Hang up!

And forgive me…SHUT UP!
“Whatever are you talking about?”
I hear you.
Nah, you didn’t say that.
But I said what I said, got that?

Cell phones and automobiles with talking don’t go together, oh alright I can’t testify to talking on hands free, but one in your hand, could be lethal while in that machine.
And gosh ‘texting’ just sounds too scary to me, since you need to use both of your hands!

The phone thing I speak from experience on, since in would you believe, 1994, I had a bag phone, yep, sort of like 007,James Bond, but his was early 1960’s if I recall and at that time it was only for the rich!
Mine came for free with my Saturn circa 1993 brand new ride… but squashed in 1994 via my cellular phone call! That was when I was a district manager for an international environmentally safe products company; with me being responsible for five stores in five different counties in Florida!
I drove three thousand miles a month in those days.
And worked sixteen hour days regularly and so my office was pretty much my car, and as neat as my home was kept my car was not!

Any-who, I had been on the phone while on the access road to I95 then I would get onto I4-west, heading to my Orlando store from my home in Ormond Beach.
While on the phone and on that short road to the highway I did not notice that the car in front of me stopped and you betcha, bam wham no thank you m’am!
In my terror to over adjust not only did I clip the car in front of me I ran across the opposite lane, and thankfully no one was in it since that would have been a head on collision but I went smashing into a big tree, causing forty-five hundred dollars worth of damage to my year old car! And thank God no one was injured, my airbag did open and because at the time I still was smoking, yep while talking on that phone, where were my hands? The cigarette put a hole in that airbag!
My arm was bruised and my shoulder did hurt a bit, but nothing major, I was very lucky no one got killed!

And so, hands free might be OK, but texting to me sounds way wrong!
So if we are to vote on the law banning both, I suppose most of you will know that I will vote to ban texting and holding that phone.
From then on I either turned off my phone or didn’t answer it or waited until I was in a parking lot or at my destination. It takes practice and patience, but I know we can all do this to be safe, and isn’t that better than, oh I don’t know…DYING?

Sorry, to weigh in on this very touchy subject, but you know me if I know just a wee bit about something, I feel that I must share…HA!

On that telling you because I truly do care for all of you… allow me to be the first to ask you to kindly count all your blessings and to share those overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
