Some short lived excitement today!

My long suffering time today lasted less than two hours!
Yes, we were denied that clear liquid that we all seem to take for granted…WATER!

No, of course we paid our bill and I am more than sure everyone else in our neighborhood did too, but the problems was… that someone hit the fire hydrant, and I am pretty sure they did not do it on purpose, who would, really? I sure hope that they are alright!

It appeared to us in sections of degrees, first the water pressure went down quite a bit, and instinctively one looks around the house for a leak, and none were found, since you are on city water it couldn’t be them…I had showered late with fear that it may go completely out and I used my usual shampoo in my hair, but even with less pressure, I cheated a bit instead of two applications of shampoo and then a rinsing with each I only did one shampooing, now don’t think badly of me… oh I can hear you saying, “dirty girl!”
Quickly I applied the conditioner with the same fear of it not all coming out… while all the while soaping my voluptuous body and praying that I will not be left a soapy icky mess!
Fortunately, I made it out in time, just in time for Hubby to personally investigate further since the utilities person gave him the exact location on the corner of Easy and Orange streets just a few blocks from here… when he arrived they seemed to be shutting down the hydrant that resembled the ones we see in those wild car chase scenes that one of the vehicles goes over it and it makes like an enormous fountain spewing its stream, wastefully high into the air…!
Two men were on one of those metal rods shutting the whole thing off, successfully… and sure enough that meant that we were waterless with no time frame given to Hubby when we would have that common wet stuff back coming out of our faucet’s, when he inquired.
And so, once the details were available I felt the necessity to tell the media, since all the other cities surrounding us get that kind of coverage for that sort of thing, I thought it only right for us to get that too, hmm?
But in less than two hours the water was back on even without notification of a boil notice, wow! I contacted the newsies via emails to update the original story with its outcome.
Rain was happening while we had no water and I was concerned, not unnecessarily that our electrical power could be lost too!
Dinner plans were discussed for ordering a pizza, and Hubby even found our paper plates since without water…
Any-who, nothing ever became as bad or as exciting as it might have been, thankfully!

We bit another bullet, horrid expression that just means that we were indeed very lucky and dealt with what we were given so far!
A lot more of summer to come our way and since it is the season for these things to happen…who knows what may be in our futures… I like to think of it as, preparing for the worst and hoping for the best; for that is our common lament here!

In closing, we take what we get to do with what we can and being informed makes it all the more easier…
That is another reason for telling the media what had happen to get the word out.

On that idea of letting the powers that be spread the word, allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and kindly ask you to count your blessings and share those overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

PS congratulate me today it makes six years that I quit smoking! They say four more and it will be as if I never ever did...smoke, that is. Oh and congrats to 7-11 on their eighty-fifth birthday!
