The Cookies!

Thought I would try something different tonight and so here we go…
Baking is something I try not to do too often anymore except when Hubby really, really asks me to. You see without any little ones at home anymore and me needing to lose a lot of weight I try hard not to eat things that are notorious for causing me to overindulge.
But in that process I do feel guilty of depriving my skinny Hubby of those fun filled items that I so used to love to make and so every now and then I give in to that joy of baking and make something that has that love potion involved in all bake goods, but really don’t they? Geez, I always thought they did!
In my head I am hearing, “the fastest way to man’s heart is through his stomach.”
The prize of that expression has been had long ago, but his desire to have sweet treats has not left that younger Hubby’s memories and even though I know my own will power is tested when I do this falling off my own self imposed no sweets wagon I feel the necessity to give in to his needs as I suppose all couples feel at different points in their relationships.
As you can see above he is not the only one who is thrilled with my decision;
Skipper enjoys the aroma of peanut butter too.

The recipe is rather simple, preheat the oven to 350 degrees, 1 ¼ cups all purpose flour, ½ cup brown sugar and ½ cup granulated sugar or in my case sugar substitute, ¾ of a teaspoon of baking powder, ½ teaspoon of baking soda and a pinch of salt, one egg, ½ cup of peanut butter in my case lower fat crunchy, ½ cup of shortening in my case canola oil and last but not least 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Combine in a large bowl sugars, shortening and peanut butter, and beat in the egg, add powder, soda and salt, roll batter into balls or in our case we used a small ice cream scoop and then press each cookie with a fork vertically and horizontally for the tines impressions, bake for 10 to 12 minutes in a 350 degrees preheated oven makes about one and half dozen or more if you go smaller.
The batter will appear quite stiff when you put the cookies on the pan so be sure to make sure they are cooled well before devouring!
The consistency is still a crumbly one, so have a napkin handy, but mmm, mmm oh so good.

Moving on…
Many people post short flicks that they think are cute or significant to what they want to say and with my new browser Mozilla on Facebook I had not realized I had not installed the program necessary to view them and so today was the day! I kept clicking on those shorts of everyone’s and it kept telling me to install such and such but I guess I was more than crash shy, it was true utter fear, after all those horrendous experiences we went through just months ago, but today I finally took the plunge. You see my anti-virus assured me that it was safe, plus the page itself showed me where to hook into it to install it! How about that?
And now I am able to see the reasoning for so many of the commentaries of my Facebook friends since now I am in that inner circle, WOW, did you hear what I just said? That ‘circle of life’, thingy again! Been there done that! Inner sanctum, how about that, one of the crowd, a person who knows what’s what, gosh one of the peeps of the awareness groupies? Now I guess I am going a bit too far, oh well…
I can dream can’t I?
On that less than normal reaction to a download to make me able to see what you all have been for years… Let me please be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you kindly to count all those blessings and to share those overages and we will too!

And next time be here or be square, ya hear?
Or L-seven it!
