Our Charlie...

This morning our 30 and a half year old cockatiel named Charlie, after Prince Charles, I know, I know everyone all these years asked where his Princess Diana was, until she died of course! And he had, ours that is had blood around his face, and I thought it was the end for him.
You see, the average life expectancy of a cockatiel is 15-20 years and so lately over the last several months he has been falling asleep and falling while asleep off of his perches.
I know, what should one do, any suggestions?
His face looks just dreadful, and we don’t know of any small domestic bird docs in this area. I think tomorrow if for some reason he looks worse, although I don’t know how he could look any worse…I did open his cage and held him to wash his face, and he has been eating and climbing all over his cage like normal? I will see if our local wildlife refuge might have a doc who could give me some tips on how to handle this; he had always been so healthy or at least seemed that way. Even right now he is sitting atop his perch just dosing again; now I know where the term ‘strange bird’ comes from.
Very odd, but some animals are just peculiar in the arena of life and death matters.
We are prepared for whatever may occur since he is considered a very old senior citizen in his species.

Another oddity occurred today while I was perched here at the computer…I did not see but guessed that our heron was in our pond again, since I saw something quite large from my peripheral vision flying up, up and away and then looked to the pond and noticed one of the pumice floating stones had fallen in and the netting had been pulled back slightly, but the count of all fishes was correct and they were all accounted for!

My genealogy historian cousin has been posting wonderful old family photos what a joy to see grandparents and aunts and uncles etc. when they were our ages! Boy, in those days they looked older than we look now at the same age! Why is that I wonder, or are we delusional on how we really look?

Any-who on that additional oddity of noteworthy awareness I will bid you all a pleasant good night and to all count those blessings and we will too!
