Being asked my opinion is dangerous but people still do it!

The reason I say it is dangerous asking my opinion on anything is because when I give my opinion it’s with reckless abandonment; verbally throwing caution to the wind! And to top it all off I am long winded!
But no one has felt the need lately to stop the practice.

The subject that I am referring to in this particular case is the vaccine for H1N1 and all the controversy that goes along with anything of this sort. Below is what I wrote in an email to my across the canal neighbor that is at their other home in Canada. They will be arriving back here in early November:

“Well, the medical doctors on TV consensus here is that children and pregnant women should get the vaccine, as well as chronically ill people, probably the same in Canada. It seems that healthy people in their mid to late sixties are not at that high a risk for this strain, unless they have a chronic disease. I qualify, but Hubby’s back injury does not, but since he smokes he might. I have only been getting a flu shot (regular one) for the last two years, but fortunately I did get a pneumonia shot while hospitalized, any past or present smoker should ( that's what killed my Dad while in the hospital recuperating from his stroke, pneumonia! He had been a smoker too!), but Hubby is still thinking about it, darn him! I think you two would have to make that decision for yourselves. Although, with your Hubby’s Emphysema and Colitis, maybe he should get it, but you know best for yourselves! But our H1N1 vaccine we were just notified on the news will be ready around October 19th. Our yearly flu shots are ready for us now all over!
I don't know if I was any help... but good luck on whatever you decide.”

I think that was not too opinionated?

Although, my circle of ‘friends’ has grown considerably smaller than when I was out in the world. I suppose as we get older picking and choosing who we wish to spend our relaxing retiring time is our own business and being selective is a good thing. We all need people with similar interests to fit the bill.

You may have remembered that this past weekend we did go out for a whole hour and a half to our convention center’s Home and Garden Show. While there the local garden club was displaying their plants and being a gardener myself I did stop and chat with the women. They tried to encourage Hubby and me to join them, men are also included in their group; they meet once a month not far from our home. That was nice to hear since I was in my scooter and did say Hubby does more gardening than I these days, but I do miss it something awful. We discussed plants and xeriscaping( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xeriscaping) which means that plants once established need little or no water and minimal care; personally I have been doing this for years. It is great and truly is a significant way to be green with water conservation. I mentioned our also composting and that we have rain barrels and veggie garden too, perhaps that is why they wanted us to join?
They were very flattering, and gave us their literature which I did not file in the round file, yet.
Unfortunately, since I no longer drive for over a year I have given up quite a few of my interests, although Hubby has offered to take me here and there, but I feel so dependent when I was always the opposite! I am still adjusting.

If Hubby would be willing to join too, I would go, I suppose; it is only once a month after all.

On that thoughtful note I will wish you all a good night and take care, be safe, and count those blessings and I will look seriously for mine!
