Nothing to do...

The weekend is now half over and without definitive plans, or I should say pre-made plans I suppose that is why Hubby and I were disappointed to find out that there was nothing around to do for grown ups locally. And believe me we did try.
We thought that we would have lunch at Hendricks Deli in Punta Gorda the industrial, green the natural one with dual flush choices on their toilets and a new lighted bar since our last visit and we did, which was just fine our Pannini sandwiches of the Cuban persuasion. And our intentions were to also go over to the two antique shops in town, one at the railroad station and the other across from it that looks like an old fashioned gas station. Well, to our unknowingly surprise the railroad station is closed for the months of July and August and the other did not have a true ADA access since there were steps into it and no ramp that Hubby could see and he did reconnaissance for me at both locations while I waited in the car with cooling vest on and air-conditioning running.

Oh sure, there was a Harry Potter Faire at the Historic Park with wand creating and magic and face painting and such and even the Cultural Center had a back to school carnival, but nothing for us grown-ups!
Oh poo!
I suppose with that comment I would have fit in just fine, huh?
But seriously without even a grandchild to falsify entry we did not think that would be our thing or appropriate. Although, I must admit we are Harry Potter fans and have seen all of the movies but this newest one, since we wait for the rental DVD’s to come out and that last one is already in out Blockebuster queue. And being a Mom myself no one can underestimate our memories of the going back to school time period that we all used to get excited over with anticipation for new things from clothes to necessities for the classroom, but again we had no legit reasoning to go to either. We do hope everyone else had a wonderful time though.

One more museum we felt sure would be opened on our journey but it wasn’t and disappointment rebounded, darn, why are so many fun things closed on Saturday and Sunday here?
And so our final trip back home left us with one possibility and so after Hubby ran in to pick up my two prescriptions. And so close to home, on the access road nearby our main thoroughfare to our street is an indoor flea market that has been there a while. We had never ventured into it and Hubby once again checked this venue out and he reported back it was accessible but did not have anything he felt we would be interested in and so we came home. Oddly enough we were right on time for one of our favorite PBS shows, Ask This Old House. And so routine returned and our nothing to do boredom too…
Gosh as an adult you would think we would be able to find more constructive ways to entertain ourselves, huh?
I am NOT giving up for my inquiring mind needs to be active and so does Hubby’s…
It’s just sad that we seem to not have that many museums here and the few we do have, have shortened hours, but I suppose it is the money thing and cutback thing for that I am pretty sure.

Any-who, we will just have to co-ordinate with their hours and investigate further and make an effort to organize our adventures not so spur of the moment, which is what we did when younger.

Why I can remember when our sons were young we would each pack a bag and take off for the weekend and decide after once in the car where we were going.
One time we went all the way down to Key West when we lived in Ormond Beach just north of Daytona around three hundred and thirty miles give or take a mile!
Yep, that was us, and some times it is nice to just do something, but I guess now that we don’t go as far we will have to think ahead with our head, huh?

On that thought of trying to be spontaneous in an area that makes it more challenging allow me to be the first to wish you a very happy good night and to ask you kindly to count all your blessings and to share those overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
