Little black crabs, lizards, and birds oh my!

Small critters are knocking on our doors wanting to enter, what’s with that?
For two days now or perhaps a bit longer these faunas have been trying hard to retreat from who knows where or from what?

Some, like the lizards, do sneak passed us periodically into our home but now the little black crabs are trying to too, which I did a search on the net for an actual name other than the one I bestowed on them but no luck with that. And they are usually on our seawall fifty or more feet from our backdoor. Small birds have been known to hit our many windows encompassing our home and some have sadly died, but usually that is due to a Peregrine Falcon chasing them or some other predators like Osprey or other hawks, but these birds just appear to have lost their way and have been bouncing off of the windows; so far, fortunately no deaths, yet.

I think and this is not scientific reasoning on my part but it might be a trace of, maybe it’s the lower barometric pressure or like what is going on south of here with the red tide or algae blooms and possible less oxygen in the water? But these little black crabs seem to be land lubbers, not water crustaceans, and what about the birds, huh?

Prior to Hurricane Charley giving us that direct hit back in August 13th of ’04, about two weeks before that Hubby and I were coming back by boat from the islands south of here after a luscious day of shelling, swimming, fishing and eating at one of our favorite waterfront restaurants down that way. While on our way home an enormous storm with fifty foot waves came up and it was not anywhere mentioned on our weather check prior to leaving that day. Skipper was a five month old pup at the time and I was much healthier and my skinny self and Hubby was Hubby and he was at that time a licensed boat captain being in the marine patrol; anyway we had been boaters for over forty years even by then. And this was for my first time ever that I could remember that Hubby told me to put on my life jacket over our raingear even Skipper had his raingear and lifejacket on too, but I held him tight under all of my gear. Little did we know or possibly think that this was a precursor to what was about to happen two weeks later, Hurricane Charley. And yes, due to Captain Hubby’s know how we made it home safely it just took a bit longer, but you knew that or I would not be here writing this now, LOL!

The Native Americans have been capable forever to tell by nature’s signs how the weather was going to change for the better or worse by watching tree frogs and other creatures telling them that.
More scientific than a lot of our computerized equipment of today I bet.
Nature, you have to admit has been around an awful lot longer, huh?
So signs of a change coming are not that farfetched to assume, oops, did I say that?

Well, this assumption has a bit of history attached to it, millions of years, and so that might ring true.
I sure hope not that what we have been seeing could be indicative signs of what we may be in for; another tumultuous season.
But who knows…sure HOPE NOT!
Even meteorologists will be the first to admit that most are predictions not absolutes, hmm?
Sound familiar?
Not unlike psychics make?
Lawyers and doctors practice on us; scientists predict, nothing is carved in stone; is all that I am saying, true?

YOU BETCHA!

On that note of possibilities of anything could happen…let me be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you kindly to count your blessings and to share your overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
