I bet you thought you knew this...hmm?

Great question to ask your friends… that is when do you recall that you first…wait for it…knew that you were you?

Now some may tisk at the whole concept of the query, but not me, no never!

I think the answer is fairly clear… why is that oh dear sweet miss-know-it-all, Tobi? I know none of you would say that but let me pretend, okay?
Because we all know ourselves at different stages in our lives, and then it is gone…

Think about it, as an infant in your crib what I like to believe of as pure discovery of your body parts, feet/toes, thumbs/hands, nose/mouth, you get the idea…
And let’s not forget the cry that gets those giants to come in to your room for whatever you want or need!

As a toddler your vocalizations make it possible to communicate in your own world and sometimes in those parental giants world too. Experimenting with ba, ma, da, da and what ever noise or guttural sounds gets those large servants of yours to get you what you want and need! If not, throw a tantrum that can go either way…
Speech and pronunciation seems to allow for more of what you have to have to come forth, since those adult proprietors of your care seem to go berserk over the fact you can put two or more words together and yell and cheer when you do!

As an older child, in school, you know when the teachers like you, when you know the answers to their questions, and Mom and Dad think that you are so smart getting all those A’s!

Even though, as an adolescent, by now, you think you got this all figured out, that is, knowing everything almost…, but not quite yet…see that’s when you become a teenager formally thirteen to nineteen, and no one else knows a thing except of course your friends who know it all too!
And no one understands you, but you!

In college we experiment with our newer independence of being away on our own, trying things that the folks back in that little town of no ones would never and could never get or understand and would be shocked to know you did that!…
But… along comes love… and he/she is your world and soon he/she says after graduation you wanna marry me? And you do and in a year or two you are expecting that ‘bundle of joy’ that they all talk about since time immemorial… and you find out that GEEZ, you need those people at home that were always at your beck and call, you need them for advice, since for the first time… you haven’t a clue… or know what to do?

But each decade of our lives is a new understanding, of whom we really are, and if lucky before we die …we all will know our own truth, since nothing molds us more than what we experience in our lives and that makes us whom we eventually become…

And so I believe until the ride is over, cliché as it is, but we are all ‘works in progress’, and who would have the nerve to complain because that is why we were made… to be you and me, i.e. only oneself! So I suppose that is the answer; what was the question? LOL!

On that hopefully not to much wasting of your time, allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share those overages and we will too!

And next time, please be here or be square, ya hear?

PS our younger son’s birthday is today and all we wish for him is love, health and happiness! And that he should know that we miss hearing from him and seeing him… etc.
