like we oldies used to do? I suppose it would look a little like mine that I still do keep for tangible evidence and hard copies of all our necessary info that who knows when we could, might or probably would need it… although, recently Hubby did shred a few older years worth that we both felt were alright to surrender, from around circa 2005, 6, 7, 8, 9. Our taxes today all have to be kept here, in this country, for only 3-5 years now, no longer seven, which we did sufficiently! It is really a fire hazard so best to purge much more often than us! My retired fire chief Hubby and me; do as I say, not as I do…only some things, okay many…but not too many…ha!

Moving on… any-who…
Our day was much today as I suspected that it would be, calm and very quiet and as many of us know that is nothing to sneeze at, peace with quiet is always a good thing when at home that is.
And so to close this up tonight as I so often do I am here to make one severe correction, last night I wrote that only five thousand had read this in five years, well I was wrong, and I did go back and correct that, it is closer to 28,000! To be honest though before I post this tonight it is exactly, 27, 651 persons have read my five years of blogs, 349 short of what I said and that’s me honest to my detriment, but I bet you knew that!
PS I also corrected my conversion of that 20 degrees Celsius from being equivalent to 50 degrees Fahrenheit, it is actually 68 degrees F, but still chilly by our Florida standards!

Life is good and admitting that you make mistakes helps change things for the better and also allows for learning daily as I still want to do… since when you stop that, ‘learning’ thingy that is when you die! A warning only in the nicest way, but true!

On that note of one heck of a note, allow me to be the very first to wish you all a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages with you know who and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

Additional updates from the beginnings...More things that I forgot that dear Michael Crichton has since passed on that November of 2008...and I lost the eyesight in my right eye on July 2, of 2010, from Optic Neuritis, which caused me to give up one of my first loves, reading, since lefty gets very tired and becomes blurry in that process!

Chant with me here...
                          FIVE MORE YEARS!
                          FIVE MORE YEARS!
                          FIVE MORE YEARS!
                          FIVE MORE YEARS!
                          FIVE MORE YEARS!

                           OR NOT?

One to go...

I am more than sure that my mini countdown to my fifth anniversary of this blog is not that exciting for you, since counting down till tomorrow is losing something in translation of what that means for me too, ya know?

And so I will try hard not to think about that tomorrow is my BIG or big day, okay?

After all what is a fifth anniversary anyway?

So after I did all that brow sweating research and so this is what I found out, in summary, is that the fifth anniversary for a wedding is, wood, but this is not a marriage that is unless one considers one is married to their vocation?

I suppose some of us are.

But not me, gosh no, not me, at least I don’t think so…!

Not this… although, if I don’t do it, get your minds out of that gutter, since right now it could be crowed, any-who; I do miss it terribly.

And when it is alone I do wonder about if it misses me too?

Do others even know if I care too much, and would they care anymore, if they knew that I did?

If I ignore it even for a little while, will it forget that I understood all its nuances, its peculiarities, and its adorable shy 'who-me' look when I’ve coddled it with all those accolades daily? Of course, it has to know I only mean well…

Are you hearing this world?

I suppose, I am married to this too, oh no, does this mean that I am a bigamist? Why I am in an Italian fog?

Kidding, ‘big-a-mist’, no insult intended, really, I only am here for good not bad, you had to be here, and anyway, I am married to Hubby, before, now and forever!

And there was no formal ceremony to all this hullabaloo called, online dating, I mean, oops… online blogging!

Besides we got serious real quick, as soon as I tested the waters with mia bloggo I knew that this was going to become something more, something real special, more at least than just a one night stand, ya know what I mean, when you know, ya just know!

The fact that we met first right after breakfast or it could have been before, it's been nearly five years now, how soon we forget, but it was in the mornings that we started this affair/collaboration… of words meeting words with the sole reasoning of creating written thoughts to engage the masses in whatever they wish to glean from this dashing repartee...

More than five thousand pages and over 27,600 readers later and being translated into any language that needs to and read in ten countries weekly I feel that we, my blog and me have accomplished beyond my wildest dreams…!

And thanks WORLD for that!

Now back to what made this what it is…

My day…mundane and sublime; where do we find the time? HA!

Today was a gym/rehab day once again and I have increased my reps in that overhead piece of equipment and somehow sometime I will have to find out the proper name, I did twenty-five with my hands turned out and than Hubby recommended just turning my hands around and so I did another twenty-five, and some day I may even try a weight on it, ha!

I was happy that I also maintained my reps on the total gym, of one hundred with the rest between the fifties, and fifteen minutes in either direction on the arm cycle.

After all that we went over to the Cultural Center where Life Line Screening, their toll free # 1-877-237-1354, was performing my pre-arranged medical test today. I had agreed to have the sonogram of my carotid arteries to check once again, since when done last year they were checked, one was slightly clogged, but not that bad, it was $60 for this particular one. That to me is important, since both my parents and my brother died from strokes and early detection can help to prevent them. They informed me that my carotids seemed fine and not anything to be concerned about now, hooray! The full report takes a couple of weeks. I had other tests done a year ago, but those were not as necessary now; you can have as many as five done at one time. And so then we went to lunch!

On that note of another fine day in all of our lives, Hubby, me and bloggo, ha, talk about threesomes, of course bloggo stayed home though, seeing a theme here, uh oh, oh no...allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a  happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages with you know who and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

Shall I have a count down?

We as a people have celebrations for all occasions, being born, and then yearly for birthdays, weddings and then those anniversaries, new jobs and then hopefully promotions, after years well done retirements and on and on it goes… we like to celebrate years in a business, when we met that special someone, how long we have been writing a blog… and so I would like to say that this is my two day countdown to my fifth anniversary on this Tuesday, June 25th; of all this! (I’m spreading my hands over the keyboard and computer screen, hard to do it, now stop that! Get your minds out of the gutter, over all those 1823 plus by this Tuesday of entries on this piece of machinery!) Notice that I didn’t say pages, because some are a few pages long, whew, mind boggling!

Celebrations can be enormous with much fanfare or small with just a minute whimper and a wee yea… And that is more than likely how we will be celebrating this, or you can do whatever you feel is appropriate, really! Tell me about it later…
It’s not that I am not proud of what I’ve accomplished here, if nothing else it proved that I do have stick-to-ed-ness a form of perseverance and that this is the longest that I have ever stayed on one project; what can I say, I get bored easily.

But as with most all writing it never has to be boring it can be interesting to you and if you happen to entertain along the way with others finding it and it makes them furious, joyful, or say yup too, or whatever reaction you feel it could project… than my friends you are a hack/writer, not an author or a serious amazingly clever intuitive teaching tool, just a tool… Let’s look into that used too much term…

“According to Green's Dictionary of Slang, tool has several meanings. In the current context it would probably mean "a stupid, useless or socially inept person". The first citation for this dates from 1656.

*I suspect that this meaning is derived from the first meaning under the headword "tool", "the penis", as a literal or figurative bodily organ (first citation 1553), as names for the reproductive organs are frequently employed as terms of abuse (can't think why).

The meaning of "unskilful workman" appears a little later, at 1698.”

* Now I do know that I used a somewhat reputable site to get to the proper meaning of the term, ‘tool’, so do not blame me for the anatomically correct use of the word’s definition that occurred way back in 1553, and me quoting it as one of the definitions, okay?
Even as a wife and mother of two sons it threw me too, my cringe factor almost kicked in, but I am a big girl now(an understatement) and I did control it! Whew, I’m good…OKAY!

Although, the last connotation suffices my best view of how I see all this drivel of mine, but I do love to do it, no matter what you think!
Get your minds out of the gutter again, I meant this that is writing this; is that clear?

Making your self understood is not as easy as it seems, hmm?

As always, I will close this up for the night with hope that you got me, that is understood where I am coming from, yep good ole NJ, New Jersey, USA that is…ha! No really if we are on the same wave length, page, at times, but not always... I do hope that my last five years has done as much for you as it has done therapeutically for me with this online diary of sorts…my legacy… when you don’t have riches leaving a time capsule of memories, emotions, ideas and much, much more… is what this is…got that?

On that note of trying to read between the lines or not, me an open book here, no hidden agenda, now where did I hear that, oops here... Any-who, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and kindly ask you to count all your blessings and share all your overages with you know who and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

Signs and symptoms that you may not exist...

Have you ever felt invisible?

Are you ever talking and no one appears to be listening?

Do you saunter/roll into a room and no one looks your way?

While in a department store do sales people ignore you?

Have you ever received a fortune cookie without a fortune in it?

If you can answer yes to any or all of these questions as I can, than you too don’t need the Harry Potter Cloak!

Only if these anti-attributes came with super or magic powers than that would make it all fine, but somehow it’s not...

Oddly enough, I have been on the other end of all that too, an extreme other side; funny how things change…

I am not only one to complain here, but I am definitely one for solutions too…sort of...

Being invisible can have its rewards, you might, just maybe be able to get away with ridiculous behaviors…

Try acting out like a child, having an adult tantrum? That is sure to turn heads in public places or not, fun either way, or not.

Tune out others, as they have you? That’ll teach them two can play at that game too, and in the long run it may prove to be rather entertaining when they don’t notice, but you wouldn’t have either so you are even.

Physically grab, not too hard, the arm of a sales clerk and make them listen to your desire to be helped now? Make that gently touch their elbow; who needs security involved in your need to find the right size! Heck, they wouldn’t notice and think if anything that a flying insect touched them. Then go right up to them and block their way as they plow right through you while they never realize that you have a question that could earn them a few bucks, hmm? That’s why they’re there, right, too bad?

Write your own fortune with lotsa fun and happiness and good fortune included all coming your way?

And let your significant other know that you have a lot of stuff coming both your ways to share!

This will work…

Since Hubby wanted to share his only one fortune with me, and are you ready, than here it is… “A kiss? The renunciation of the heart when one is no longer alone”

That says it all… I’M HERE AND NOTICED; ALL IT TAKES IS TO PUCKER UP, HOORAY!

As simple as that sounds, sometimes a kiss is just a kiss…but not always… so try!

And that is just it, until we try in life to be heard, be it our true voices, or our presence, or our tenderness, one never knows does one?

Being visible can have its rewards and is highly recommended by all who profess to embrace the concept, figuratively and literally. I was jesting with you or not. Many days I do feel invisible and a few of the above mentioned incidents have actually happened to me in these recent years, including the no-fortune one, tonight!

Scary about the implications of that. Could it mean no future?

What a sad, negative thing to say to surmise my essay, shame on me!

Any-who, on all those suppositions of mine, allow me, on this second day of summer, oops forgot to tell you all in this hemisphere a to have a very lovely summer yesterday, an oversight, not ignoring you,  and so let's  be the first to wish you a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all of your blessings and share all those overages with you know who and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?!

Ordinary for most...

Being this retired bum that I call myself, no one else who is retired thinks like that I am very sure.
Though, me actually giving up so much a few years back of my extra curricula activities for various reasons…
And failing terribly at trying hard to go back to being involved in a non-profit, thinking that I had something to offer, but made to feel like I was lesser than…after forty years on and off of working in all aspects of the numerous fields of non-profit…I retreated until…
My jaunt back into trying to be healthier from an exercise program that at one time was also second nature to me, but in my present condition had to be modified… and so I think I have dealt with that not too badly, although a rather selfish comeback, with a relapse and other issues, but in the long run a beneficial decision.
And today I did succeed in my current program advancing with that new overhead piece of equipment; I did twenty-five reps instead of one set of ten reps in one direction and then switching and doing another ten more reps behind my head. Since I did find out that my shoulders don’t do well that way without severe pain and so I did the one in front and those twenty-five times and that was just fine! Of course my fifteen minutes on the arm cycle split in half each way, and my one hundred reps on the total gym, success!
I called yesterday about a Multiple Sclerosis support group in our area and found one.
Years ago I called, but being that it is in the evening, which is not usually my best time of day; I nixed it.
The reason I decided to call the other day was because some days I feel I am  wearing on Hubby’s last nerve with me needing his help, some times he makes me feel that I ask for too much and way too often.
The reason I felt now would be a good time to go is since it is not only for people with MS but also for their caregivers, and I do believe he needs as much support as I do, but still an evening event, only once a month though.
I figured he could also compare notes with others as I will be doing, but of course as all support groups are none are pity-parties; I used to be co-president of the arthritis support group for a few years, since I also have that… which led to all the other stuff, fund raising, board member, teaching Aquacize and being trained to teach a self help course as well as trained to write grants…how I miss all that, but realistically I am no longer in any condition to do any of that! I still do advocacy online and that’s it.

No, this is purely to compare notes with everyone else after the noted speakers’ talk, which is what we would have too. Local physicians in various related fields would discuss things like orthopedics, rheumatology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, etc… you get the idea and that is what this woman in charge, named Nikki said that they do too, but in neurology and related fields of course, although, on occasion, the restaurant where they have been meeting will periodically even underwrite the meal for all attending, nice little perk, I’ll say.

We did end up at the Cultural Center today for our very reasonable lunches once again. Mine, was homemade New England clam chowder and salad for $4.95 for both and Hubby’s, was pastrami on rye with a dill pickle and spicy mustard for $5.95 with tax, the whole shebang just, $11.66! No tips there due to the cafeteria style and we drink our own brought in beverages thus the bargain.
Scoping out the Trash and Treasure shop as we do every time we go, but we didn’t find anything that hit us that we needed or loved that is unless… you could count the telephone wire for our old land-line telephone that had a broken one, its the one that works when the power goes out or the cell towers go down, so it is important. Hubby found one in an unmarked price-wise case on a shelf in a corner and asked the man that we usually have asked before about prices and he said, take it, no charge and the man told the lady at the register, how unexpectedly nice! I guess he remembered we went there often, although, we haven’t bought anything in quite a while…

On that note of a pleasant surprise, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share those overages with you know who and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

Déjà vu

A southerner of some notoriety has once again used the filthy disgraceful epithet of the, ‘N’ word!
And you won’t hear it here, me naming names, but her name does rhyme with green, shame on you! This happens way too often still in this, the twenty-first century, why, it’s got to be just racked up to stupidity?

Another horror a multimillionaire spent too many of his bucks on an obscene wedding in the woods and destroyed nature in the process, but felt paying his way out of the humiliation of his parties destruction by throwing more money at ecological organizations! And his name I will not reveal, but sadly many parks would be deeply upset with his behavior with him nearly being their namesakes. Who cares what he spent on the festivities, but why destroy nature in the process because you can, hmm?

The market plunges over three hundred points just today, but it has before and came back, true?

Oddly enough, and sadly too, a TV mobster who broke many heads and other body parts while he portrayed one of the most lovable guys in his family business, Tony Soprano, said with a crooked nose outta joint… The man out of the role was deeply loved by his family, friends and his fans and when he died of a massive heart attack while vacationing in Italy yesterday, the people kept their feelings flying by all Medias means! And his name was James Gandolfini and he was only fifty one years young and he will be sorely missed by all.

Sadly too many of us die too young, famous as well as regular Joes and Janes…

Daily the news reports make us realize that history does indeed repeat itself, and we are here to listen, read or do whatever they wish from us to respond to these fascinating, tedious and sometimes too repetitive stories that chill our bones, makes us cry, ask us to wonder why again and again… you get my point.

Why does stupidity seem to have an upper hand at times, more times than not?
Notoriety allots some to have that voice even if most of us would be happier not to hear them.
But they shout way too loud and then complain when they are misquoted or their privacy is invaded, does that sound right to you?
BEHAVE if your name is well known, me not so much, oh alright, me too…
No one knows me.
Not really…
Many feel when they express themselves by writing, especially as I do without borders I like to think I have no hidden agendas, huh?
I meant without filters and that I am pretty much an open book and what could I have up my sleeves, really?
Who cares?
You and I are no different; we all have grown up with ideas, opinions, and inane talents, okay maybe some with more serious abilities?
We have the knowledge the same as the famous to do things… anything, but I do believe we know the difference from right and wrong, why you might ask? Because our parents taught us! Where were theirs?
Sure we wandered away from them as we grew older and were influenced by teachers, friends, and friends of friends, relatives, business associates and who knows who?
But mostly our opinions were developed from all the gleaning of what those years of being bombarded with life’s experience acquired?
All of that has proven, tantamount to a very healthy education of how things actually work, right?
So we too have arrived, and so I reiterate why must we listen to the same no news stories be reported again?
Royals have babies, so do non-royals, us commoners have/had them too!
We marry, we die…but it’s what we have done in between that should be newsworthy, okay?
Next they will be reporting that some hotshot was breathing today?
Give me a break...

People are still sadly racist, don’t give them the time of day or a soapbox and some millionaires don’t give a fig about ecology, campaign for them to become more aware and if I had a baby tomorrow it would not be covered by any news agency, oh wait it would, since I am over, way over, watch that self, note to self, sixty years old! HA!

Not much we could do about the market except put a gag on the people telling the stats of things they know that will have an effect on it, that’s an idea, a gag order, where did I hear that one, oh yea they use it in a court of law, folks!

Dying is a whole other thingy, and gosh I wish there was a quick fix, they the powers that be claim that a healthy diet and exercise can fix just about anything, except the diseases they have no cure for, still too many cancers, as well as other fatal ones and of course mine, Multiple Sclerosis, but I hear tell many laymen as well as noted medical professionals are working hard for that cure too! And that redundant news blurb I would love to hear any day, wondering which... why any of them that is the next major one that has been cured!

So on that note of hoping you heard me, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and to share all those overages with you know who and we will too!

Flubs, mistakes and who really cares... huh?

BREAKING NEWS

Depression becomes Tropical Storm Berry

Forecasters say a tropical depression crossing Mexico's Bay of Campeche has gotten better organized…
Received by email 2:57 P.M. on today Wednesday June 19. 2013.

I so enjoy receiving breaking news from the Tampa ABC affiliate, where our closest, biggest city is and has a fine group of news anchors and meteorologists who usually move on to major news groups once leaving this south eastern largest market area next to Miami I believe, but I could be wrong, I’ve been wrong before…
Any-who, in most cases their mistakes are minimal, which is why I do enjoy receiving breaking news blurbs/items from them. Although, not that it really matters that much but the second northeastern Atlantic tropical storm of the hurricane system after Andrea that just passed is actually called Barry, although Berry is cute, Barry is its name.

Boy does that make me feel good!

These are well educated folks, way beyond my ken and they can still goof!
My very occasional ignorance has been exonerated, hip, hip, hooray!
Oh, alright, mine is more frequent, but they have more people to edit, me none, they have fail-safe systems that oops too… This is so wrong and really sad that I find such delight in their minute inaccuracy at least they have its direction correct, that would be more awful and we here in southwest Florida know how horrible that can be! And the direction accuracy of any storm is the most important part of forecasting! Although, to be fair, no one has that much control of storms decisions… and we all know there is no one to blame when they take a quick right, but even so many years later we sure wish some one could figure it out!
Interesting enough that Berry, I mean Barry will probably be turning back into a tropical depression again, thankfully as it goes across land and then its name status is removed anyway! Just called a ‘tropical depression’, but then we move on to the next ‘C’, Chantal, named storm and this will be just another blip in that time space continuum that I captured for your viewing.
Sounds cool, hmm?
Me reaching into the sky for that?

Moving on…
The powers that be, The American Medical Association have determined that ‘Obesity’ is a disease!
Just what I needed was another one of those, diseases!
Kidding, sadly, I knew that; it kills more people today than smoking with one out of three people being obese in the USA!
Then why did I quit smoking on July 11 2006!
And yes, my 7th anniversary for that is coming up next month and sure I am proud… and will not start again, until I turn eighty, since neither of my parents lived to that age and I will feel safe.
Although, by then, they will be either fifty dollars a pack or only sold on the Black Market, who knows who cares why that is more than a decade away!

By then I will be slim again, since I am still going to the gym/ rehab and have now incorporated another piece of equipment into my routine that I did ten reps each, in two directions, today! It is that thing you pull down with your hands, no weights yet, just the system itself, but I did it! Now I do 15 minutes on the arm cycle both directions, and 100 reps, fifty break fifty, on the total gym and now this too, yeah!
Two days so far this week and Friday is coming up and as long as I have no problems in the interim I will be there!

Now for the curious and interpreters of film or PICS in this case I think that the picture looks as if a giant snake is over by our birdbath, you tell me what you think? Hubby doesn’t think so, but I am the one with imagination… ha!

On that note of WHAT???? Allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share all those overages with you know who and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
