Do most people refrain from speaking to strangers in public on lines and in waiting rooms?
Sometimes, I wish that I could be so restrained, nah, it’s not within me.
I talk with as many people who appear open to it and that is with polite conversation in all waiting type situations; it seems to help make the time go faster, I think.
The smiling thing that I am an avid promoter of always seems to break the ice too.
Who can resist smiling back at a broad with a smile; oops I meant a broad smile, ha!
Chit chat is an art form not unlike other artsy stuff.
Sadly, I have this tiny little problem though, since if any of you recall I have a broken filter and as much as I try to keep the talk light and airy, nope that doesn’t work here, hmm, how about not too personal?
Sure, I know that we shouldn’t ask people what’s what with their medical issues just let them tell you, but really; when in a doctor’s waiting room?
You see, they are there for a reason and I am so sure that they will have to tell the doctor why, and so I say why not ask?
It’s only logical, true?
And let’s say you are in line with a woman who you nearly ran down with your scooter a few minutes before in an aisle in a fabric store looking for what you needed, and you find yourself apologizing, explaining that your perception is off since you only have one working eye due to ON caused by my Multiple Sclerosis, and then she confesses to you that she understands and that’s because she only has one eye working too!
I think that is a real opening for a conversation while waiting to check out, hmm?
She also says that her friend uses a scooter too, and that her daughter has a friend with MS…WE HAVE TOUCHDOWN and we take off in all different conversational directions and before we know it we are at the cash register, let the waiting games begin!
Hooray!
This gives me a time to pause because just when you feel that many don’t understand you a complete stranger changes that for you and faith in humankind rises to renew your way of thinking!
Oh yes, we did leave the compound today and went over to the Cultural Center which is in an enormous need of contributions for their Trash or Treasure store, so if you live anywhere near Charlotte County Florida, help them.
Then we went to pick up some prescriptions at the pharmacy and from there to lunch at Wally’s Barbecue restaurant they have a new $4.99 lunch menu, which Hubby and I both found items to our liking, he a grilled chicken with bacon and cheese sandwich and fries with coffee and mine a half sandwich of grilled chicken on whole wheat with lettuce and tomato and a cup of Russian soup tomato based with cabbage and of course my unsweet iced tea and extra lemons; very tasty for both and we will definitely go back again! Did I mention the chef is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu? Right here in Port Charlotte Florida!
From there it was a short trip to Jo-Anne’s Fabric and Crafts where we purchased the same cream/buff colored ultra micro suede to do the guestroom full head board that we did years ago for our king sized head board.
Also, of course, the Scotch guard and the batting, Hubby still had a large enough piece of plywood to attach it all too!
So comfortable and all you have to do is vacuum it as needed, not that often really!
And from there in the same parking lot…Publix, yes again, we were out of my almighty tomatoes, a natural anti-inflammatory, bet you knew that, hmm? Sadly, our garden ones are not quite ready yet, about two more weeks!
On that note of a little note, allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you to kindly count all of your blessings and share those overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
Speaking My Mind is about: Tobi, who is a middle aged, no, oh all right a slightly over the hill woman with all the imperfections that go with that, and this concerns her daily life's perceptions and experiences.
