Shop, shop until you drop; this is the way we show how much we care!
It is so true that we as a capitalistic nation truly believe that spending oodles on our loved ones during this time of year is how we show them that we really love them…
But when did that all start to become the norm?
I remember also being caught up in the frenzy like everyone else when our boys were small and also using dear old St. Nick to keep them behaving well until the fated night of his arrival! Even, dare I say using that old faithful if you don’t believe in him (St. Nick or Santa); he may not come to our home…
Manipulation is what all parents do to help children to learn, at times, right from wrong, but then we screw it up with dangling materialistic rewards in the advent of that proper behavior, does that seem right to you?
Now when I think back I guess it was bordering on cruelty.
But who has not done it?
Negotiating is a better way to look at all those child rearing years, better than beating them into submission, right?
Wow I must sound just dreadful on my parenting skills abilities.
Reasoning was another way to go too, but rarely worked even though we had very intelligent fairly well behaved sons.
And boy, am I glad those years have passed, and that our sons ended up well educated, productive, and gainfully employed men in spite of me!
Go forward Americans and go out and make the economy fruitful for all!
Yes, that’s right shop until you drop, and torture those kiddies with not getting a thing if they act badly! It is somewhat of a tradition, and if I must say so our ‘Generation Xers’, were a rather wonderful group who ended up quite well in the citizenship department.
Perhaps a bit of emotional maneuvering is what this next line of specimens could use.
So tonight I will wish you all that you find whatever you are looking for and have the bucks to pay for it and now I will say goodnight to all and tell you to count your blessings and we will too!
Speaking My Mind is about: Tobi, who is a middle aged, no, oh all right a slightly over the hill woman with all the imperfections that go with that, and this concerns her daily life's perceptions and experiences.
